  1. I also think WR is the main target, but if Nicks/Robiskie are gone, we may look to move down to regain a pick. Move down 10-15 spots and regain a late 3rd to early 4th RD pick. I think the type of WR we need is someone who is a little bigger in size that can use his body/height to help out Cutler: Brian Robiskie 6-3 210 4.50 .................................2nd Mohammed Massaquoi 6-1.5 210 4.67..................late 2nd-3rd Louis Murphy 6-2 205 4.43...................................3rd Ramses Barden 6-6 230 4.61.............................late 3rd-4th Marko Mitchell 6-3.5 218 4.47............................4th-5th Aaron Kelly 6-4 205 4.55..................................5th Patrick Turner 6-5 223 4.70...............................6th I'd be very happy if we can trade down w/ CAR to 59. we trade: 2-49 = 410 5-154 = 29.8 .....for CAR's... 2-59 = 310 3-93 = 128 2-59 Mohammade Massaquoi WR..........Bigger WR that can block/catch 3-93 Gerald Cardogan OT.........Penn St LT has played G, young swing OT 3-99 David Bruton FS..............has all the athletic ability, will need some work on angles/technique 4-119 Zack Follett OLB............Lovie loves Follett, don't be surprised if he's our 3rd RD selection 5-140 Marko Mitchell WR ........Bigger deep threat for Cutler 6-191 Quinn Johnson FB...........Johnson or Flameatta -FB to replace McKie whos often injured 7-246 Kirston Pittman DE..........LSU DE who's play slipped some last year compared to 2007 7-251 Donald Washington CB Ohio ST/ Morgan Trent CB Mich........bigger CB's in mold of Tillman that played at big programs 7-
  2. There are some big football experts saying that the Ravens may even take Delmas, not much of a reach IMO.
  3. Here's some evidence that maybe the finger should be pointing more towards Lovie and not Turner???? "Not taking anything away from a defensive head coach," Orton said. "That's what they know, that's their passion, and that's what they're going to coach toward. I know we were safe a lot of times in Chicago. There were a lot of game situations where we played it pretty safe and let our special teams and defense win it." If Orton is struggling now, it's containing his enthusiasm at the prospect of playing for an offensive-minded coach such as McDaniels. The Broncos' system will ask its quarterback to throw oodles of high-percentage passes a game, mostly from the shotgun formation. "Taking nothing away from my days in Chicago, but this is an offense that a quarterback can thrive in," Orton said. "Hopefully, I can take the next step in my career and become a top-level quarterback in this league."
  4. The Eagles are surprised this DE is still available as he has been climbing the boards lately. The Eagles select: DE Robert Ayers Tennessee
  5. I would tend to agree even though I'd like to see who we end up getting
  6. draftcountdown has some good scouting reports, they seem to breakdown skill sets better. Walterfooball also has profile reports, but there really not as good.
  7. He's slowly climbing up on all the mock drafts, the more people look into him, the higher he would go. I liked the piece they did on him on the NFL channels Path to the Draft. If Robiskie is off the board, I would'nt trade down very many spots if we're looking to draft him. I think if anything, we take him and try to move up to take Inglasias or Mossiaupo sp?
  8. The Atlanta Falcons have urgent needs at DT, CB, OLB, and TE and want to continue to build the team around the franchise Matt Ryan. So with the 24th pick of the NFL draft, the Atlanta Falcons select..........Brandon Pettigrew TE from Oklahoma St. The Prophet is up next with the 25th pick belonging to the Miami Dolphins.
  9. No problems, just giving some ribbing along with Madlith. The Eagles are starting to become depleted in the secondary along with many other positions, but the secondary was the hardest hit. So with there pick 21st pick they select the UofI CB - Vonte Davis. Jason and the Minny Queens are now on the clock!
  10. Orlando Pace is like a 7 time all-pro. I'm fine moving our 1st RD pick to the right side and letting him learn from one of the greatest to play that position. After this move, I myself wish we would have now selected Brandon Albert (KC) who can also play guard, but I'm not upset over the C-Dub pick.
  11. Is Detroit going to skip there pick? I thought they were going to do that with there #1 pick so they don't have to pay the top $$$. LOL Players possibly on there big board: Best Oline men available: Eben Britton RT, William Beatty LT, Max Unger C/G/OT Best LB available: Brian Cushing OLB, James Laurinitias LB, Best player available: Vonte Davis CB, Michael Johnson DE,
  12. Redux: If Robiskie is still on board, we have to take him but if he's gone and it's up to Inglesias or Rashad Johnson, I'll go R Johnson. I do think Rashad Johnson will be a Mike Brown type of S, even though Johnson compares himself to Ed Reed. 2.) "Robo" Robiskie WR 3.) Sherrod Martin FS 4.) Zack Follet OLB - may not look like a need, but he is high up on Bears board b/c of pass rush ability 5.) David Veikune DE 5.) Jason Watkins OT - RT to groom 6.) Andy Kemp OG - Wisc is the cradle of Guards 7.) John Gill DT - Northwestern kid 7.) Brannon Southerland FB - FB to challenge McKie
  13. I had posted what it would take to move up earlier, here's a recap broken down as round & pick and what there value is: Its a possiblity, but we would be trading every tradeable pick to move up about 15 slots, that may give us: RD2-35, 3-99, 7-246, 7-251. I can see us doing it if that one player is available (hmmmm-I wonder who that may be) 2-49 = 410 4-119 = 56 5-140 = 36 5-154 = 30 6-191 = 15 ------------------- .......... 547 pts = PICK 35 (3rd pick in the 2nd RD)
  14. Another player to possibly consider is Darrell Jackson Darrell Jackson 5-11 210 age 30 He was hurt most of 2005, came back to help Seattle in 2006 make it to the Superbowl, set record for most 1st Quarter Rec., was traded after the 2006 season to SF. Didn't produce at SF and released. Signed on at Denver!!!, but sat behind Marshall, Royal, and Stokely on depth chart. I'm not sure if he is suffering from an injury or just dropped off, but he used to be a stud at Sea. Maybe worth looking into.
  15. Thats what I kind of expect also, I feel that JA will have a WR signed before the draft that way he can go in different directions. WR's still available Torry Holt, Plaxeco Burress, Matt Jones, Marvin Harrison, Ronald Curry, DJ Hackett, Drew Bennett, Jerry Porter, or Darrell Jackson. I do not forsee anymore trading of draft picks for players for a while now, so we can forget Moore WR for NO and also trading for Bolden. I can't see ARZ trading a team they may have to face to make it to the Superbowl. I hated passing up so many WR's, but with just as big of ?'s at the S position, I felt finding a young Mike Brown would be just as important.
  16. The Saints top needs are OLB and DB. They can also look to add a RB, C, and ROT. Even though they added FS Darren Sharper, the Saints still draft: Malcom Jenkins FS Ohio St. They highly considered Oher for RT and Cushing for OLB, but felt Jenkins would make the biggest impact. The Houston Texans (The Prophet) are now on the clock
  17. Jerry Angelo and the Bears are really excited knowing they now have a QB that can get them back to the Super Bowl. With this new energy swarming, the players are also feeding off of it. It is now up to Jerry to add the remaining pieces to complete this task and keep young talent waiting in the wings to fill in for retirement/FA releases. My picks are: Rashad Johnson FS, Fenuki Tupuo OT/G, Zack Follett SLB, Johnny Knox WR, David Veikune DE With there first pick, which is RD2 Pick 49, the Bears will be targeting the following players: A.) Brian Robiskie WR Ohio State - At 6-3 208 and sub 4.5 speed, Robiskie is NFL ready with his route running ability and hands. He knows how to sit in the zone when a window opens and has a high football IQ. Has leadership ability and NFL bloodlines. Has been compared to Amani Toomer, and is notch below Hakeem Nicks as to a WR with similiar skill sets. B.) Duke Robinson OG Oklahoma - At 6-5 329 Robinson is a road grader that may also be able to play RT if needed. With a franchise QB behind center and a future star RB, Robinson is like an insurance policy. He has some work cut out for him to be a great NFL player, but his size/strength are probowl ready. With a crowded herd of Guards at Bears camp, they may look at Oline later in the draft. C.) Paul Kruger DE Utah - At 6-4 263 Kruger has a frame that can get bigger. Not much experiene for his age of 24, but has a lot of potential. Has a non stop motor, quick/agile, with decent strength. Mature, team leader that has a good work ethic. D.) Rashad Johnson FS Alabama - 5-11 203. Johnson is similiar to Mike Brown as they both have high football IQ's. They are both excellant leaders. Neither are known as being top notch athletes and use good angles and reads to make up for that. Johnson is known as a ball hawk that is always at the right spot at the right time, definately a playmaker. With there second pick in RD3 Pick 99, the Chicago Bears target the following players: A.) Brandon Williams DE Texas Tech - 6-2 261 - doesn't have top speed, but great explosiion off line w/ agility B.) Phillip Hunt DE Houston - 6-2 260 - Has great speed off edge but level of competition wasn't great C.) Mitch King DE Iowa - 6-1 280 Productive, great athlete w/ speed, nasty demeaner - too short/slow for end and small for DT D.) Sherrod Martin FS Troy - 6-1 198 good tackler, physical w/ speed/agility. didn't face top competition. E.) Fenuki Toupou OT Oregon- 6-5 318 size/bulk/long arms, physical/aggressive. good in run game, nasty demeaner. Stuggles against edge With there third pick in RD 4 Pick 119, the Chicago Bears target the following players: A.) Zack Follett OLB California - 6-2 236 , good pass rusher, burst to close, big hitter, intense, superb instincts, hard worker. B.) David Bruton FS Notre Dame - 6-2 219 good size/bulk, physical, burst to close, delivers big hit, leader C.) Derek Peques FS Miss. St. 5-9 199 decent football IQ, plays fast, aggressive, excellent instincts. D.) Brandon Gibson WR Wash. St- 6-0 210 E.) Kevin Ogletree WR Virgina With there fourth pick in RD 5 Pick 140, the Chicao Bears target the following players: A.) Coye Francies CB San Jose St. B.) Loius Vasquez OG Texas Tech C.) Orion Martin DE Virginia Tech D.) Johnny Knox WR Abiliene E.) Aaron Kelly WR Clemson With there fifth pick in RD 5 Pick 154, the Chicago Bears target the following players: A.) Austin Collie WR BYU B.) Mike Wallace WR Ole Miss C.) Nate Davis QB Ball St. D.) David Veikune DE Hawaii E.) Jason Watkins OT Florida
  18. Oh well, cross him off the list. Man, how hard can it be to behave for 10 yrs of you life. I'm sure it's got to be hard with all the down time, but can you imagine only putting in 10 years if your lucky and be able to walk away with enough money to live like a king and take care of your kids kids for the rest of there lifes. NFL stands for National Fools League sometimes.
  19. R Williams is a player that interests me, he was a highly touted prospect that hasn't flourished. Maybe it had something to do w/ JAX. But when it comes to a complimentory WR to fit our other WR's, I think Williams can bring that Larry Fitzgerald type. Adding Williams should be cheap and it can give CHI more options in the draft. ------------------------------------------------ 2004 DRAFT PROFILE: Reggie Williams 6-4 212 40 time - 4.48--4.62 at proday Positives: Reggie Williams has good speed for his size, great natural ability, and excellent hands. He is very physical, has good strength, and rarely loses out on a jump ball. In terms of player toughness, he is arguably as good as any other receiver in college football. He has great strength and often manhandles corners that try to jam him at the line of scrimmage. He has a great work ethic and has a history of coming through in big games.Williams also takes pride in being a great blocker, something that is not real common in the college ranks. He is confident almost to a fault, and as a sophomore, he turned in the best receiving season in Washington Huskies' history. Negatives: There's nothing wrong with Reggie Williams' physical skills. He has adequate speed, but is not what you would call a real burner. But there are questions about his character. His is so confident, he sometimes comes off as arrogant at times and has had issues with teammates because of it. A Recent Scouting Report Assets Big, tall receiver with sure hands. A top red zone threat. Will make catches in traffic and move the chains. Has made vast improvements as a route runner in the past two seasons. Flaws A late bloomer who took forever to "get it". Still runs some lazy routes or misreads his coverage. Isn't a true burner and doesn't make the most of his ability to outjump defenders for deep balls. Career Potential Solid starter. by Fantasy Sports Services ..YR.....G...REC...YDS..AVG...TD targeted: 2004...16...27....268...9.9.....1......? 2005...15...35....445...12.7...0.......63 2006...16...52....616...11.8...4.......92 2007...16...38....629...16.6...10.....60 2008...16...37....364...9.8....3........63 As to his recent arrest: A judge dismissed DWI and possession of marijuana charges against free-agent receiver Reggie Williams on Friday. Online Harris County records show both charges were dismissed. Williams was arrested about 2 a.m. on Feb. 27 on Houston's southwest side after officers smelled alcohol on his breath and a "strong odor" of marijuana in his vehicle From: Fox Sports.com I believe he was convicted earlier in his career for marijuana though.
  20. When I heard Cutler make this comment, It got me thinking about what Lovie says all the time. "It take 4 phases of the game to be successfull" "offense, defense, special teams, and the 4th phase the fans" What about coaching Lovie??? Oh thats right, you don't coach during the game, you just look confused and tongue tied watching the jumbo screen during games. Hopefully now that he will be coorinating the D, coaching will become the 5th Phase.
  21. Another thing you have to look at is that Orton was in his FA year. The Bears were either going to have to resign him b/c they don't have anybody else ready (maybe Haine) or find another stop gap if they lost Orton. Orton was never going to be a QB that can win games alone, he could keep us from losing, but he has never had the talent to take over a game. His limititations as a pro were the same limitations as a college QB. He's a great #2 - stop gap #1 IMO. So, that left the Bears in a decision on how to handle the QB position. Do they resign Orton half way through the season, knowing his limitiations and knowing this will hold the Bears back in finding a top tier QB or make an effort at a chance that is never-ever available. The decision made was the right one, Lets look at this way: RD1-18 - Cutler - we get a franchise QB which none of us would complain about - we lost out on Nicks/Britton RD1-? 2010 - This would've had to go for QB if Orton didn't get job done again and we let him walk or sign a lowball deal. So draft day 1 sucks for Bears fans, but you know espn will talk about this both years. RD3-84 for there RD5-140 (4th pick 5th RD)- we swap these picks and move down 56 slots, since we have another 3rd RD pick, the blow hurts less. ------------------------------------ Now we have a direction to build upon. Cutler/Forte/Olsen/Hester. All tied up until 2012 and we haven't seen Bennett who I think will emerge kind of like Royal did. We still have about 20 million in cap space to maybe add another WR which I would prefer a tall WR in the mold of (turds) Plaxico Burress, Reggie Williams, or Matt Jones that can get up and catch those jump balls.
  22. Its a possiblity, but we would be trading every tradeable pick to move up about 15 slots, that may give us: RD2-35, 3-99, 7-246, 7-251. I can see us doing it if that one player is available (hmmmm-I wonder who that may be) 2-49 = 410 4-119 = 56 5-140 = 36 5-154 = 30 6-191 = 15 ------------------- .......... 547 pts = PICK 35 (3rd pick in the 2nd RD) This could be our mock: 2-35 Hakeem Nicks WR - doubtful he's there, but not impossible Micheal Johnson DE - possible, but reports from Bears camp - not too high on him Aaron Maybin DE - Larry English DE- Robert Ayers DE- Brian Robiskie WR Kenny Britt WR James Laurinitis LB William Beatty OT Phil Loadholdt OT 3-99 Sherrod Martin FS Darcel McBath FS Andy Levitre OG Kraig Urbik OG Ramses Barden WR Austin Collie WR Brandon Tate WR Jarrett Dillard WR Brandon Gibson WR Johnny Knox WR
  23. Also during the Angelo interview, I forgot to mention, was some information about Earl Bennett. JA said that there is no concern about Bennett and the presumption of him struggling to learn the playbook. JA said they wanted Bennett to learn all three positons (X,Y,Z). He said if they asked him to just learn 1 spot as a WR, he would of had that down in a breeze as he is very bright/smart. JA said Bennett felt comfortable enough by week 7/8, but they didn't want to rush/push him (which was close to the time Kyle went down). Now at the start of this season, JA said Bennett knows the whole offense and will play the #2 and slot position, thats were they drafted him to play.
  24. FS is a place I think we may look if WR/DE/OT isn't what we like, here's a list that could very well be available at 49: Louis Delmas FS Western Michigan 5-11 202 40=4.53 skinny: tough/physical, great instincts/awareness, plays run well, can deliver a big hit, can match up in coverage, always in the action, decent hands and ball skills, team leader fat: not blazing fast, doesn't have the burst to close, gets too aggressive, takes bad angles at times, may struggle in man coverage William Moore FS/SS Missouri 6-0 221 40=4.53 skinny: has nice size/bulk and very athletic that tough/physical, huge hitter that can put fear in opposition, great against the run, has burst to close, strong work ethic, team leader. fat: durability, instincts, slow in reading/reacting, average speed, struggles in man coverage, may be better if he shed some weight Rashad Joshson FS Alabama 5-11 203 4.53 skinny: terrific hands, excellant instincts, reads and reacts quickly, can match up in man coverage, high football IQ - a coach on the field, great leader fat: not elite athlete, average size, not as tough/physical, doesn't have great burst, not as great in run support, Darcel McBath FS Texas Tech 6-0 198 40=4.55 skinny: adequate size/bulk, athletic, decent hands, can match up in man coverage, good instincts, smart/hard worker, team leader fat: short arms, not very strong/physical, has trouble getting off blocks Sean Smith CB/FS Utah 6-3 214 4.53 skinny: Excellent size/bulk, long arms, nice athleticism, good hands, decent speed, physical/aggressive, good run support, can jam at line well, read/reacts quickly. fat: needs to get stronger, hips not fluid enough/struggles to turn w/ WR, too aggressive at times, tendency to get beat deep, lacks burst to close, raw/not great technician Jairus Byrd CB/FS Oregon 5-10 207 40=4.68 skinny: excellent athleticism, decent hieght/bulk, great ball skills, physical/aggressive, good run support, good jam, nice instincts/awareness, strong work ethics, NFL bloodline. fat: not great speed, lacks the burst, struggles against speedy WR, not a big hitter, Sherrod Martin CB/FS 6-1 198 4.52 skinny: Terrific athlete w/ size/bulk, great speed/acceleration, very physical, great tackler, delivers the big hit, aggressive, plays through pain, fat: health/durability will be a concern, a little older (did his mission or something like that) , didn't face top competition
  25. Great news and thanks LT2. Still plenty of $$ to patch up the WR corps and defense. Maybe we sit back for a while now and watch the other teams start sweating as the Bears are looking like they put together a great offseason. Marinelli, Hoke, Cutler, Pace, Shaffer, Omiyale, Bullocks, K. Jones. JA/Bears did a nice job last year tying up core players and now this year he's adding the icing on the cake. I'd be content if we wait until after the draft to spend a few more million on FA's. Honestly, I'm not sure if we drafted 8 players if we'd have room for even half of them on the roster. I can see JA getting creative and maybe trading some of the picks for 2010 picks or moving up.
