  1. I agree but I guess those that think he'll be signed for a few years are thinking that he was drafted three years after Urlacher and so he should last about the same. That would mean he's got another two in him but that counts this season. If he falls into the Urlacher career lifespan, we're talking about one more season and if they offer it to him like they did #54, oh boy, Jason's going to have a hissy!
  2. Call me whatever you like, it's still pure conjecture on your part. Nobody else offered him a contract. Didn't he work out for the Vikings? Maybe even do a physical for them? No offer. The Bears were already well aware of his shape. They could've easily seen something during that off season where his physical abilities "rolled off the table" and you simply think you know better, as usual. My guess is also just that, a guess. But you won't admit it about your bullshit. Let's face it, you simply don't know jack-all about the situation but your man-love for BU won't let you let this one die. Anyone here mentions Brian and you get all weepy and start defending him. Your case is weak and you ain't selling me or most folks here. It doesn't matter what his stats were in 2012, he was already old for an NFL linebacker and there was another off season where he got somewhat older. As to what Briggs said about it, irrelevant. It's like me giving props to my best buddy when he's looking for a job and I'm doing a reference for him. What do you think I'm going to say? So stats don't back you up and what happened in 2013 doesn't either. The team started out played pretty well on D before the shit hit the fan. I could play the conjecture game too... What if they signed Brian for another year and he was injured in game 1 and didn't suit up again? Do you think the Bears kinda thought he was just trying to milk them for another paycheck? They apparently did. And they weren't going to allow him to drag them through the sewer in the press. Game over. Get your tongue out of the guy's rectum for a few minutes and you might be able to see better.
  3. I agree with you on this. And to LemonJ and others above, I seriously doubt Forte was "taking himself out" as suggested. If he ran off a 50 yarder that ended on the one yard line, he was out of gas, maybe, because it was best for the team to have fresh legs in. But more than likely, it was by design and the coaches told him he was supposed to come off. To question the guy's character is out of line. Walter was the greatest of all greats of all time, so any comparison to Saint Payton is idiotic. Nobody will ever compare to him in any regard. The game was also different back then with far fewer specialists. Comparing 2014 to 1977 is also foolish. The games barely resemble each other, much less the players. If Walter was running against the defensive fronts, linebackers and safeties of today, his career would've likely been much shorter. Anything we can do to preserve a player like Forte, likely the second best I've seen play for the Bears at that position since the mid-70's, is to our benefit. Tearing him down here shouldn't be tolerated.
  4. Well then maybe he should've said "Urlacher overestimates his value and isn't signed for 2013." Because it's pretty clear based on the fact that nobody else offered him anything, he wasn't on anyone's "must have" list. And your "proof" was always sketchy at best. Frankly, your constant whining about the guy was never more than pure conjecture on your part. Are you suggesting you know more than the Bears coaches and trainers who saw him that entire off season? Is is possible that they saw his abilities degrade further while the cameras weren't on and you couldn't see him on the TV machine? It always sounded to me like the Bears were offering him the token "You're an aging star" contract so he could come back for his final season and say his good bye's. Nothing more. He was never expected to be a major contributor as far as I can tell. Did Brian do a private workout for you Jason? LOL!
  5. It sure feels like fall out there. Can we just start the season now?
  6. Anything less and he should have the decency of resigning.
  7. You're right. If he's a stud it was worth the low round pick to lock him up a Bear. Time will tell.

    SMC Workout

Whoa there fellas. Slow down. LOL!
  9. I thought your comment was hilarious.
  10. Vereen gets Fencik's old number. Let's hope he wears it well.
  11. Even in the modern NFL, I still believe RB's can get into a rhythm as the game goes on and too much rest can be a bad thing for production. But I agree if he has talent he should get carries and that will lengthen Forte's career. It's important, in this offense, that Jay get confidence in him early, like pre-season. The way that happens is Carey does a good job blocking and/or getting out into his pass patterns, whichever the play dictates. If Cutler loses confidence in him he'll be on the bench a lot more than either of us want.
  12. I agree. And by the way, I watched a little of a draft grade show the other day that McDouche was on and he didn't pick Vereen when asked the same question. To be fair, later in the show he was complimentary about the Vereen pick.
  13. Yep. I'll take 12th. You made the playoffs and from there a team gets hot and anything can happen. We're in a tough and getting tougher division (I assume based on all the changes) and making the playoffs with this O and refurbished D, I'd take my chances.
  14. True. But he gets our guys done so fast it's like ordering a sandwich from Jimmy John's!
  15. I also couldn't agree more with LemonJ. His comments are spot on. It's been amazing to see all of the activity this off season with the laser beam focused on D. Can you pick things you like, some more than others, sure! But if Emery is anywhere near as successful with the D as he was with the O last season, it's going to make all the crybaby whiners here look stupid again, two years in a row. And that's the thing, why all the constant pessimism from certain folks here? Do I expect us all to sit around a campfire and sing Kumbaya? No. But god damn man, take a look at the forest every once in a while instead of the pine needles on every friggen tree. You'll see that things look a hell of a lot healthier going forward. It's brutal reading some of the folks here who harp constantly about basically everything the team does. And if it isn't negative, it's MEH. The guys running the team quite literally could never do anything to please certain folks here abive the MEH level. Oh, unless you drafted exactly who they picked in their mock, then I suppose they'd look silly bitching. Of course they'd still find something...
  16. You can't know this for sure. I assume the same thing, that these guys will rotate in. But I also assume they'll be a big part of what happens on the field as they do so. Fresh young legs at DT, for example. And when they get to Bourbonnais, who the hell knows what'll happen? These guys could all be amazing, they could all suck. If they're awesome, we have new starters at a variety of positions, even if they're rookies. It could happen. The negativity out of you two dicks is stunning.
  17. The Bears are coming off a season where massive injuries made them look significantly worse than they really were on D. As even Jason will recall, probably, we didn't start the season in "D Sucks" mode, we got there through attrition. So with the expectation that many of those injured guys will come back this year and contribute, it may have made perfect sense to grab a corner we expect to start for the next decade over a S we didn't feel as good about. But know-it-all Jason has all the fricken answers. He's got all the scouting reports that Emery had access to, he inteviewed these guys, he scoured their pasts... Oh wait, no, he didn't. Look, I wanted a safety in the first round too but unlike Jason I'm not willing to cry like a pussy every time I don't get something I want. It's my hope that the guys running things are making their best calls with each and every pick and that they'll work their vision in the short and long term to build a champion. You can't simply say we need a safety, grab the first one you see. It might work out and then again, it might be a short term fix that you then have to fix again in another year or two.
  18. Look at you hedging your bet. Not a surprise. Now you can say, if this draft turns out to be as excellent as it looks to me, that you "always said it was one of the best drafts of the year." Of course you'll completely ingore all the pissing and moaning you did basically about each and every pick. And if it goes south, well, you have the zillion posts you made while it was going on, and you were wetting your panties, to talk about how much better of a GM you are than Emery. You've got all bases cover Jason. Well done!
  19. I'd bet against Forte having a bigger year this year than last but that's only because it looks like Carey is the kind of runner that doesn't go down. We may finally have that "goal line" guy we thought we had these last few years. So while Forte will likely have a very productive year in terms of catches, yardage, etc, he may not score as much.

    WTF moment

Ha. I think many here like the "experts" who support their opinions.
  21. Thanks. That's a good sign. I was pretty happy with most of the draft myself but I'm not a "draft expert" so it's good to see acknowledgement like this.
  22. Probably projects more as a guard. Maybe frees up Long to move outside at some point. Hell, there's probably a 80% chance he doesn't make the team being a 7th rounder.
  23. Good pick this late. Also glad to see Sam get picked by St Louis.
