Yes thank you for clarifying. I was almost going to label you insane.

Although I'm not a huge fan of Maiotta's I'm lesser of Cutler's, especially the amount of money he costs...and he just turned 32...and he hasn't proven anything worthy of his contract....despite all the OC's/Coaches he's played for...and all the catering he's had thus far....yadda yadda The porous OL you always talk about is something, in your opinion, that never goes away. But just two years ago, when they managed to stay healthy, they didn't do all that bad. I'd rather not re-tread that path. Realistically though, in a 1st round such as this year's, can you make more difference in drafting a top notch OLman or a blue chip prospect like Mariotta? While getting rid of a money laden "non-franchise QB" in Cutler? But before I commit myself to this argument, I would contend that there are other lesser-known QB's in the draft (Hundley, Petty, Grayson) who could be just as intriguing to replace Cutler. I'm not sure the argument could be made there are numerous holes in the defense to fill with all the prospective FA's that were signed and not a few of them possibly sticking. Like the OL, I don't see one player in the draft making that much an impact. Unless its at Safety where I think Collins could be a huge long term difference maker. I wouldn't deem it "insane" an idea, just not probable...unfortunately.

Well considering there is an alleged quote from Lovie about how Cutler will be a great QB for the team, and it apparently happened "Thursday night", I'd tend to think it wasn't a substantiated rumor. More a speculative rumor. Or a fantasy type rumor as another poster commented. Still, pieces to the story could play out...theoretically.

Speaking of interesting trade rumors. http://tampa.suntimes.com/tpa-sports/tampa...ga-trade-bears/

I did see what you did there, very clever. You can almost gurantee that somehow, someway NE will be involved in the trading from the outset (they always are). And before you know it they'll have five picks in the first two rounds. Another strong and possible contender this year is Philadelphia. I suspect Chip is up to something with the stockpiling of talent. I don't see him really needing or wanting to keep Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley and Tebow all on the roster. I especially see him trying to dangle Bradford to someone. Same with the RB situation. He's got both Matthews and Murray now. Both are at some point going to cost a ton of money. Is he angling to get Mariotta? We'll soon know.

The very fact that mocks change literally every week if not day proves NOONE has a fix on how this will play out. Heck most GMs (save TB) are only really guessing on who they'll pick when their turn comes. It might be noted that most mocks don't figure in any draft day trades and the impact that could have. One of those throws everything out of whack. All we can do is spectate.

It'll be an Alabama alum. Either Collins or Cooper. Although when it's all said and done, I hope Shaq Thompson figures in the end. One thing I do know is the draft will be just about done this time tomorrow....thank gosh!

In case you think that because the criminal process played itself out and proved "no guilt" does not mean the person was not guilty. Take OJs murder case against Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman as an example. Although not proven guilty in his criminal trial he (OJ) was found liable in the civil trial that followed afterward. The results of a civil trial can be just as damming.

Still the answer is without a doubt: NO. I would just as soon take 10 Cutlers and Cade McCown as their backup before one Winston.
-
Scary thing is where he is at is literally the middle of the state. Which has the most extreme weather. 90-100 sometimes in the summer and -30 to -40 in the winter, or worse.
-
Not many. But yes there are a few. Seems more Hawks and Puckers than anything. And a fair # of Vikings too. Especially at work.

Thanks Lemon. Proud to be a 'brother Bear' with you.

Not me. He's about 400 miles north of me. And has me beat with memorabilia.

At the risk of Stinger chiming in I'll say do you recall where we were the last time our team went 10-6? And how now it could be considered an improvement? Oddly enough, Fox was dismissed from Denver after going 12-4 and being one year removed from a SB appearance. Anyhow, that being said yes Id have to agree with O'Hara. I saw the same article. He's right that there is still too much talent on the offense to not be good...despite Cutler still playing. And with some of the upgrades on defense and the draft yet to come I can't see how the defense could be any worse. But when it's all said and done I think what really is going to make a difference this year is the GM and especially the coaching staff. With Fox, Fangio and Gase running the show I have much more faith than I have the last few years.

Just read a pretty cool article about him in SI. Have we talked about him? VERY a interested. http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2015/0...rospects/33463/

I'd agree somewhat especially with all these 1 year signings. Emery did virtually the same thing for a year or two yet Pace is getting better press out of it. But one of the BIG differences is that John Fox not only was hired by him he has him there helping with talent evaluation. And he and Fox have built a pretty reputable coaching staff. So far the signings make sense and the draft will underscore how successful he (Pace) is. I'm thinking positively at the moment.

I know you live for my responses but all I can say here is touché.

I'll say this. Although Im really disappointed in Tillman leaving, I'm not nearly as bothered by it as I was with Urlacher. Don't get the feeling I did then that a 'Bear legend' departure was mishandled. So far so good with Pace and crew. Seems to be a class act. Good luck Peanut and here's to success at retiring the way you want to!

I was actually the one that drew comparisons to Singletary. Mostly due to the replicated size and that you were making the comparison to how 'small' he was which Stinger attempted to substantiate. I was going to use Urlacher as a comparison but we all realize he was much bigger at 6'4" and 250ish. Oddly though he started as a Safety and beefed up through college. He was closer in weight coming out of HS. Anyhow the fact he was a safety and ended up as a LB is as intriguing as having someone as Thompson who could theoretically do the same in reverse. Where Urlacher was larger he was also quick. Thompson is quick and I'd agree that maybe he'd be better in space. Maybe instead as an OLB rather ILB? Would be have to rush the QB each play? No. In fact it would be better to have him there to cover the intermediate passing lanes. With his safety experience he'd be perfect for that. And by the way another cool fact about him is his versatility. He also played RB a few times for Washington last year. I will agree with you that as time wears on I don't see him as a second rounder anymore. Wouldn't be surprised to see him still there in the 3rd. Which is where the Bears should take him if not sooner.

Mike Singletary: 6'0", 230. Mason Foster: 6'1", 240.

What happened with your love for Collins out of Alabama? I think there is something to be said for the history at the position (nod to Terra Tor) and he could be the long term solution there. Or don't your think he'll be available at 7? I really like the Thompson pick. I've been a huge fan of his since Bucky Brooks paired him to the Bears in his mock many months ago. And I'll give you credit on your offensive side with choosing Cooper as your first pick. But I'm surprised you didn't mention Grasnu (spelling?) as either a third or fourth rounder? Although I'm not surprised you liked Fisher at #2.

Agreed, the future at this point needs to be looking at the D. But with consideration at BPA. If you find a great skill player you almost can't pass.
-
So let me get this straight, when Rodgers is 'harassed' it's because of blown up plays and many guys doing the wrong thing. Whereas, and if I understand you right, the Oline was more or less the sole reason for Cutler's issues? What happened to all the players that were "running the wrong routes"? And Cutler throwing into double and triple coverage? Or when he holds the ball too long and fumbles? Or when he notoriously decides to take the offense play-calling into his own hands and audibles to the wrong plays? Does none of that contribute to his play? Again, it comes down to who was running the offense. And that last year's oline was more a hodge-podge assembly than it was the year prior. As you agreed, McCown did well in his starts two years ago as did Clausen in his one last year. The oline difference in the two years? Consistency of the manning.

Bleacher Report: Bears looking to move up for Mariotta
Alaskan Grizzly replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
This might be the most sensible idea. There is a lot of like for Cutler in the Tenessee area. I'm not sure the option of this years 1st and next years with Cutler for #2 overall is enough though. With the money Cutler demands and Cutler being Cutler it can't be very inviting for Ken Whisenhunt. He's dangling by a thread as it is, bringing Cutler over would most certainly send him to the unemployment line next year.
