  1. If the turnovers result in direct scores for the opposition yes. And since Hoyer hasn't turned it over (yet) can't make that comparison.
  2. Draft-wise I think they need to focus more on the offense this next year. Every day and Tuesday I'll say skill players first but BPA especially if that player is a QB. I'll even concede to Jason's wishes of drafting another OLman (or two). Defensively they are REALLY young and need to work on developing what they have before they start drafting on that side again.
  3. Statistically its Hoyer that's doing better. And that's 5 games for Rodgers (they've had a bye) to 4(?) for Hoyer. Was going to make the comparison to Rodgers in another thread where people were bemoaning how Hoyer is more of a game manager and can't (or won't) throw the long ball. However comparing both statistically over their careers; Hoyer has a 7.2 yds per throw average to Rodgers' 8.2. So neither is really blowing away the long game. I think the difference here is the people they're throwing to. YAC yardage is what needs to be looked at, not so much the QB.
  4. Agreed although I could see Loggains sooner than later. Especially if they fire Gase in Miami. (Haha that is more wishful thinking than anything). Also see that GB picked up Kniles Davis from KC in a trade. He's a decent runner.
  5. Well since he's still on the team and the last most recent attempt at a legitimate QB the Bears have tried, that's where you draw comparisons. And wonder 'what if'? Until he's completely gone, he's a topic of discussion. Sorta like Dallas still talking about 'what to do with Romo'? Everybody knows the answer; just no one wants to say it (not in Dallas anyhow).
  6. A-freaking-men!!! They're vulnerable after loss to Dallas. And didn't look all that great against Minnesota when they lost. They are beatable no doubt.
  7. Agreed. Still love Fox but Loggains is falling out of favor quick.
  8. Thank you. I thought the offense was starting to look way too predictable. One thing that I dont like about Hoyer is sometimes he tends to not scan the field entirely. In the loss against Indy he missed a nearly open AJ on the left in the endzone. And yesterday he missed a wide open safety valve play of Howard on the left. Had he thrown to Howard and he caught it there was no doubt it would've at least been a first down. I believe it was either late in the third or during the fourth quarter when we were working towards the endzone. And just inside or out of the redzone. Not sure if he's told to go to one of the first two reads but it seems consistent in the red zone (at least these two plays) that if Hoyer is to throw he's not scanning for all options. At least he's not throwing INTs like you know who would be.
  9. So you're saying this was all on Hoyer? There were no other faults that contributed to the loss? I'll agree that Hoyer could have done more had Loggains been able to call a better game. And Porter slipping or not; when you rush nearly 9 players there's almost no excuse to have to even worry about that.
  10. Not sure how this can be Hoyers issue entirely. Have to think there is a lot of other holes to fill. One example; Tracy Porter. He does a great job of making a pick and running it out of the endzone (actually should've probably been down in the endzone) then towards the end of the game falls down for the backbreak play to Benn. Benn who hasn't had a TD or played in 5 years(?). The team managed to hold a lead for most of the game until the end when things just started to come apart. This is a coaching issue. Porter is too much a veteran to be making mistakes like that late in a game. Apparently JAX did some film study on Howard so the team tried to use Carey with a hair more success. How many times have we heard that if you have no running game you can't pass? Redzone play relies more of short yardage success which involves more running and intermediate throws. I didn't see a whole lot of trying on the running game, especially in the RZ and the passes that they had Hoyer trying seemed to be more long gain attempts. This whole issue to me is on Loggains and to some extent Fangio.
  11. Jordan had a bit tougher go at it this week. Jags D isn't all that horrible. Lots of good young players on the team. I still want to see more of Howard but think they should pepper in some Joique Bell from time to time. He was a pretty nasty runner in his day. Maybe he doesn't have 'it' anymore but I wouldn't mind see him do another spider man jump on Thursday. Bounding bell
  12. Problem is all forms of defense have exposed Cutler for what he is. Given the strength in schedule and how Hoyer has been performing to this point, I'd rather stick with Hoyer. Truth be told, I wouldn't mind seeing what Barkely could do at some point too.
  13. I was actually thinking along these lines (yes I know, hard to believe). But given the fact this team probably won't go anywhere after week 16 hits anyhow, why not let Cutler try for a few games and see how he does? I say this ONLY as a suggestion to raise his tradable status and nothing more. If they did this, Hoyer would have to know he'd be the guy next year with the thought of the team drafting (or making a deal for) a true franchise QB. The worst he (Cutler) could do is be Cutler-esque and then it won't matter. Only concern I would have is if Cutler played poorly he'd delay the positive development of the younger players around him. Some team out there will want Cutler for his services (Miami?) . A Gase reunion might do them both some good. *Edit*. On second thought. Forget it.
  14. So how does this PFF thing work? Cumulative or one week performance? If it's cumulative then I get the love for Von Miller (1 sack?); but if it's 'per week performance' and comparing to a Bosa's performance of 2 sacks then why wouldn't Willie Young get some recognition with his 3 sack performance?
  15. And in other news; in light of Kubiaks recent re-admission to the hospital, Joe DeCamillis will be the interim HC in Denver. Yes THAT Joe DeCamillis. This despite having Wade Phillips on the team. Surely if DeCamillis can be considered even for an interim job, Dave Toub could be considered one day as an HC. They are night and day in terms of creativity.
  16. Nope, point was that right as McCown was making headway the team thought they had to go back to Cutler. And that went... Just hoping the team has learned its lesson on just how bad Cutler is.
  17. Perhaps not as much. But still miss Gould. How many missed FGs that could of been how many points?
  18. Can we please stop guessing who should be the starting QB for the Bears now? Glad to see they were smart enough to seek out Hoyer in the offseason. Very reminiscent of when McCown was here and many called it a fluke.
  19. Yeah my question was more related to whether Arkush is a realiable source when it comes to reporting on Bears football. According to Wikipedia it seems he at least has a pretty good grasp. Unless I'm totally incorrect I seem to remember this was sorta how Seattle rose to prominence. They started getting younger (and less unknowns) into the team and before you know it they had one of the most dominant teams in recent history...however short their reign ma last. I'm not frankly surprised that Fox may have more actual control than does Pace given the compared experience level. Fox has done more with less in the past. Traditionally it seems he's been able to do it quicker in the past but yes I do see improvement, however slight. Something to consider is their next two opponents are Indy and Jacksonville; two very winnable games. If that is the case the Bears are at .500. Not that it means a whole lot given the unfirm base were working with. But, I suspect in the next few weeks we'll see Trevathan return and quite possibly McPhee(?). Those two additions could significantly help an improving D. And as far as I'm concerned the offense is in better shape if Hoyer is running it. Hoyer could be Fox's newest version of Delhomme.
  20. Was watching a replay of a recent broadcast from CSN Chicago(?) where a panel (to include Arkush) were discussing some Bears news. Mostly it was about whether the Bears would win this weekend against the Colts. Anyhow a couple comments from Arkush caught my interest. I'm not as familiar with him as some of you are and was curious about what you know of him. Anyhow the first comment he made was that no team should ever 'tank' a game just to do better in the draft. (Something I'd agree with wholeheartedly). He went on to say that "no team in the NFL would ever do that." And that doing so is a "disease". The second comment was a bit more intriguing. He said he has a suspicion that Pace is not really running the operation of the team as they (Fox and Pace) had indicated earlier on. That being that Pace was in charge of getting the 53 man roster assembled and Fox was in charge of the coaching staff and whatever '53' were given. Arkush believes that Fox is "running roughshod" of the team. Leading me to believe that he (Arkush) thinks Fox could be the one making a mess of things. Agree / disagree? Being all this way in Alaska, I'm a bit removed from the day to day of what is the Bears and look forward to insight from those closer in. And by the by; my parents currently live in the Indy area so there's a bit of mini rivalry in place. They've been there since before the '06 Super Bowl. -ugh-
  21. I'll be curious to see what happens when Jays thumb gets healed.
  22. I love me some Jacoby Glenn!!!
  23. Hello Robbie? Are you still out there? Please come back!!!!
  24. Yes. A dominating defense has always been a piece of the Bears for as long as I can remember. Would hope that Fangio could one day restore that to match his rough exterior.
