We'll know if we lose Melton before the draft.

I like the overall draft. Just don't like the 2nd pick. How about an OG prospect or another LB?
  3. Babich did not have Julius Peppers. Plus, you know who was pulling the strings on that D. Sometimes coaches get a bad rap because of who they work for...

Briggs did have a great season, but he did it by being a smart football player. That being said, he is still effective. He just isn't explosive like he used to be. Don't be surprised if he tails off a more this year. What worries me is that we need some athletic plays from our LB core. Hopefully our red shirt guy and whoever we draft wil provide.

My thought is that the D will remain solid with a few learning bumps along the way. We badly need a talent infusion at the LB position. I'm in the minority on this board that feel Urlacher was below average last year. Also, looking at Briggs, I found him to have lost a step. Both of our star linebackers will need upgraded in the next couple of seasons and Roach has hit his talent ceiling. On offense, I expect the same thing I expected last season. That we have a learning curve to overcome with the OL, as I expect at least a 40% turnover, again. The offense won't be good out of the gate, so they will have to ride the fast start the defense usually starts the season with. If our O is top 20 by the end of the season, we may be one of the hot teams going into the playoffs.

Are you referring to 2011 or 2012? From what I've seen their 2012 defense was horrible. I hope it was due to talent deficiency. Casserly was saying how badly they needed and impact defender earlier today. Anyway, I know absolutely nothing about him. Here's to his success!
  7. I'm not an expert, but I say 2nd round from what I see on the field.
  8. Hoke, Horton, Ryan or Singletary...
  9. Tebow is a great guy, but the circus that follows him is not worth anything he brings to the table. Hell no...
  10. Take the whole girlfriend saga out of play. What I saw from Te'o was a guy that benefitted from a dominant defensive line and MLB friendly defensive scheme. To me, he does not look like 1st round talent. Being productive in college is nothing like the pro's, especially when your talent is maxed out. Sometimes when a player, especially from ND, gets media hype, it's easy to get an elevated opinion of that player. Time will tell.
  11. Babich had Alex Brown and a gimpy Tommie Harris. Marinelli had Julius Peppers. Nuf said...

    Tice gone

Not surprised. He'll never be labeled an OL guru again.
  13. I don't this on anything like it as piling on Lovie. It simply goes to show that coaches and players sometimes fail. Did it happen a lot under Lovie? Heck yes it did. Graham is playing well, so good for him.
  14. I liked it most when he said, "we will dominate the line of scrimmage, on both sides of the ball". I know it's easier said than done, but it's really great to know THAT is the mission. I'm looking forward to see the plan for the OL.

    You know I'm in.
  16. Sorry, didn't know where to put this... Just saw Clayton on ESPN talking about Arians saying, Arians was set to bring in Ken Whisenhut to be our OC and Russ Grimm to be OL coach. I like what we have, but this would have been exciting as well.
  17. This is all weird to me. I can understand why a new coach would want his own guy, but from what I see Marinelli is wanted. Marinelli must be mentally done with the Bears after the firing of his friend. But for him to leave his team is bizarre for a few reasons. 1) We as a team have a chance to win. 2) Our D is good. 3) He is under contract and would figure to want to stay with his coaches and players. I'm sure there are things we do not know. From what I am hearing it just doesn't add up mentally. All said, if he wants to go, I'll take the Samurai for a spin.
  18. No offence taken. In looking at it you are correct. To give closer proximity to the issue, I'll narrow it down to ESPN and NFL Network. The commentary and stories over the last 2 weeks was simply irritating. And the irony of the whole Lovie saga was irrisistable.
  19. The entire week after Lovie got fired, the media shoved our 10-6 record up our keesters. Saying how bad it was to get rid of Lovie. Heck, even Da' Coach chimed in with his displeasure. Then, they ripped our incompetance in the form of Emery having 13 candidates for HC. Now, Emery strikes fast with his decision and we become 2nd page news to Chip Kelly to the Eagles. Listen to real NFL people say how great a move it was to hire Trestman. To finish my rant, where the heck is Lovie going to be HC? Eight openings and he's not a finalist for anything. F#%$ you media!

    Terra's New Mock

Id rather sign a LT and draft Jones to play G/C.
  21. I'm good with it. I've been hearing great things from respected people about him. Even though he's not my 1st choice, he's not a bad one. Looking forward to the presser.
