  1. This board finds a lot of players who turn out to be good in the NFL, even those who go on Day 3.
  2. We're starting to see some nearly final draft boards. There are some surprising changes or maybe wide variance in player grades from one to the next. Rotoworld has Chase Claypool list #26 overall! He was 4th Rd prospect 2 months ago. Josh Jones OT and a favorite of sorts on the board for our 43rd pick is listed #19 overall. Denzel Mims another 2-3rd prospect is #12 overall. Antonio Gibson RB/WR another oft mentioned 4th/5th Rd target for us is listed at #39. His production and lack of a formal position (meaning he couldn't win either job) moves him way down my board. https://www.rotoworld.com/article/nfl-draft-preview/norris-nfl-draft-rankings-top-50-0 Bleacher Report has two safeties ranked ahead of Grant Delpit. That could bode well for us if he's a target, or I suppose if you really value the other two they ranked ahead of him (McKinney, Winfield). https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2883386-nfl-draft-400-matt-millers-latest-2020-big-board-with-1-month-to-go#slide12 Without the normal visits and pro day info, where I think a lot of rumor mill stuff is picked up, this is going to be one interesting draft.
  3. Plenty of people working from home I see no reason front office personnel can't do the same.
  4. I think the medical red flags drop further than normal unless a team is in a position where they can absolutely take on the risk. We aren't we need higher floors on our prospects.

    RB JJ Taylor

I like Evans and Gibson. I hadn't seen anything on Dowdle but he's a good player, runs with a little fire. He's not going to get much on his own but he knows how to find the crease and get north in a hurry. Not bad for Day 3 option. He makes some Alabama players work for their tackles in this game, and he played hard right to last whistle.

    RB JJ Taylor

This is how we want Tarik Cohen to run but he's at home happy with his 4ypc. I'm not saying we should draft Taylor because his pass protection isn't that good and he's undersized so his pass catching radius (like Cohen's) isn't the best but he's a tough runner who will get north/south very quickly and he's not afraid to knock a defender down. He runs a 4.61 forty at the combine but his film shows he's faster than that. With that slow time he'll definitely be available on Day 3 and possibly even UDFA.
  7. Defenses have RPOs figured out these days. It's still something to have in the arsenal if you have a mobile QB but with Foles? We need to get back to basics of running the ball and that will help either QB on the field immensely.
  8. 100% this is a problem for our opponents. Against our 5-man front their options are to try to take advantage of the OLBs who are not good in coverage and a get a pass out into space quickly. IF, and it's a big IF at the moment, we can find the right safety to pair up with BoJack then that's less of an issue. Plus we have Roquan and Trevathan right behind the Dline and both have the speed, play recognition, and coverage skills to get to the outside and cover up the gap. The safety we get doesn't have to be someone who is really good at coverage down field just someone who is good in the box area, who can recognize the play and can close quickly. I don't see teams getting 3-4sec to throw a pass downfield, at least not consistently enough to be confident when they call that play. QBs are going to be thinking about the pass rush as soon as they have to come off their first read.
  9. LOL, I was bored doing some of the same last night. What I'd like to see at 43 First if I'm Pace I hold onto this spot waiting to see who falls to us. We have a chance to get a talent on par with late first rd picks in other drafts. For that reason don't trade back unless the offer is too good to pass up...and it should be given the talent pool in this draft. Grant Delpit S LSU Paired up with Eddie Jackson we'd have the best safety tandem in the NFL for years. He brings not only coverage skills but he's a football player who fits what we want as a Bear defender. Zach Baun OLB Wisc You can't have too many pass rushers and in a rotation with Mack and Quinn OTs would never get a break. Plus his versatility as an open field defender compliments what we're losing with Quinn and Mack at OLB. Jalen Reagor WR TCU speed (don't care about combine #s except for the fact it will help him fall to us), elite quickness at speed in the open field. Some of his kick returns remind me of Hester. He's got easy hands What I'd like to see at 50 is an OT. Josh Jones, the new Prince, Austin Jackson so I don't have to feel like our entire season depends on Leno. Depending on what we do at 43 other options to consider, and this is harder to predict because the rankings really split up in this range. Depending on which board you like players on my list below are anywhere from 40 to 70. Okwara OLB AJ Terrell CB Damon Arnette CB Kyle Dugger S Jeremy Chinn S Denzel Mims WR deep speed....and the size and hands to convert it to TDs.
  10. I'll say we grab a RB in the 4th or 5th Rd. yes that means with a pick obtained via an earlier trade down.
  11. I'm listening to his press conference. He said his knee feels the best it has felt in 4 years. I can only say this, when I watch his highlights it still seems like he is dragging his left leg a bit. His knee injury was to his right leg. He's not nearly as agile as he used to be of course but in a straight line he did show more speed than he had in his last years in Seattle. He's still good enough to win with his size, smarts, and hopefully with Nagy by taking advantage of his chances when the scheme gets him open to give us some big plays. I don't see any jump-ball receptions but at his height you can still throw him open above a DB. If we were paying him half of what we are paying him I don't think anyone would have an issue at all with this signing. At least I wouldn't. He gives us a floor in production at the position that is much higher than anything we saw last year. Why is Ryan Pace hanging onto Shaheen? We need cap space. We usually are respectful of allowing players to test the market in early in FA once we decide we no longer want them around. What's are we gaining by keeping him on the roster? I feel like he's waiting to see if he can make some draft day deals. He's not going to trade him outright so the only thing I can think of is that Shaheen packaged along with a Day 3 pick we might be able to move up higher in a given round. Even that's questionable.
  12. I have no idea what Pace offered him but I suspect it's a shot to start at RG. Long term if he makes it there but still has enough to be emergency backup OT on game day that's a win.
  13. Ifedi vs. Mack https://twitter.com/i/status/1041854874936328192
  14. We moved off Roquan right quick.
  15. I don't want someone like Bridgewater who wants the job handed to him either.
  16. "Tryout" is pretty low risk but he's definitely not a system QB like they need. Yet one of the reasons Bill B. wins is he will adapt to the players on his roster. I could even see him running a 2 QB system with different style QBs.
  17. However cheap a QB who can't throw can be. For all the complaints about Mitch's inaccuracy Newton was far worse last year. He never adapted to that new throwing motion that was required after his shoulder surgery and there's no reason to be confident he ever will.

    Offensive Line

There would be more confidence in Bars if he had beaten out Coward for the spot last year. That was a pretty low bar since Coward had never played at OG since his conversion from Dline. At this point in FA I have to agree that this was clearly not Pace's biggest concern so there must be some confidence in Bars.

    Holy Crap.

At one point someone asked if you could weld metal to plastic. Better question is can we weld Foles' head onto Trubisky's body?
  20. Meh but he's good on special teams. I hope he has competition for a roster spot.
  21. Unless something or someone very opportunistic (and cheap) happens I think we're done here: Nichols, Goldman, Hicks with RRH, Abdullah, and now Urban as backups
  22. She's his PR agent as well. It's a good depth signing.
  23. Like Floyd he has enough athleticism to catch someone if they flush him his way.
  24. Reading around the web it appears Mingo will be a core special teams player..something we didn't get anything from Lynch so that's a plus.
  25. Yes soon we will be in that lull before the draft where teams wait to see who they draft before filling out the roster on min-type deals. As a player you don't want to fall into that gap, at least I wouldn't because sometimes you get left on the outside looking in. IIRC it was about this time last year we signed HHCD.
