NFL Draft Day 3 Thread
Wondering if it’s a situation where the Bears aren’t addressing it late because they don’t have a guy they love, but they know that by not addressing it it makes their situation more attractive to UDFAs. Still I’d love to see them take a chance on Andre Carter and let the Army guy hear his name called.

First Bears draft pick I’ve never heard of before. That’s an improvement over some previous years. Seems like a PS guy.

I thought Trice might have been the better fit, but I’m good with Smith.

Brandon Joseph would make some sense as well.

At this point I’d take a flier on Andre Carter. Probably the highest upside of the edges left.

Tyler Scott another guy from the list.

Sounds like he’s a great dude too. Does all the little things, leader in the locker room, will play special teams.

I’m the trade down boat, but some intriguing guys on the board for sure.

I say trade down - the offers should be good and I don’t see a guy on the board I just have to have. If you force me to choose, give me Isaiah McGuire, Luke Wypler, or AT Perry.

Obviously it’s a round earlier for both, but I’m getting flashback to the year they took Tommie Harris and Tank Johnson.

I don’t know where the sacks are going to come from on this team.

Based on the edge guys left in the draft, I hope Poles dials up Yannick Ngakoue.

Another DT - Zacch Pickens. Like him a lot. He’s more the 3T than Dexter IMO. You have your interior DL of the future. Not sure where the edge sacks are going yo come from, but I’ll take it.

Watch the Bears use their 3rd round pick on Byron Young from Tennessee, who is 25 - just like Velus Jones last year.

Tyrique Stevenson. Prototype press corner. Nice pick.

Feels like a need pick which Poles said he wouldn’t do day 2. Also doesn’t play like a 3T. But he’ll help inside for sure.

Looking at the pick value chart, it would have to be something like 32 + 80 for 53, 61, and 103, unless future picks are involved. I think it’s more likely they have a group of players they like and maybe they move up ten or so sports using the 4th they got from the Eagles trade to move up once it looks like those numbers are dwindling.

- A Offensive Tackle Drafted By The Bears
I would like to read/hear an explanation of the switch from LT to RT. That’s generally considered a demotion but maybe they had a stud LT come in. EDIT: Found This: https://www.knoxnews.com/story/sports/college/university-of-tennessee/football/2022/08/05/tennessee-football-darnell-wright-right-tackle/10187298002/- A Offensive Tackle Drafted By The Bears
Plus, keep in mind that while Skor was a guy who was pegged as a potentially great OG who might not be able to play OT, the Bears took a guy who can definitely play OT and could probably be a hell of a guard if needed. So I would argue they maybe got the more versatile guy.- NFL Draft Day One thread.
Watched the Poles press conference on Twitter. I hope he’s good at his job because I really like him. Says that Wright was their top tackle in the draft and they were really sold on Wright’s tone-setting and aggressive nature. (He didn’t really say this because he wasn’t asked but I get the sense they think he can play LT in the NFL.) Poles went with the O-line coach to do a private workout and they were impressed that he kept performing at a high level as they tried to wear him out. They gave him terminology and had him explain in back to them, had him do sets and changed plays, etc. and he passed all those tests. His performances against top draft picks was a big plus as well. They had one other team call to move up but things never got close and they would have moved far enough down they were worried they wouldn’t get Wright. Says they made a few calls just to feel out the bottom of the first round and will see if they think they might need to move up tomorrow to get a guy in a place that makes sense but also said they could move down. The way he talked I wouldn’t be shocked by a trade up (maybe Keeanu Benton?).- NFL Draft Day One thread.
I like seeing that he stays balanced -my issue with Skorondki was that he seemed to constantly be getting bent back and barely holding onto his block, but I don’t see that with him. - A Offensive Tackle Drafted By The Bears
