Teams need to have most pieces in place to make a qb work. It starts from the top. I think the Bears have the right GM in place. HC is still shaky, but he did improve as the season progressed with all of the issues he faced. OC, I think they have the best guy that was available but time will tell. Is the Oline able to protect the QB and help with calls? They are getting closer too but there is a huge hole at C and G/OT depth. Running game, seems pretty good but no standout and if you remove JF, are they great? WR, after DJ Moore, they are basically all guys that wouldn't be missed. TE, they need a better backup. They need about 4 good to great players on offense or 1/3. Count the QB and we are closer to needing half the personal. If they draft Caleb, would he be enough to overcome those deficiencies? They could still upgrade maybe two positions with good to great replacements and they might be closer, but that is also how you wreck a rookie. Whatever way the Bears go, I will support. As DaBears listed, great QBs come not only from the number one slot because they go to a great situation and are developed.

Would love this draft but see Zinter is going rd 3 or 4. Milton had been mentioned going rd 1 too but will more than likely be gone rd 2 or 3.

I played guard, was short, strong, and fast. Was a great pulling guard but understood leverage with being short. 6'4 guys with 40-50# on me had trouble because I knew how to get my hands under their shoulder pads and stand them up on their toes. It was fun a time. Braxton needs to learn technique and also get stronger. Playing LT is the toughest because you are facing the best who have multiple techniques. Teams know his struggles and that is usually how they attack knowing JF will feel the pressure and bail. I know Braxton is eager to improve and imagine he will work on this more this offseason. If the Bears don't feel he will make improvements, they might insurance later in the draft. This will be his prove it year and if he doesn't, look for them to go LT high next year.

I don't see Braxton able to play inside, his biggest struggle is against power/bull rush. He can pull and move well, but loses ground on straight up pressure. Going into year 3, he needs to overcome that.

Olin said JPJ could start but needs a vet line and TE to help him do it.

My trade down from 9 to land the best Center and a DE that fits Flus's stronger edge setting ends. the 2nd.

I think he will ride out Braxton Jones for at least one more year before addressing the position high in the draft. If there is one at 9, I wouldn't rule it out though. If he trades down, it will more than likely be at 9 to try to get into rd 2 so they can fill two holes with better talent.

I would be happy with it, except that 3rd round pick. No way they take TE over other needs at C, S, DE, or G. If they take a QB, they need to make sure the line is stronger than it was last year. Too many times the pocket collapsed and Caleb has a lot of the same traits as JF and he will need the protection to get established and confident.

Warren is only leaking how valuable he sees JF to help set the market. There might be a stipulation placed on trading him like 1st rd or nothing. The Bears will listen to all trade proposals for the first overall and JF and want to get the max on all opportunities.

Would Cincy be in the neighborhood without Chase though? It is geat QBs that win and sometimes it takes great tools and weapons for those QBs to reach their potential.

Flus has a long way to go to be anywhere near those names. I wish they went with offensive guru and maybe Poles sees that with Waldron and has him as a contingency plan in the future. Especially if they draft QB. I think most were hopeful for Harbaugh but for whatever reason they were not making a change this year. Drafting a QB then making a coaching change would be as the title suggests insane.

I see what matter most is coaching and Reid, who may be relaxed, has a brilliant offensive mind. Unlike Flus, who has a good defensive mind. Fingers crossed that Waldron has that brilliant offensive mind so the Bears can get the most from the QB and offense. The best QB will struggle to get there without a coach who can scheme and make the right calls.

Every piece of film on Flus has shown he is laid back. That is not a bad characteristic as long as you can put players in position to win. He has one more year to show he can add more wins and get the team to the playoffs or he may be looking for a new gig. To think if the Bears had gone after Andy Reid instead of Trestman, they could have 2 or 3 more SB wins and be considered one of the winningest franchises once again. How is Reid percieved...."Chiefs credit 'relaxed, rock-solid' coach Andy Reid for leading the way." So if Moore said "relaxed", I'm sure that would be a flag too.

Fun take by a couple of old JF teammates. When jsn says if JF gets traded, good for JF has me baffled. Kind of like CW hinting earlier that Chi wasn't a preference even though he has said he'd play for whoever drafts him. So I didn't finish my thought... I am baffled by why players don't see Chicago as a destination for QBs. Is it coaching? (many coaches over the years) personal? (not always having the great oline and weapons) or the atmosphere? (weather, media, and fans) Seems there is something holding our beloved back from having a great at the position

That might be a good reason to trade down, lol. This team is stuck with what was built for at least another year.

He did say Velus is an exciting individual to be around. He also said Scott is too raw. They are just people giving their takes, no secret meanings to any of it. We are at an age where we are connected with their takes almost instantly.

It was in a podcast posted earlier with DJ in Vegas doing many interviews. I don't think it was the one with Kat Williams.

I think the hype has elevated him into a dangerous area. He is a prospect that has good and bad points. For me, the strongest way a prospect can become a elite is going into a a great situation. That consists of ownership, gm, coaching, line, and weapons, look at Mahomes. If Trevor went to KC or NE, I believe he would be regarded much higher too. Can the Bears get him there is the question. Like Swift say, he might be best sitting a year.

What is odd, is DJ mentions out of his WR group, he would take Velus Jones with him if he went elsewhere. I hope DJ is taking him under his wing and maybe he will help him translate his abilities to becoming a performer.

Interesting scouting report. I cannot wait to see his Maye and Daniels report.

What pieces do they need to end the trend? I feel most drafted QBs need to come in to a good system like Mahomes, but then you see Stroud go to Hou with a new HC and OC and put up top 5 numbers. I think the Bears need a stud C and another good WR to have the basic pieces. Poles has put it out that the only way he budges on the #1 pick is if he is offered a historic haul. He did that last year and teams called. He will listen again this year and maybe he gets another.

That could happen but I hope the Bears commit to whoever is going to be QB by investing in the missing talent. The WR core is basically one man. DJ said in those clips from Vegas recently posted that he needs a WR. He never mentioned Mooney, which is damning, and maybe why Mooney disappeared if they didn't get along. When asked, DJ said he would take Velus with him to a new team and said Scott was too raw. Again, no mention of Mooney. The Bears need a MHJ, Nabers, or Oduze to get the offense on par and to give the QB a chance.

You for sure want to use those draft resources on expensive positions like DE. Do they make a push this year is the question, if they think they are close, Hunter makes sense and you can draft a prospect rd 2 or 3. But if they go QB, then they might not make that push this year and get offensive weapons to make the transition smoother.

Will there be a DJ Moore sighting in a SB commercial with Baha Mt Dew!? I am enjoying these interviews with him and it would be fun to see him paired with his homie MHJ. This offseason will have the fan base scrolling thru a war zone of the same debates over and over, even after the draft. It has come to labels being put on fans opinions as cultists one way or the other. What one thinks and expresses is only an opinion and it is not the end of Bear times which ever way they decide to go. This is a great time for the Bears and we need to embrace all opinions. The energy can be positive or negative and we know that positive energy feels better for all, so I look forward to feeding that with my Bear talk brothers.

I don't disagree and have been on the trade down for some time, but I also see why they will most likey draft a QB. The Bears are in a better place than the past 10-20 years with a young core. On offense, their high needs are C and WR 2. They can use upgrades at LT, LG and WR3, but can get by with what they have. Would a C and WR2 make JF a top 10 QB? Maybe with Waldron calling the plays, but if not then we might not have a shot at getting a QB who can without trading future draft cap to do so. The best case scenario on trading down is to get the #1 pick again in 2025, but will there be a QB as good as this class or better than what we have in JF. If not, then we are drafting in the 20s for years and might have to trade draft assets to get a Cutler or pay JF the 40 mil/ year and hope a switch flips on his pass play. The latter scenario I think will cost players and draft capital that trading down will net.
