Week 2 Official Game Thread - CHI @ TB, 9/17, 12pm CDT, CHI +3, O/U 41.5

I’m not sure whether you knew this (and you’re being facetious) or it was pure coincidence but apparently Collingsworth owns PFF. I just learned this this morning when listening to LeBatard and Stugotz. -
Because it’s doomsday Monday, I found an entertaining X-Tweet (below). Turns out he’s 16th overall in passing yards, *but tied for second with 5 other QBs for INTs - Josh Allen among them.

Good analysis. From what I saw in this video, Getsy was calling plays to try and help Justin. IE: Right after he 'got blasted two times in a row' he called a quick release play to try and help him not have to read the field too long. Even earlier on when you saw some of the plays develop Justin should have hit the receiver the design was there for him to succeed. So I'm more hesitant to blame all of this on playcalling. However I would say as much as Justin is to blame for a lot of the miscues there were a few times highlighted in this that the supporting cast didn't do their part either. Kmet's drop on the sideline and Claypool not executing his break as examples of that. For whatever reason Justin came out early and played well but became blinded after the first series. I would agree to some level that he is regressing which to me is a HUGE disappointment. I also agree with this analyst's view that a change (probably at QB) is coming soon. As the old saying goes, the Chicago fans favorite QB is the backup QB.

Welcome back Mad. Glad to see you around again. A neighbor or mine is a huge fan of the Lagavulin whisky and I always think of how you loved the stuff when he brings it out. ?

I would normally say this is crazy but things like this worked for the Saints when they had Brees and Hill playing together. Deebo Samuel is a gadget player of sorts and works great in the SF scheme. Maybe something to it. It’s not like you couldn’t use him more as a RB anyhow. He did get over 1,000 yards last year. ??♂️ -

I appreciate your optimism. I’m in agreement that not all is lost despite having to play KC next week. Stranger things have happened . -

Yep. Both sides of the ball play calling was garbage. Don’t suppose you were one of those guys they showed in the Manchester pub earlier? -

Ugh. Justin is getting time and just watching his receivers run routes. Moore’s gonna ask for a trade before long. -

Evidently it’s ok for the offense to do that. As Evans gets away with a HUGE one for his large gain. Absolute bullshat. -

The hallmark of this type of defense. A cause of many ulcers. -

And Johnson got burnt on a crossing pattern. I’m done with both Jackson and Johnson. Not too many great plays by the defense…so far. Meanwhile the ST does nice in a blocked kick ? -

Stevenson is getting big time exposed. -
I think the Davis situation makes more sense now that we know what was going on behind the scenes. And I have a feeling Claypool will be pulling his head out after last week. I expect (and hope for) great things from him.

To have gone through what it sounds like he was (Davis) and still try to practice and play is truly commendable on his part. Makes a lot of sense he was distracted by his personal life. Take the time you need Nate, football will still be there. Maybe time to see what Feeney can do? And I see Collins will be brought up to help In the meantime Blackwell is also listed as a ‘no go’ for tomorrow. We’ll be digging deep into the CB depth chart for players. -

I think what you did is what my daughters refer to as ‘spilling the tea’. I agree, this weekend could be interesting. -
Sure, but a guy who’s only marked success may have been while HELPING to coach the oline doesn’t seem like the smartest way to do business. Anyhow, did a little more reading and Getsy also attended (and played for ) the University of Pittsburgh so possibly that’s the connection between he and Janoko.

DC Williams not making the trip to Tampa due to personal reasons. Flus to make defensive play calls . -
Got to thinking how could the Bears better help Fields? I realize that ultimately Getsy is responsible for the scheme of the overall offensive game and Fields is responsible for execution. But who is Justin’s position coach that has his ear after each offensive series? Right now that guy is Andrew Jonocko. Who? Yeah that’s what I thought. He apparently played ball at the University of Pittsburgh as a BACKUP QB his whole career. (Thats almost as illustrious as being an AFL QB for six years and playing for four different teams during that time - at least Nagy was the starter when he played for the ‘Fightin Blue Hens). Anyhow, I digress. Jonocko has been coaching for the last 11 years, seven of those while with the Vikings. During his time with Minnesota the team was most successful while he was an ass’t or co-OFFENSIVE LINE COACH. Not a QB coach. How is this the guy working with Justin on seeing the field and analyzing plays between series? For me I’d like a more seasoned position coach or at least one that has some legit playing time in the position. Surely there’s a former 1st round pick (except for Mark Sanchez) out there somewhere who’s available to do just that? Or better yet, maybe a former Big 10 QB who has been coaching that could work with Justin on ‘seeing the field’? Anyone on Harbaughs staff in Michigan? Anyone?

First, anymore than three wins is an improvement. ?? I’m still waiting to see how ‘legit’ Detroit is after their first week win. There’s no doubt they were prepared to play and took advantage of the opportunity they were presented. That’s how you do it. But knowing the Lions history, we’ll just have to see how this plays out. GB is still an apparition to me. I don’t think Love is as good as our team made him look last week. Their success still remains to be seen. And if anyone thought Minny was going to come in and re-take the NFC North title…definitely not looking good. They seem to be their own worst enemy. Point being, I think the NFC North will be there for the taking (it won’t be the BEST division for sure). But if the Bears can stay at or just above .500 this season, I think they’re in the mix .
-
And just like that the defending NFC North Champion Minnesota Vikings are 0-2. And this despite Kirk Cousins throwing 708 yards for 6 TDs and 1 INT over the course of two games. Tonight he lost to Jalen Hurts who is averaging 181 yards a game and has thrown 2 TDs and 1 INT in that same span (and his team is 2-0). Heck, Hurts’ overall total of 363 yards in two games is less that Kirk's 364 yards from tonight's single game. Crazy.

Official word on Gordon’s status. Off to IR. Stroman elevated to active roster. Question is who plays opposing CB and NB? I suspect Stephenson will stay outside and Blackwell (depending on his own hamstring issues) will be in for NB or some combination there in. -

Some issues in the CB room with regards to depth. There is some speculation (elsewhere) that Stevenson could play NB. A position he was familiar with while playing at Georgia. (Who knew? I didn’t).
