Urlacher on His Critics--They Don't know football
azbearsfan replied to bradjock's topic in Bearstalk
Agreed. There was no accountability for blown assignments by the coaches. But there was also no leadership from the captains. If you are a captain, you need to lead by example and get in others grills when they dont do their job. -
I like it. Hopefully he would have our DL playing better, which would make the defense much better.

Urlacher on His Critics--They Don't know football
azbearsfan replied to bradjock's topic in Bearstalk
Yeah thats funny that the "mug up" look didn't hinder Briggs' production. Weird. -
Couldn't happen to a better guy. And the Jets look like moron's now that Pennington took the Dolphins to the playoffs.
-
lol. No. He just said that he basically played just fine, so the reason the defense was terrible was not his fault. Basically saying the other guys didn't play hard or well. Not really words you want to hear from a captain of your defense. Especially the captain of a defense who came out flat down the stretch during a playoff run. And to say that anyone who criticizes him does not know football. That's laughable right there.
-
This really gives in sight to Urlacher's views. Kind of throwing teammates under the bus Maybe he needs to give up the C on his jersey
-
Dude, you have no business calling anyone's thread moronic after the stuff you post. And Bearsox, If you dont like it dont read it. The only way threads stay at the top is if you respond to it. And if alot of people respond then it IS worth talking about.

No to Martz. Yes to Shanahan. Warner can't play in cold weather and if people booed Rex for turnovers they would kill Warner. And part of the problem with Bears fans is they always go back to '85. Its twenty years ago. The league is different now. And I agree with Bearsox. The blueprint should be the Giants, Ravens, Steelers.
-
Agree. Look at the predictions post.

Everything starts in the trenches. We need OL and DL help.
-
Good. Its about time someone called out the players and their lack of effort. Hopefully he makes some decisions that will light some fires.

Smith in denial, get ready for more of the same...
azbearsfan replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
Mad bagging on Smith, huh, weird. As for the article, its pure trash. Saying 9 wins is a "coincidence" is moronic. Are there things that the Bears can be better at? No question. So after a whole article bagging on everything about the Bears and we come 1 game out of the playoffs, thats pretty good to me. And someone needs to inform this clown that 9 and 7 this year was "close" to making the playoffs. So logic would dictate that if they get better in a couple of areas (OL, WR, pass rushing DE) that they can make another SB run. As for Alex Brown, sorry to see that he didn't call out some of his defensive teammates for the lack of pride and passion. Maybe next year he and Wale can do a little better than 11 sacks between the two. That would help the defenses "attitude" problems tremendously. -
Good stuff Kyle. I too get frustrated watching the lack of heart on the team (esp defense). But they are my team. And even though I wish Lovie would hold them more accountable for that lazy attitude, I do appreciate he and JA bringing this franchise back from being the laughingstock of the league. The thing you have to remember about this message board is that alot of people do this just to hear themselves talk or show off their "knowledge". Its fruitless to argue with most and their are some which I have alot of respect for.
-
So why dont you blame Url and Brown? Its their defense. Everyone wants to bring up Lewis and Reed. It would matter if Ronald McDonald was their coach. The defense would be ready to go. Mad, you are at a point where if the wind blows the ball a certain way you blame Smith. You need to take a step back and look at the body of work. What was your projection for wins this year?
-
The point is, Mad, that even if we got Cowher, it would be a 2 or 3 years before he could overhaul the roster. And if the record isn't there in that span, you know people would be calling for him to be gone. Sometimes you have to have patience. Not something Bears fans, esp on this board, are good at.
-
So what happened when Larry Brown was with the Knicks? Great coach. Selfish players. Brown didn't forget how to coach. Again, even if they did hire Cowher they would have to get rid of all the vets on defense that wouldn't go for his in your face style. Look at Coughlin. They tried to ride is butt out of town. Then he slowly began replacing the vets with kids who do respond to that style.
-
Ahh so its bullshit, huh. Whats bullshit is you attitude for a coach who, if he wins today, will have 3 ten win seasons in five years. Plus a Superbowl appearance. This aint high school. Lovie should have to hand out little notes and put up BB material for his guys to be emotionally ready to play the PACKERS!!!!
-
Oh right, because before Lovie got here Url was a Lewis clone. Not even close, bro. What makes you think that Lovie doesn't know when players aren't giving their best effort? And what is he supposed to do about it? If Url takes a play off, is Lovie supposed to bench him for Jamar Williams? Come on man, these are professionals. If they aren't ready to earn their huge checks before a huge game that is on them.
-
Even if Cowher did come to Chicago he would have to get rid of most of the defense. You think Url would put up with him screaming at him. Sorry. These defensive vets like having a coaching that is laid back and wont give them too much crap. Remember when Lovie first came in and he held a hard training camp and demoted players when they didn't show up for stuff. All the vets did was whine and back their boys up.
-
Why should a coach have to get you pumped to play your hated rivals in a game that will keep you in the playoff hunt? I would like Lovie to get more fired up too, but that BS is on the Vets.
-
Despite all of our complaints and negative waves, this was a good win. I hope we keep it going and get int the playoffs.
-
Lets put the defense "captains" on blast too. Url, the Browns, Tillman, Wale, HArris. Those guys are vets and should be playing with some passion.
-
This is a really poor effort.
