  1. Dt, we'll be fine short term.Have enough to get us thru, plus there will dt cuts when camp starts and even after the draft. I have no faith in Bostic and with Briggs coming close to retirement, we need the help. Back 7 was our biggest liability last year and I hit it hard
  2. Just did a draft....big fan of Andre Williams VIEW EACH TEAM'S DRAFT 14 CB DARQUEZE DENNARD MICHIGAN STATE 51 ILB C.J. MOSLEY ALABAMA 82 S AHMAD DIXON BAYLOR 117 RB ANDRE WILLIAMS BOSTON COLLEGE 156 QB DAVID FALES SAN JOSE STATE 183 DT DANNY SHELTON WASHINGTON 191 OT WESLEY JOHNSON VANDERBILT
  3. TIMMY JERNIGAN, Florida State (6-1½, 302, 5.03, 1-2) ? Third-year junior. "For his size he's exceptionally strong," one scout said. "He's the man-child in the weight program there. You see that power on tape. He does get swallowed up. His effectiveness as a nose can get nullified. He's going to have to be a three-technique. I still think he's got enough body quickness and tremendous raw power. Power is his main asset. He's not a true nose unless you're tilting him." Started just one season, finishing with 139 tackles (25 for loss) and 8½ tackles. "Just a try-hard effort guy," another scout said. "He's not stout. He's just consistent." From Lake City, Fla. "He starts and is a good player," a third scout said. "Like him, don't love him. He'll fade on you. You won't see him sometimes. He has really good three-technique quickness but not first-round three-technique quickness. He has some strength, but he'll get swallowed up by some big people." Wonderlic of 20. DEVONTA FREEMAN, Florida State (5-8, 205, 4.54, 3) ? First 1,000-yard rusher (1,016) for Seminoles since Warrick Dunn in 1996. "He's a tough guy and he does everything," said one scout. "He's just not big. That's the problem. He tries in blitz (pickup), but that will be an issue." Third-year junior with 404 carries for 2,255 yards (5.6) and 30 TDs to go with 47 catches. "Love him," another scout said. "Not high (in the draft) but love him. That (expletive) is a football player." From Miami. "Pretty exciting little player," said a third scout. "Very focused. This kid will never be a problem." KELVIN BENJAMIN, Florida State (6-5, 241, 4.65, 1-2) ? Seminoles' best WR since Anquan Boldin. "Really like his up side," said one scout. "He's actually a little more fluid for a big guy getting in and out of his breaks but he's not as fast and certainly not near as smart as Evans. He's going to be a project. Good kid. He could have really used another year in school." Turned 23 in February but academic woes (Wonderlic of 7) delayed his arrival in Tallahassee until age 20. After redshirting in 2011 and backing up in '12, he broke out in '13. Finished with 84 catches for 1,506 yards (17.9) and 19 TDs. "Boom or bust," another scout said. "You can see some flashes. Little bit inconsistent, there's lack of speed and some stiffness." From the football hotbed of Belle Glade, Fla. "I should like him more," a third scout said. "I just thought he was a prima donna. That was his personality on tape." TELVIN SMITH, Florida State (6-3, 222, 4.50, 3-4) ? Played 54 games but started just 15. "It's a projection (inside)," said one scout. "Unfortunately, he's undersized. Does he have the instincts? Yes. Is he a take-on guy? No. Can he cover a tight end? Yes. You do the best you can." Played the weak side for the Seminoles, finishing with 214 tackles (29 for loss), seven sacks and 10 big plays. "He's a very good lateral player," said a second scout. "Can he make plays 10, 12 yards off the line of scrimmage? I don't know because he was a forward player there. But he is a really good athlete." Called "stiff and straight-line" by a third scout. "I don't know what you do with him," a fourth scout said. "He looks like he's a tiny person. He's a good player, but 215 is kind of tough." From Valdosta, Ga. CHRISTIAN JONES, Florida State (6-3, 239, 4.74, 3) ? Said one scout: "No instincts. Looks the part. No instincts." Started 37 games outside and just two in the middle, but several teams are taking a hard look at him inside. "If you look at him you'd say he'd be a great inside backer," a second scout said. "You could do it but you're just not going to get the most out of his ability. Now if you play him as an outside 3-4 guy that rushes a lot, he'd be much more natural. Florida State moved him to a down DE spot and I thought their defense started to play much better." Finished with 225 tackles (24 for loss), eight sacks and seven big plays. "He's always been a guy that sits behind that three-technique (DT) and just runs and chases and hits," said a third scout. "Athletically, he could play inside, but it would take some time for him." Willie, his father, was drafted in the second round by the Raiders in 1979 and had 10 sacks in '81. From Winter Park, Fla.
  4. TERRENCE BROOKS, Florida State (5-11, 199, 4.42, 2-3) ? Served as dime back in 2011 before starting two years at safety. "He's athletic, fluid," one scout said. "Not a killer. Not great in space, but OK. He can be physical. Got good range. Fills the alley. Good ball skills." Finished with 126 tackles (9½ for loss), five picks and 15 passes defensed. "If he can ever clean up his consistency with tackling...he should be a starter," a second scout said. "Really good athlete. He doesn't have great size but it's good enough. You'll feel comfortable with him back there. He's a great communicator. He puts the work in." Wonderlic of 23. "You don't see the speed translated to the field," said a third scout. "If he can put it all together from a vision, mental and physical standpoint he's good enough to start at some point." From Dunnellon, Fla. LAMARCUS JOYNER, Florida State (5-8, 184, 4.51, 2-3) ? Started 27 games at safety as a sophomore and junior before moving to CB in '13. "Earl Thomas isn't very big and the guy from Iowa (Bob Sanders) wasn't very big," one scout said. "Smaller guy but flies around and blows people up. Little stiff for corner but there's places where they can get away with it. Just a good football player. He's a fun kid to be around. At school they call him the Frisbee dog because he's chasing everything down. If people go three wide you can stay base and move him down. If he has to tackle a (big) back one-on-one in space 10 times a day then that means you've got more problems than him and you're (expletive) up up front." Had a 37½-inch vertical jump. Finished with 197 tackles (10½ for loss), eight picks and 15 passes defensed. Wonderlic of 13. "He's a great player but he's so (expletive) small," another scout said. "He's a good little nick (nickel back)." From Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
  5. Take one Nole of the list and hurts typing being a Noles fan. If the dumb ass couldnt wait a few months to smoke, I don't want him. "@BruceFeldmanCFB: RT @MikeGarafolo: On @FOXSports1 ticker @JayGlazer reporting #FSU DT Timmy Jernigan is among those who failed drug test at NFL combine."

    Day 2 Safety

Overview: Few players have done more to move up draft boards than Terrence Brooks. FSU's senior safety was a three-star recruit coming out of high school, and doesn't have imposing physical characteristics. But that hasn't stopped Brooks from soaring up draft boards, mostly because of his impressive speed numbers. Brooks ran a blistering 4.42 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, and since then has gone from a late-round pick to a potential second-round choice as a safety. Brooks took and held his starting job at FSU against some highly touted players for two years, and became one of the most reliable parts of the Seminole defense in the process. Strengths: Brooks wasn't known as the fastest guy on FSU's defense in 2013, but he opened eyes with his speed in postseason workouts. A 4.42 in the NFL combine showed just how explosive he can be. Brooks was a solid all-around player for FSU, showing equal propensity for run support and coverage. He didn't have very many interceptions or big tackle numbers, but he was almost always where FSU needed him to be on the field. Weaknesses: Brooks doesn't have great size for an NFL safety. He also didn't have the best interception numbers in 2013, and his tackling ability has been questioned at times. Brooks will face questions as to whether he has the size and durability to play safety in the NFL. Where does he fit in the NFL? Brooks was one of the smartest players on FSU's roster from a football X's and O's standpoint. That could pay dividends for early playing time in the NFL if he can adjust to more advanced defensive principles at the next level. He can also play at nickel or dime back in the NFL, so anyone needing a versatile defensive back from the second round on will probably take a look at Brooks as a great option.
  7. I'll be in San Fran for the game. New stadium and all
  8. Freeman doesn't have speed to be PR/KR. He would be serviceable backup to Forte. Runs hard between the tackles, but has enough speed to breakaway or run outside. He's not the shifty with quickness type back. Has great hands out of the backfield
  9. Hasnt the front office learned their lesson from drafting gators.
  10. Who's getting cut to sign another free agent of the wish list?
  11. Finally someone posting realistically. Baffled folks wanted front office to broke after the first day. There will be more cuts after the draft, so there will be a couple more pick ups before camp starts. Along with the draft picks
  12. I don't see Barr dropping down that far
  13. The guy played with the flu the entire game. If you watched him the whole game, he was unstoppable and couldnt tell he was sick. His body just couldnt take it anymore. The guy played lights out the entire season. Yeah MJ played with the Flu in the finals, but he didn't have 300 lb guys laying into him the entire game. Shoot, I'm sure you take a couple days off from work when you have the flu, imagine being a Dt. How do you know it wasnt Jimbo who pulled him out when he was puking? As a coach do you want a healthy guy in there or a guy puking ?
  14. Below are comments from NFL scouts after the National Championship against Auburn. In another thread, I posted my thoughts watching him play. I've also, added Joyner's. BTW, I've I stand before TJ was gassed from having the flu? As you can tell I'm a huge Jernigan fan Timmy Jernigan, DT: Jernigan was a dominating force in this game. Against the run, he used his quick hands to stack blockers and his lower strength to hold the point of attack. He violently shed blockers throughout the game and was disruptive for 3 1/2 quarters before gassing out late in the fourth quarter. Against the pass, his quickness was a problem for the interior of Auburn's offensive line. He has all of the tools to be a dominant three-down defender at the next level. Lamarcus Joyner, CB: Joyner quietly had a very solid game. He lines up over the slot, and he's a very effective blitzer. He showed the ability to adjust on the fly and peel off his blitz to tackle the ball carrier. He had plenty of speed to carry vertical routes in the passing game, and his energy was contagious in the second half. Just about every NFL evaluator describes him with this phrase: "That dude is a FOOTBALL PLAYER!" It's accurate.
  15. Jernigan was a back up his first 2 years in college, but played a lot. Yes, Jernigan had much better talent around him, but he was by far the 2nd most valuable player behind Joyner on the defense. If you watch him play, he plugged the middle up and no team could do anything up the middle. National Championship against Auburn, he had the flu, but still played lights out as he had Auburn avoiding the middle and thought was their bread and butter all year. When they did, he stuffed them. I was at the game and he was just owning the O-line. What was funny, when i got home i watched the game. The announcers kept saying, FSU best pass rusher us out the game and looks winded. Little did they know, he's the Dt, not a pass rusher. That there shows just was disruptive and force he was a Dt, hat announcers thinking he was pass rush specialists. He was winded because he had the flu and was taking multiple blocks the entire game as Auburn runs 80% of the time. Remember don't look at the individual stats, but the team, as his job is to clog the middle. FSU was one of the top defenses's for a reason. Plus FSU's starters hardly ever played the second half as they blew teams out and rested the starters in the 2nd half. So the numbers aren't going to show, but his production will in the games was unmatched. He was the strongest guy on the team and that's says a lot coming from FSU. Not taking anything away from Donald as he was an amazing player, but Jernigan is just a beast
  16. Oh boy. Looking at my draft, I deserved to be in last place. I don't want anyone from my squad I drafted
  17. He might be a good position coach, but as a head coach, he wasn't very successful....granted the chances of being successful at Syracuse and UConn is pretty limited.
  18. Bears went after Sal Sunseri, who coaches the FsU ends. He opted to stay at FSU
  19. I want all Noles drafted...Lamarcus Joyner as nickel/return man. Tim Jernigan as a Dt. Christian Jones as OLB. Bryan Stork as a center and Kenny Shaw as the slot guy. Throw in Terrence Brooks as safety.
