Let's play a game
Hell, I'll give it a shot. In mine, no trade back in the first. FYI, we don't have our 5th rounder this year from the trade to get Vereen last year: 1. Danny Shelton, DT, Washington - I'm not sold on any of the current players as a good fit at 3-4 NT, so get the best one in the draft. 1. Cameron Erving, C, Florida State - Shore up the O-line starting with the weakest link. Might also fit at OT (the other weak link). 2. Eric Kendricks, LB, UCLA - Need a young leader going forward at ILB. 2. PJ Williams, CB, Florida St. - Future starter with Fuller. 3. Jaquiski Tartt, S, Samford - A much-needed enforcer on the back end 3. Lorenzo Maudlin, LB, Louisville - Pass rushing OLB for the 3-4. 4. Tre McBride, WR, William & Mary - Versatile - can line up in the slot or outside and return kicks. Reminds me a bit of Moncrief 6. Lynden Trail, LB/TE, Norfolk State - Another body at LB and possible developmental/red zone TE 7. John Crockett, RB, North Dakota State - If we're trading Forte, we need another body at RB.

Combine updates
Hoping these great performances by the WRs (Parker, Cooper, White) push the top defensive players down to Bears.

Pace & Fox spoke at Combine
He also talked about Jeremiah Ratliff as someone he could build around in the 3-4. Worth noting since he is generally seen as a NT, which is the same position you would project Danny Shelton to, a player a lot of people are mocking to the Bears at #7. However, Ratliff isn't nearly as big as Shelton, so maybe you could have a front of Ratliff-Shelton-Sutton, rotating in Houston and Ferguson (or something). As expected, he said in the 3-4 they would see Young and Allen as LBs, which suggests to me we've seen the end of Allen in Chicago.

Gase is OC
Brandon Marshall seems to be in favor: @BMarshall: Congratulations to my guy Adam Gase. It was good catching up and laughing with him today about the Denver Days. Excellent hire. #BearDown

Rumors of Charlie Weis being spotted at Halas Hall
For what? DE in our new 3-4?

FANGIO JOINS STAFF
I do think that if you're making this transition, you need to add at least one 3-4 LB veteran starter who can help with the transition and line up the defense (none of our LBs has even played 3-4 as far as I know). Maybe someone like David Harris from the Jets? You probably want to add one pass-rush specialist OLB in the draft.

How do Bears current personnel looks for a 3-4 conversion? We don't really have a big nose tackle, though I suppose I could see a bulked up Ego Ferguson or Paea in that role. I can see Houston and Sutton working as DEs. Not sure of Jared Allen's future with the team. I think Bostic deserves a change at an ILB position and Christian Jones and Khaseem Greene deserve consideration (though I'm not sure where they fit). This would be the last chance for Shea McClellin to show something, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Then I guess you would convert Willie Young to OLB - he's way too light to play 3-4 DE, right?

John Fox Officially hired as new HC for Bears
Can we get rid of Mel Tucker now please?

What Are Your Picks For The Bears at 7
I feel like the Bears are in a bit of a tough spot. I want someone worthy of the #7 pick. I agree that Collins isn't that guy - he'd have to really impress me to make me think he's clearly worth a top 10 pick, even though safety is obviously a huge need. I think our offensive line needs some work, but I don't think a first round tackle is the way to go (would rather move Long to LT, Bushrod to RT, and draft a OG/OC in the 2-4 rounds. I'd love Gregory, Cooper, or Williams, but I think they'll be gone (along with Winston, Mariota, and Scherff). A top-flight CB would be welcome with Tillman probably gone and Jennings declining, but there's isn't really that clear cut #1 CB. I guess that leaves a top DE like Shane Ray, Dante Fowler, or Bud Dupree, but I don't know much about any of them, and despite the lack of production at DE, we have bodies there who I think can do well if we get a defensive scheme straightened out. My hope is that one of the LBs really distinguishes himself. I recall one college LB/S that did pretty well for the Bears. I'm kind of hoping Shaq Thompson is the next one.

Hundley at QB in draft ?
I didn't watch him in the game yesterday, but he had no pocket awareness and questionable accuracy when I saw him earlier this year. Reminds me if Logan Thomas, which is not what I want from a 2nd round pick.

Emery is gone!
His performance in the last game suggests otherwise to me. He had to know that he was playing for his job, and he was disinterested, inaccurate, and ineffective. Best example is him consistently throwing the ball short of the first down marker on third down. For all the teammates who claim he's a leader and good guy, I saw the bad Jay Cutler in a game when I needed to see him at his best to convince me that he's worth keeping.

Kromer gone
I assume Mel Tucker will soon follow.

Week 17 Open Thread
Bushrod's been bad, but with all the Bears' needs I wonder if he's salvageable as a RT. Not sure his cap hit if we cut him.

Week 17 Open Thread
Our starting MLB next year should be Audie Cole.

You know you're n the chopping block and this is your offensive game plan? Trestman deserves to get fired.

Santonio Holmes is gone
Does that mean Marques Wilson is back?

Bears Win!
I agree that the defense looked better yesterday (particularly the D-line), but there were still large gaps on the field for Ryan to throw into, the Falcons just kept dropping balls or passes were being tipped at the line. I don't think they have fixed anything schematically or personnel wise that helps them beat a good QB who can find those holes.

Bears workout Trindon Holliday
At this point, someone who would catch the ball and immediately take a knee or let the ball go through the end zone would still improve our field position. I nominate myself. If even settle for the league minimum . . .

ZONE. DEFENSE. DOES. NOT. WORK. ANY. MORE. Adjust or die.

Week 3 Game Thread
Up 11 with the ball and three straight throws. I know the run has not been there, but don't you at least have to try to get it going. Cutler's going to end up with 50 throws tonight. Defense is bending but not breaking. If we were playing the Packers, we would be down big.

Briggs just looks like he's running in quicksand.

Tillman to IR
Champ Bailey? He doesn't have the speed anymore, but neither fid Tillman and zone probably suits him more st this point in his career.

Tillman to IR
The only Bear autograph I have is from Peanut from camp a couple years ago - always been a class act and great player. Would love it if we could find a spot in the organization for him.

Bears sign Santonio Holmes
Potential Wilson replacements have been underwhelming, so worth a shot IMO. If he can stay healthy (and out of trouble) he's just what they need.
