I am not trying to find excuses. I get the frustration of losing, it absolutely sucks, especially with the game in hand, but when it should've been Fields chance to put the game away, they handed the ball off twice and Scott misjudged a perfect deep ball.

What do you think of CJ Stroud's performance today? He threw for 336 yards, 2 TD, and 3 INT, in a 21-16 win. The Texans 2nd half offense drives were FG Miss, 3 and out Punt, Interception, Interception. They literally gave the Cardinals every chance to win the game, yet Stroud "won the game", but didn't close it out for an entire half, and handed the game to the Cards with back to back INTs. Yet the narrative will be the rookie balled out, threw for over 300 yards (again) and won the game.

Fields gets strip sacked with 29 seconds left, and he lost the game. Yet Fields got the Bears a 26-14 lead with 4 minutes left and scored on 5 consecutive drives.

I hear ya. And agree that there are so many other factors that go into it. I just do not see fields with the moxy to put the team on his back and finish a game. I like him, but I don't see the IT factor with him. Maybe it is all coaching, but he has had three years, bleak years for us as fans, to do something that would make me confident when he needs to finish a game. I don't, and the big issue is we are approaching a draft situation with, probably, the best positioning ever to improve our team. Right now I'm for trading him, but the season's not over yet. Plenty can happen.

So if DET scores with 0:00 on the clock and Fields never gets the ball back. Did he do enough to win the game?

The offense scored 26 pts, and held the ball for 40 minutes. The defense allowed 29 pts in 19:36 of possession time. The offense had 25 first downs and had 71 plays. If the offense didn't hold the ball so long, the defense would've allowed 40+ in a normal game. If not for the 3 INTs, this would've been a blowout loss. They allowed 4 TD drives.

The craziest stat of all, the Bears allowed 3 TD drives of 70 yards or longer (73, 75, 75), and the time of possession for the Lions was 1:36, 1:16, and 2:04. So the INTs don't matter if you are allowing a team to score that quickly on other drives. The first one ended the 1st half and the other two were the last two of the game. Those are all game killing drives.

For Fields, after the defense allowed that last second TD drive before half, he started the 2nd half down 14-10 and rallied the team to a 26-14 lead with 4 minutes left. In those 4 minutes, he handed the ball off twice to Herbert into a 10-man box, then Scott misjudged a game sealing deep pass.

3rd year in and we're still finding excuses for why Fields is better than he looks. Hell, I'm tired of loss after loss, not being able to mount any kind of comeback in a game, blaiming it all on everybody but the most impt. guy on the field. Justin has had enough opportunities. I'm done with him.

And as far as who I would want if we draft, its not C.Williams, he's another Fields and that aint' gonna work.

Exactly. I’m comfortable with saying Justin has shown he belongs.  If you count that Denver game, Justin has done really well.  I discount the Minny game due to him probably having a concussion before getting injured.  M

Hes thrown 786 yards for 9TDs and one INT with a 121.1 average in those three games.

When he brings home a victory when they are trailing on the last drive then, and only then, will I worship at the altar of Justin. He's just another athletic QB who is inconsistent and has trouble seeing the field. When we got behind at the end of the game I had 0 faith he would lead a winning drive. Tired of the excuses about "he was good, but we still lost." Winners don't do that and he's now on year three. If he was going to be a franchise QB he'd have shown it by now. imDo, we gotta move on from him along with the crappy group of coaches.

This staff coaches scared. They try not to lose, they aren't trying to WIN. On occasion youll see some foolhardy show of aggressiveness, usually where it doesnt belong, like 4th and 1 in range for the go ahead field goal against the pack and instead you TE sneak. "Look how aggressive we are!" - but thats just taking a dumb chance at the wrong time. It isnt trusting your key players to do their normal jobs well.

Everything about this staff screams trying to win the game from the sidelines like a video game. Put the ball in the players' hands. Find out who is good. Ride them. It isn't rocket science.

Agree on all counts. We'll never be the Monsters of the Midway with this staff.

I like Matt Eberflus as a man. He looks like he'd be a great neighbor, teacher and role model. But he is never going to win a Super Bowl for the Chicago Bears, and that alone is enough reason to fire him. Not in anger, but just because you think someone else has a better chance to be the winner we are looking for.

I agree. Flus is a very good DC, but over his head as HC. Listening to him every week on Waddle and Silvy makes it clear he is struggling at the HC level. He has to go and we need an offense minded HC who can get competent coordinators if we are going to bring the Lomabardi trophy to Chicago.

I don't think Bagent had lost confidence.  He was probably told that he didn't have to push anything to win this game.

After so many TOs the week before, they really played it cautious with Bagent. I too doubt that he lost confidence, he's still a rookie and this is the big time and he lacks experience, but he is getting it now and I like how he has responded.

Looking ahead to the draft, some potential trade partners include:

ARZ - multiple 1st rounders, need QB
    WAS - multiple 2nd rounders
    PHI - multiple 2nd rounders
    NYG - need QB
    DEN - need QB
    LVR - need QB
    ATL - need QB
    LAR - need QB

Don't be surprised if the NYG end up with the top pick and it's conceivable that NE Pats move up. We're playing to win games-coahces want to save their job and Fields wants to prove he's got it, and we probably will win some more. With Murray coming back, the Cards are going to be playing to win. Carolina is probably our best option for top pick now. NYG are a mess and, right now, the best bet to be tanking the rest of the season. I'm beginning to doubt that we'll have 2 of the top five picks now.

I also didn't see Bagent use the middle of the field a ton - maybe by design.  Not a horrible performance by Bagent - especially not when you consider 2nd NFL start. I go back to - he's clearly an NFL back-up (as a floor).

Toward the end of game the announcers said LA was clogging middle and forcing those perimeter throws. And agree, 2nd NFL start and he did not crap the bed like some past excuses we've had for many years.

Yeah, Bagent may not be a superstar in the making, but the ball is coming out on time and it makes ALL the difference. It looks like a regular football team.

When Fields is in there it never looks like regular football. Its always a crisis. Sometimes Fields does amazing things to win in those crisis moments. But it never looks calm and regular with 7 yard passes in rhythm.

Bagent's performance is telling us something about how Fields isn't the guy.

Whatever other skills our new QB has, I want him to have that kind of calm quick release.

With many QBs there is a hero complex that takes over and they believe their talent alone will win in every situation. They are trying to win the game every play. Great on paper, but in real life they can not score on every play. ImDo that's Fields' problem and I see it in Williams. they hold the ball way too long and think they are back in high school or college where there was such a talen discrepancy they often did sucede. The NFL is not like that and they hit a wall.

Hire Lincoln Riley and draft Caleb Williams.  Make it a combo transition

I personally would hate that. I've seen my Utes devour Williams and Riley. Neither of those two together have shown me they can win at a superior level. Would just be two more years of back-tracking imDo.

I agree, but I don't see much hope that Getsy is a keeper either. We need a new QB and a new coaching staff.

The question to me is whether Poles stays. I think he does, but if you have a shot at someone like Jim Harbaugh and hes gonna want more input on players, if Poles cant handle that, he can go too.

We need SOMEONE who is a WINNER with VISION.

I don't think Poles is going anywhere for a few years at least. And I too do not believe the coaching staff should be kept. We need an offense-minded winner with a vision that will fit Poles'/Bears jackpot in the 2024 draft.

Disagree.  Justin blew that game.  He's not seeing hot reads on blitzes.  Someone mentioned the lack of slants.  He can't throw them.  It's a fatal flaw in the NFL.  Washington did not blitz him, which shows how dumb or arrogant Rivera is.

Its becoming obvious that Justin is not seeing the field nor reacting to the D as a good NFL QB must. His record as a QB sucks. All his fault? No, but his lack of quick reaction/read skills is preventing him from improving as a QB. Getsy hasn't done him any favors, either, and what he does with Bagent is going to give us a good idea of his staying or going as OC.

If we end up with the first pick because of the trade to Carolina again, we have to give Poles huge credit. A potential all pro OT (Wright), DJ Moore, Tyrek Stevenson, and the #1  pick in the 2024 draft. 2025 2nd round pick.

IF Fields turns into our franchise QB and he trades the #1 pick, he will get more than last year. Probably would mean we could still draft Harrison and multi first round picks.

    That's what I want for Xmas. 👃

As much has the OL has been a challenge,  Poles vision of his starting 5 when Jones comes back may be a winner. A good OL helps Fields be his best self. I think another key is we have run for more than 170 yards in 2 games. That could be a sustained combination that could produce some more wins.

I absolutely want Fields to succeed but what would he be worth in a trade if he has a top 5 season and Poles gets the chance to draft Caleb Williams? It gives the cap space a break for 4 more years.

Scenario 2 , we Draft Marvin Harrison. What would Harrison and DJ look like together with Mooney ,Kmet and  Tyler Scott to throw to? Our pick grabs us a  Brock Bower and  we now have the best offense in the league?

Running game could take a big hit due to injuries, though we have 10 days before the next game. Herbert's injury looked nasty, but he came back. Johnsons concussion could be over by the next game, I hope.

Conundrum: If Fields does continue to progress, do we win more games, taking us out of the early draft spots? Still, we always have the Panthers to get us that golden ticket. I'd have to see Fields bring us back in several games to buy into him as our ultimate QB. I hope he does, but not convinced yet. He's gonna have several opportunities to prove it the rest of the season. Oh, and what happened to Getsy? Did we have any quick LOS throws that end up losing yards? Play calling was a great improvement.
