  1. ok. But if you find me ignorant and you "know" football and all of these claims, I find it interesting that you dont know that in a cover two scheme that its not the db's job to cover the slant. Its the LB's who are supposed to get underneath it and deny the throw. The CB's are suppose to play it over the top and make the tackle once they catch it. Last game, if you watch the tape you will find the nickel and Briggs were not getting enough depth and width in their drops. And thats when I get into the technique vs scheme stuff with nfo. And, bro, I understand everything you are talking about. Just that alot of the time I just find it wrong. Plus, alot of times you exaggerate and make assumptions to prove you "know" football. I've never said that just because someone is not an NFL coach they can't criticize. Thats something you have made up and ran with. I have said that about you personally, because back when you claimed you are a better drafter than JA, I found that ridiculous and hilarious. And jason I KNOW you get mad, because I have witnessed it in all your little jabs. And that's a fun little story, and I'm glad you put it in your post, because it really exemplifies my point about you. Its not that cut and dry. What if you let the air out of the tires and the bridge crumbles, lands on the firefighters, kills them, and all the people in the cars on the bridge get crumpled on, etc, because you let a 6 year old call the shots when he knows nothing about engineering, foundations, etc ? You are like the six year old in this case. You are calling for what, you call, common sense moves. Make the DB's press and have the DE's work inside moves, etc. But what is that going to do to the foundation of the defense? What happens when the integrity of the defense is compromised because your have the leverage player working underneath the tackles block without being replaced by anybody? What happens is they start killing us with screens and the QB is able to roll and create more opportunity. What happens when you put our below average speed corners on the line? "Steve Smith" kills us. The bottom line for me is that I trust people who have the experience and training in the NFL arena, "the engineers", to help us in the event of "a bridge accident" than a self proclaimed guru "the six year old". So lets move on.
  2. What would he have said if Norwood returns it to FG range and they win like that? The point is, on something like that, if it doesn't work then everyone is going to be screaming for the other thing. Its a hindsight deal.
  3. And the downward spiral continues........
  4. What would you guys be saying today if Norwood takes it another 80 and they kick the field goal? Should have quibbed......
  5. Haha Thats the first thing I thought too
  6. Dude, Vash has been terrible this year and has been getting picked on tons. I think its also pretty telling that we had Graham out there and they continued to pick on Tillman until he got hurt.
  7. lol Or the players..... The only Pro Bowl player I see on defense this year is Briggs.
  8. And I think up until the past couple of years, you could make a case for him helping the rest of the Oline. However, he has looked absolutely terrible on anything where he pulled. Alot of times he completely whiffs when he is moving. Plus his weird "double snap" penalties are crazy. I rarely see that from other centers. I think he has been living off of his past accomplishments and it is time to look for a replacement. Oh my gosh, Tait. The thinking was that him moving to the right side would help him out. To me he hasn't been very much better than Miller last year. On the DLine we dont really have that top player. We pay Tommie like one but he hasn't played like it in awhile. It really hurts our defense when we can't generate pass rush with our front four.
  9. Part of the problem with the slants was that the LB's and nickel were not giving very good underneath help. If Briggs and Manning were getting wider to their zones instead of staying inside then we make plays on that. Since we are in the "Cover 2" less than 40% of the time, its tough to just blame that.
  10. 1) Wrong. I have never said I thought it was a good play. In fact, the first game we ran it, I said it was the one call I disagreed with. But overall this year I think Turner has done well. I know you disagree, but there will be plays that we all dont agree with during a game. Doesn't mean they are bad calls as we dont know what they are setting up. I dont pretend to know the situations that are happening on the field to make calls. Maybe they saw something upstairs that they thought they could get it. But its obviously a play he likes, so to have the same "QUIT CALLING THE FB PLAY" threads is getting old. Plus, you have said numerous times that a Forte run up the middle was better than the FB play and a reverse. I see that in fact it wasn't in this case, but you dont bring this up. 2) Yes but if Norwood, who had gotten good returns all day on us, had gotten a good return, you are saying that you wouldn't be up at arms. I highly doubt that. 3) All I have ever said is that the scheme is not bad and its the techniques in the scheme. Again, NFO and I have gone around and around in this discussion. And although you love embellishing things to suit your rants, I really only have a problem with Internet All Stars saying they could do it better than the guys in the NFL. Its hilarious actually. You have no idea what it takes to be a coach in the NFL or a GM for that matter. And I love to talk crap to you specifically because you get all upset over a message board and I find that VERY funny.
  11. I have been saying this for a couple of years. He looks like he is declining rapidly.
  12. In all honesty, probably the same 5 seconds as it did the squib. The returner for the falcons on the squib wasted time going side to side than vertically. Again,to me its a catch 22, it looks from the reports that the squib was intended to go deeper, so I guess we wont know if, executed correctly, if it was a good call or not. Looks like player execution kills the Bears again.
  13. Agree. Maybe 1 foot towards the sideline give M Brown a better chance to make a play. Plus you have to wonder if M Brown maybe is thinking he is still the young M Brown and can get to whatever when his body wont do it anymore. Just wondering....
  14. haha, Good one coach. What no letter this week? 1) Although Coach /GM Jason will tell you otherwise, I actually do not the FB play either and have said as much on the boards. However, I dont think that one play tells the story on how Turner is doing. I think he is doing just fine. You can't bash him for the FB deal and then not give him credit when we take it down the field and score at the end or get KO 300 plus yard games, etc. 2) This is really a catch 22. Norwood had been getting good returns on us all day. I guarantee if Norwood returns it 80 yards you and Coach Jason are up in arms yelling "Why did Lovie keep it deep" 3) I actually have said this too. My problem with the coaches has never been scheme, it has always been the technique (ask NFO, we have gone back and forth in this). I agree with you. The angles they use in coverage are not good all the time and it shows. I also think the thinking here is that Peanut is the best at stripping the ball so let them catch and try to get the TO. They said as much on TV.
  15. Well the time before Norwood had returned it 80 yards, so thats really a catch 22 for them at that point. Would you still back up kicking deep if Norwood gets a good return? More likely everyone is up at arms for kicking deep if he gets a good return. To me its on the defense for giving up the play. However, even that is tempered because we had two back up corners in and, due to injuries, were not able to get into 5 or 6 db situations. It is what it is. The Bears could have won this earlier with some good execution.
  16. lol If you play man to man there, our second team corners get beat to the endzone chief. Blame Brown, he the one who should have made the play.
  17. No, noone is in man to man in that instance. Last play of the game like that is a zone call. Mike Brown has to be there, he is clearly done.
  18. Yeah but Jason always says that it will work all the time. I'm surprised he didn't write a letter about it.
  19. Haha. Thanks for the post coach. I noticed that the Forte up the middle play you love didn't get it in. Care to explain.
  20. Maybe he should put down the wads of cash he is stealing so he can hang on to the damn ball
  21. At this point you have to like the way Orton is progressing so far. But its also early and the Lions. Remember that Sexy Rexy was lighting the earth on fire and was the player of the month, Call me cautiously optimistic at this point. And this is coming from a Rex backer. I dont mind the turnovers if the TD's and yards come with it. And I have always thought that we needed more than a game manager to win and its looks like Orton is more gunslinger than we thought.
  22. I think the more disappointing part is the apparent pattern of behavior. Plus the fact that he signed a mega deal that puts him with the elite. I think most of us applauded the deal, but this really puts into question whether you can give one guy such a big deal anymore.
