Thanks. I might note I was able to watch a segment on ESPN about half an hour ago and the revered Bill Polian had some compelling commentary about this very thing. I'd quote it all but the segment was about 20 mins long. Parker Bear: One point that was brought out in this segment was that many newer rules and policies were put into play during the 2008 season but don't seem to be fairly and equitably dealt with from the Commissioner's office. That is on Goodell and I'll be the first to tell you that the guy is ineffective. Regardless, this incident is still a bad thing and highlights the problem with teams (specifically NE) getting away with 'bending the rules' over and over.

Or the message; 'as long as you don't go to jall, you can play'. Yeah, good job Dallas.

Had this been an isolated event, perhaps. But as LL pointed out, this is not the first time that the Patriots (as a whole or members within) have been linked to some unfair advantage. If Brady went rogue and chose to influence the equipment managers to customize the footballs to his liking that could even be considered separately. But taken as a whole; with the managers obviously knowing they did it, with Brady being Ok with it, at least as the investigation portrays it, and the arrogance that Kraft exhibits by trying to demand an apology then and now is simply inexcusable. Throw in the fact that as part of the investigation Brady, through his agent, refused to turn over his cell phone (texts) to the investigator. Then after the investigation is over calls the investigation sloppy shows his arrogance has no limit. As harsh as LL's recommendations may seem, I'd have to agree that they at least entertain most of his suggestions.

But the fact remains he's still not cleared of wrongdoing. Money or no. THAT is irrelevant.

Kinda sad in the context of how you phrased this. It's "too bad" that a guy was inconveniced by a double murder and had to be questioned about it. Not sure what relevance the paternity test has and that he took a polygraph by an independent investigator? How is it you phrase it again? meh?

Well played AZ. As frustrating as it is, I had no doubt in my mind that Brady knew this was going on when he was first confronted then emphatically replied that he knew nothing of it. His lie was almost too transparent . Be that as it may, nothing more than a slap on a wrist will be felt by Brady whereas I fear the employment termination of a few equipment guys is looming. Sad.

Gotta love the Cracker Dog way to an answer.... (bolded). Have to say that with words like "...Brady PROBABLY was aware..." I'm convinced not much more will come of it. Oh well, wash our hands and move along.

Soooo....thought I'd repin, repost or whatever it is you do to bring up an old topic. With the news of the 'investigation' being completed I'm curious now what thoughts are. And more importantly what should be done? Does Brady suffer some sort of setback for his wiliness to evade the truth? Or is it all on the team?

I was just curious about what made Stein tick so I found this article. It's circa 2013 (don't hurt yourself thinking about a dark time not all that long ago) but his characteristics seem to hold true to this day. Being with the organization since 2007 (one of the longest tenured staff?) and a former agent shows he definitely has the 'know-how' for the job. http://chicagosidesports.com/cap-guru-clif...rs-competitive/

Did I miss something? Didn't Collins decide to leave the draft so he could be present for the interview on Monday? And in the meantime threatened that if he wasn't drafted in the first three rounds he would pull himself out so he could try again next year? Now he's possibly going to sue the NFL "if he's cleared"? What does that mean "if he's cleared"? Last I heard he was only a person of interest. Presumably he's either very sure he's got nothing to worry about or it's false bravado. Something doesn't smell right. I'm sensing shades of Aaron Hernandez.

No you're right, Pace did good. Nothing too risky or flashy. Outside of White he kept it between the lines and found some good fill for the holes that were open. When you pick your first rounder in the top 10 you have to get a year one starter. Pace did that.
-
Was intrigued by the Carden pick. The write up says he's Favre like with his gunslinger mentality. (great - just what we need...?. Watched some video on him and he's got an ugly release. Kinda looks like Bernie Kosarish. Oh well, since Pace picked him he might have a better chance to make the roster than Fales. I guess this will be the flyer.

Still no QB? Hmmm... Like the TE add.
-
I don't see this as argument. Or really a disagreement. Because essentially we agree minus a few points. I'll give you that between Emery the Ass and Pace the new kid, I like Pace hands down. Whether he's worth his weight long term, and this draft means anything, still remains to be seen.
-
You're missing the point. That being, just because he's made "smart picks" doesn't necessarily mean they are. All they've done is do well in college. That doesn't always translate to long term success. See Gabe Carimi and Chris Williams for the projected 1st round talent to prove otherwise. And to say we've always drafted poorly is a bit of a stretch. Especially when you still have 13 drafted players on the team, most of which WILL play next year and probably beyond. I'm right there with you that this feels different (better). Im just not AS giddy as you.
-
Right, nor have any of the three drafted yesterday or today. But of the list I provided, almost all (save Vereen and Washington and maybe Wilson) have a very good possibility in contributing to the team long term. Except also of course Briggs and Tillman.
-
You're letting the giddiness of these drafts get the best of you. Yes its possible that all three of these guys end up being HOF'ers. A lot has yet to be seen. What we do know of the last number of drafts of who we did get: Kyle Long, Kyle Fuller, Alshon Jeffery, Matt Forte, KaDeem Carey, Marquess Wilson, Will Sutton, Ego Ferguson, Cornelius Washington, Brock Vereen, Jon Bostic, Lance Briggs, Charles Tillman all came through our team's draft. Most of these guys are either still with the team and/or had pretty successful careers after being drafted. So let's not get ahead of ourselves.
-
I'll give you props on the Grass pick but let's not get carried away.
-
Are either a QB because I believe Pace said he believed in drafting a QB every year didn't he?
-
I can't believe we're agreeing again. Jason made a case for this guy some time ago and one of the things I like about him, besides his leadership capabilities, is his familiarity with Kyle Long. Should help in the long term aspect of the line in their knowing each other already and how the other works. Definitely ok with him being drafted in the 3rd and given his rather high rating, this was almost what you call a BPA.
-
At 218? Unlikely.... Maybe his best hope is to evade them. Might as well line him up at LB, that's where he'll end up being pushed to. * Edit: This article lists him as 320 which looking at his picture, makes more sense. http://www.tallahassee.com/story/sports/co...draft/21697401/ And since Dick Butkus likes the pick, so do I. Although I don't know much about him. Only 27 starts. that could be a good and a bad thing.

Not sure why you would say that. You and I have approached our thoughts on Cutler in similar fashion and although I'm not a fan of Cutler's I'm still in it to win it. I can't blame what Pace has to deal with in Cutler mostly due to his contract. And whether he (Pace) had it in the works to trade him away we'll never really know. He seems like a smart kid and will do what's in the teams best interest. Heck he played at Eastern Illinois so he almost is forced to be a Bears fan. At any rate, I think with Cutler as QB this year, if in fact they decide to stay with him, he'll have no more excuses to be an f-up. Fox is not Trestman and will pull the plug when the time comes (I predict it will be soon in the season). Believe me when I say that I've thought many times to change my allegiance, especially after Lovie was fired, but realized I bleed Orange and Blue. And despite the last couple years of futility and the lesion remaining, namely Cutler, I'm still convinced the antibiotics known as Pace and Fox will get things on the right track. Think more after that hangover has worn off. You'll feel better about it.
-
Yep...what a bummer. Giants made a trade to get him so he was highly regarded. C'est la vie.

Have to consider what Charles Leno, who was drafted in the 7th last year, can contribute. Not that its saying much he was designated with "All MWC" honors twice in his career with Boise State. (Darryn Colledge and Ryan Clady are both products of Boise St by the by). Haven't seen him play too much. AND have to consider it was Trestman and Kromer evaluating O talent the last couple years. And on the other side you have Brock Vereen who actually did play last year and didn't show much. But also had Mel Tucker running the show. When it comes down to it, I feel you have to look at what you got and what you need. There is no question the D needs all the help it can get, more so than the O. And when you're weighing the need at OT vs Safety, safety wins. Especially long term.

Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. I see why Pace is a huge fan. Looking forward to seeing what he does with AJ. Should be exciting!!!!
