FWIW, Jalen Carter started the season hot and has faded off the radar the last six weeks. He has five sacks and 8 QB hits. Gervon Dexter started the season slow and has been trending up. He has one sack and 9 QB hits. It will be interesting to see how the next three games go...

I believe this is answered at the ownership level. Some owners want to win at all cost, while others are in it for sustained income. As far as the Bears are concerned, I feel they have entered the win phase, especially with Mother McCaskey in her twilight.

My question, because I hadn't heard the scenario; would they consider keeping the coaching staff together while dumping Fields? (Suggesting it would be a ready built situation for a new QB). He was like most of us; new QB, new coaches.

The feud thread got locked, so I moved this here. What interesting is your list of elite QBs includes Purdy. Purdy has no elite traits whatsoever. Rather he is the poster child for using draft capital elsewhere to build the best possible roster around an average QB. Hey AZ, I need some clarification on the above comment please. My value system says Brock Purdy has three elite traits. (Accuracy, anticipation and processing). I'm guessing you are talking classic physical traits. Purdy's traits are the same as Montana, Brady, Brees and Fouts.

I remember Parcells wouldn't even consider a QB that didn't have multiple years of experience. Times have changed...

I find it odd that this thread is titled "back to reality" and first two paragraphs begin with personal opinion. Sorry Stinger, had to bust your balls for that. My reality, based on statistics, wins and losses and execution tell me Fields is gone. He has proven to be a more athletic Mitch Trubisky. That being said, Poles must have conviction on one of the top QBs. If it's a solid conviction, you take him at one. Can't take a chance on someone else taking him. My pick is Maye. Now that QB is off the board, there's no way we can get MHJ without trading back up. It would be a steep price, because we don't know who covets him. Poles has shown us that he probably won't do that. In comes Brock Bowers. He may be a bigger difference maker than MHJ. TE's that run a 4.4 and have glue for hands are rarer than WR's not named Moss or Megatron. Bowers is my pick. With a FA side of Tee Higgins. It's going to be a crazy 4 months of cuts, trades, FA signings, extensions and draft choices. May the dominos fall our way. Bear down!

Yes, current. Fields is barely better than Trubisky, who you roundly bounced. Eye test, stats and wins say, they are one in the same. You can argue eye test all you want. The rest is etched...

It doesn't matter who replaces Fields. The are 10 elite QB's in the world and he isn't one of them. He fits in the average category, which won't get you anywhere beyond PR fluff from Halas Hall. We need to get a guy that has the "it" factor. No stopping untill that's achieved...

Patrick is a turnstyle. Other than that, the OL can't settle into a rhythm due to Justin, not being able to "throw" the extra man out of the box. The reason Mahomes has all day is because if you blitz him, you pay. We can draft Justin's replacement and still address center and RG. If Davis is able to come to camp in shape, we'll have good depth in the middle.

That's what happens when you have pressure to perform. Relaxed and confident players don't choke often. The quarterback instilling confidence is what changes the dynamic. Fields ain't it.
