Week 15 Official Game Thread - Bears at Browns, DEC 17th, 12pm, FOX, CHI +3, O/U 37
Mooney, Tonyan, Taylor (muff), kick a FG before half.... There are a few things that would change the narrative. Sad part is, the Bears are still "in the hunt" for the playoffs.

Time to let the younger players get more playing time. Scott/Jones over Mooney. Dexter over Jones. Maybe even get Hicks more reps over Jackson.

I seen enough of him. He is not a difference maker. He might be a decent #3, but he isn't worth it now when you have Scott on the team to take that roll.

QB Decision Poll
Keep that Carolina pick as a gift that keep giving. 2025 you have 2 firsts, if they have another high 2025 pick, trade that and so on. Eventually you can let your talent walk if you keep drafting well

I think they do go with the 5th year option. Fields may want a long term extension but that hasn't been earned. He will not like a rookie drafted behind him either but that forces him to do his best.

He is coming along nicely now. Getting in the turnover club.

Better put Jones back for punts?

Losing Jenkins doesn't help, at least Whitehair is a solid backup. They will need a reliable backup next year to eventually replace Davis or Jenkins in 25

QB Decision Poll
I chose 1, it will be a huge blessing if they can still draft MHJ, get a future 1st, and a 2nd this year, if not more, and take a QB later. The Bears still need more blue chips to help make any scenario work whether they go Caleb Williams or Fields. They cannot go with Mooney as a #2 or Patrick at C.

It must have been out of Santos range today is all I can think. You do not pads on any points this early. Even getting the ball back after the half.

I am saying the 25 million 5th year option signed. Still draft a QB, but trade down and gain a future 1st for 2025, and whatever haul they can get. You have Fields for 2024 and 2025 and a rookie to groom. If Fields lights it up you have a good problem and hopefully a good backup. When his contract expires after 2025, you are either signing him to a huge contract or he signed elsewhere and the Bears will get a 3rd rd comp pick. You double down on having that position set.

I though we had some of the best road graders, Davis was handled by Tomlinson.

Extended play, something great QBs can do ?

Yes, I think this is what many of us see. If Fields improves with competition and he costs more to extend, then it is a great problem to have. If not, then in 2025 Fields walks as a FA. All while in 24 you have a prospect cooking.

Trade down this year and still draft a QB. This class has 6 or so that can go round 1. We traded up for Trubisky all while KC took Mahomes 10th in that class. The top spot does not mean you get the best.

Only 7 lost fumbles in his career. Lucky yes. Flacco fumbles too. Taylor muffed a punt... gonna be some balls slipping out in the rain

And you have a rookie QB contract, so if you feel good with him you can swallow 25 million for the rest of the year. The Chiefs had Alex Smith signed for 2 more years and drafted Mahomes in 2017. In 2018, Mahomes started on Smiths last year so his salary was on the bench. Smith walked in 2019 and signed w Washington for 94 mil. Let's say the Bears trade out of 1, draft McCarthy or Daniel's at 10. Role with Fields in 2024 and see what 2025 brings. If you lose 25 million and get a Mahomes type, then it's OK to let him walk.

If JF holds out, then you have that insurance drafted. If he walks and signs elsewhere, then the Bears get a 3rd rd compensation pick which is better than nothing. The Bears could trade him in 2025 if they feel good with the drafted qbs progress. There isn't a set in stone process, there are alway options. Poles might go your route too but he would be betting his future on an unknown being ready to carry the team that is starting to show they can compete.

Trading the QB you have and drafting an unknown will not sit good with fans that deserve a great product that is starting to show fruit. The Bears can and should select a QB but there is no reason to reset the team because it might cost 25 million in 2 years. If they draft a good prospect, then JF1 has to excel to keep his job. That to me seems like a great way to bring the cream to the top and give Chicago something they have never seen in having a QB pipeline.

I he signs a friendly WR3 type deal and the Bears add a decent WR 1 or 2, he should look better.
