  1. A lot to give up, but then again they might be desperate for O-Line help. Injuries showed how thin their line was in the SB.
  2. Heard about it this morning on NFL's XM station. They did say that the hope is he grows out of it as he has family members who also dealt with it and have grown out of it. I'm not familiar with Epilepsy personally either myself or family, but it's no doubt a serious thing. Props to Fields for being open about it prior to the draft. I know it's was not an easy thing to reveal especially as you said it's never publicly been revealed so he's managed it and stayed on top of it. It takes discipline for sure but the kid has performed at a high level with this medical issue. His being open about it will help NFL teams decide and prepare whoever drafts him but will also stand as an encouragement to young athletes around the country that something like this shouldn't stand in the way of their dreams of being a pro athlete.
  3. This place s what I’d like to see happen. But I fear Pace will be willing to give up a King’s ransom to move up. Teams future be dammed. He is in “save my job” mode and I fear he will be far too short sighted.

    Goodwin

What makes teams respect the speed and the deep ball is you have to connect when it’s there. We’ve had speed but no one feared the likes of Glennon, Mitch, or Foles actually placing the ball anywhere near a receiver and even when they did your receiver would drop it. To make the deep game work means having an o-line that can hold their blocks long enough for the routes to develop.
  5. In general it's a 50/50 shot but given Pace's poor ability to evaluate QBs, I'd say the odds of him missing are greater than him actually hitting. Sadly I think they will try to make a swing at it. If he does here's to the blind squirrel finding a nut.
  6. Was this the Jets GM or Carolina's? Whoever said it brings up the good point to ask the question what chance did Darnold, have to succeed in the black hole that is the Jets? Really what chance does a new #2 draft pick have. Hard to evaluate a QB in the mess they have there. I can see this as the Jets doing Darnold a solid in freeing him from NY, on some level I get wanting to start fresh with the new staff and a new #2 pick QB. But your putting a lot of pressure on that rookie when your only other QBs are no-names.
  7. I’m with you, build the rest of the roster particularly the lines. Let the throw away season play out as the dumpster fire it likely will be. Clean house and let someone not name Ryan Pace pick our next QB in the 2022 draft.
  8. Per score they signed Andy Dalton. Welp, that’s a letdown. 1 year $10 Mil with another 3 in potential incentives.
  9. Liked him and sad to see him go as he was a great teammate and was outspoken in trying to convince player to consider signing with the team. On the bright side he won't be coming in to run the ball or catch a 2 yard pass on third and long. He will be greatly missed as a returner he was always dangerous.
  10. Glad that's done, I was worried we'd let him walk and be back to trying to figure out kicker on top of our other problems.
  11. They keep touting that we made the playoffs 2 of the last 3 seasons. But had the NFL not added a 7th playoff spot for each conference this past season, we would have miss the playoffs 2 out of those same three seasons. They act like beating crappy teams after dropping 6 straight this year is a positive, as they acted like we responded well after a similar losing skid last year. When Nagy has the gall to say in the press conference that coaching is a strength of this team. They are not living in reality, sadly, for us fans it means looking towards a wasted season.
  12. This is exactly why they should have cleaned house. You have Pace and Nagy who will be more motivated to mortgage the future for the present in hopes to save their jobs than look at what's best for the Bears long term. Their perspective is extremely short term and focused on this coming season only. I can see Pace swinging for the fences and screwing the team further for years to come in a vein effort to save his and Nagy's jobs. If the Ownerships' intent was to let them stay knowing full well they will likely fire them next year, then their perspective is severely limited too. Ownership needs to do what's best for the team long term. If your intent is to fire Pace/Nagy after 2021. Why keep them knowing the moves they make could do damage to the teams future leaving the next GM and HC to clean up an even bigger mess than we have now.
  13. Sadly this is where we are. We are down to looking at making the best of a bad situation no one we can bring in will make anyone excited. At least without mortgaging the present and future to surround this new found star QB (ie Watson) with garbage, thus nullifying any positives said QB could bring. At this point Foles will be day one starter, along with some other vet, and possibly a rookie. But if we don't address and fix the OL this team will go no where anyway. I do feel like with an average to above average line or better you'd be surprised how much better Foles or any QB would look along with making our run game better. SB was a perfect example of this, the great Mahomes was humbled as he was running for his life all game, and the prolific KC offense failed to find the end zone in 60 min of football. OL is the great equalizer of football as goes the OL so goes the offense. Till we fix that there won't be any consistency.

    What if

There in-lies the problem. While Nagy can be a better than average HC, as he does seem to be able to motivate his players, and his players like playing for him. He seems to lack the self awareness that he just isn't good at offensive play calling. He just isn't. While I'm all for people not giving up and getting back up and keep trying, but at some point you have to be honest with yourself and realize something's not in your wheelhouse. Especially when being stubborn is detrimental to others around you. In Naggy's case his unwillingness to admit this and delegate and resist the urge to control that aspect of the game, is detrimental to the team and his ability to become a better HC.
  15. At this point in his career he's more of a situational player than an every down kind of player. If we can get him without spending too much, and are able to maximize his time in the rotation I'd be for it. I just don't want to see us pay him for his past production when he's clearly not the same player he was in his prime. Doesn't mean he can't be effective if used correctly. I'm not a huge fan of bringing in guys at the tail end of their career which often doesn't live up to expectations.
  16. Except that in our current situation it's not as simple as just choosing to pursue Watson vs Wentz. Watson would require more than we can realistically offer, where as Wentz is more within reach. The two options are miles apart in cost. On draft day 2017 yes it would have been simple to sit at #3 and take Watson, and we possibly aren't having this conversation. At the end of the the mistake of giving up way too much to move up one spot to take Mitch when he'd have likely still been there at 3, and now here in 2021 we're looking at a trade to try and correct that mistake.
  17. It’s been a mess over in Philly. Lots of blame and speculation and pointing fingers. Sometimes it’s best for a player like Wentz and the Eagles to part ways. And have a change of scenery. As NYC pointed out they have the 6th overall pick so they could take a swing at QB and have him and Hurts comete for the starting spot. Of the trade options he could be the least risky if we can get him without giving up future picks. I’d be fine with it. Especially if we are able to also address the line and WR plus ad depth at other positions of need. If it woks out with him here you keep him and if it doesn’t you can cut him. In which case it likely means we have a new GM and HC to make the decision.
  18. Was thinking this too they made no adjustments. It’s like they had one game plan and just kept trying to follow it no matter what Tampa was doing. Some of it I think as they got further behind was Mahomes trying to play the hero. Rather than take what the defense gives you. With the pressure they were getting. They should have called more plays to get tha ball out quicker not ask Mahomes to drop back deep and wait for something to open up. They should have done more with screens to make Tampa pay for their aggressive rush. KC has had many big comebacks and I feel like that is in part like comebacks we had during the early part of our season. The defenses go into more of a prevent. And suddenly their offense looks on fire and they play off momentum. Where I give props to Tampa is they didn’t let off the gas on defense and allow the Chiefs back into the game. I hate watching teams build a lead then go into prevent hoping to ride their lead to a win. For once I saw a defense keep fighting to the end.
  19. My first gut reaction to the thought of trading for Wentz made me sick to my stomach but as I've read through this thread, some of my feelings about a move like this are tainted by recency bias. 2020 was a bad year for Wentz and the Eagles, just like we often say one good game doesn't make a season or one good year doesn't make a career, one bad season should be taken with the same grain of salt. The more I read here and the more I think about it the more sense it makes. If we are getting him on basically a 1 year deal and can cut him without any hit if things don't work out and we clean house after 2021. Then you aren't saddling a new GM/Coach with a QB they don't want. Any trade that involves us giving up Foles, and Miller, and this years #20, for Wentz and not having to give up future draft picks is as close to a win as you can get. Maybe we can throw in Wims to help negotiate a higher return pick. I've gone from no way do I want to trade for Wentz to thinking this could work. Especially if it allows us to keep ARob at least in 2021. I know he would not be happy about being tagged, but, perhaps if it's done with the intent to work out a longer term deal that works for him and the team. Then you go into 2022, possibly with a new coach, new gm, stud WR, all of the 2022 draft capitol, and if we are able to address the line, then you have a shot at going for a franchise QB.
  20. And that is why it won't matter who's behind center if we never fix the OL. No consistent run game, no time to throw, etc. Mahomes was running for his life most of the night, they could never get the run game going. They became one dimensional and Tampa could just tee off. Could have had more picks as several times while running for his life he just wings it somewhere hoping something good happens. It proves it's not a one man show. Mahomes is talented but I've never felt he was as good as all the hype, he's been in a system that meshes well with his skills. Losing two of their OL in the playoff run definitely hurt, and Tampa's front 7 is legit. It was a recipe for disaster. He wouldn't fare any better here had we drafted him. And at this point we'd probably be talking about him as a bust just like Mitch. Football starts in the trenches, fix the OL then look for your franchise QB. Otherwise it's like putting a new set of tires on a car that don't run.
  21. KC killing themselves with dumb penalties.
  22. I can honestly say I’m neutral in this on. If it were GB I’d be rooting for a KC blowout. Should be a good game.
  23. Reminds me Tarik with better field vision.
