  1. Kmet drops a first down, drive stalls... This game could be over well before halftime.
  2. Maybe someone gave him a fake small one and a broken headset so he could make believe he is calling plays. Like a Fisher Price "my first play calling set"
  3. ...and twice on Sundays. We really do Justin a disservice by trying to make him into a pocket passer like we tried with Mitch. It's just not their style and doesn't fit their unique skills. A Mobile QB needs the pocket to move, needs to vary the launch point. Right now we make it easy for defenses because we keep the same launch point and D-Lines can just tee off. What we are doing does't take advantage of his speed and the threat of run. The game sure looked like Nagy was calling the plays, or at least is having way too much input ("everything goes through him"). They need to simplify things, and create an offensive scheme that caters to what Fields does best. To do that you have to be willing to re-think your philosophy at least in the short term, and then slowly add things in. Baltimore should be the blueprint we try to follow or at least pattern off of. Let your athlete be an athlete rather than make them something they are not.
  4. It has a lot to do with culture and an organization that's either committed to winning football or doing just enough to keep fans in the stands and money rolling in. In the last 20-30 years the Bears organization has proven time and time again they are ok with mediocre with an occasional bright spot season or two sprinkled in (blind squirrel). Over that span we've had players who have displayed that hunger to win, but the overall team has not often shown that kind of hunger. The Bears have been in a holding pattern for so long now it's become habit. With the talent on this roster, this should have been at least a competitive game and it felt like that for all of a quarter or so, but as per usual the wheels fall off and we lose. There were blow and missed calls that certainly didn't help, but our own play didn't help us either. Good teams can overcome bad calls, or bad breaks. The Bears are just not a good "team." We have plenty of talent, yet we never play up to our potential as a group. Fields shows some promise but is making plenty of rookie mistakes. Too often he tries to make something happen when there's nothing there and needs to learn sometimes it's ok to throw the ball away. Live to fight another down or series. It's just a matter of recognizing when a play is dead, you don't have to be the hero every snap. The late sack he took that put us out of FG range effectively eliminating any chance of us potentially tying the game with a FG there and possible a defensive stop to give the offense a chance to score on the next possession. I get that Justin feels pressure to be everything us fans have been hoping for at the QB position for a long time. That can be a huge weight if you let it. Just focus on playing your game, focus on the game one play at a time. I do believe that Fields is a resilient kid and the best is yet to come. But in the short term he looks like he's trying to do too much on every play rather than just take what's there. A three and out is better than forcing something that's not there. On the Interception, and this should come in time, if you don't see a flag even if it's obvious it should have been a free play, don't just assume (especially when you play the packers) that a flag will be thrown for the offsides. Flag or not where he placed the ball there were no Bears receivers in the area. On a free play you have the freedom to take a chance but it should be reasonable chance not just throw it deep and hope one of your guys is there to catch it. I don't remember if he was hit on the throw and that altered the ball, but point being outside of a Hail Mary play, you need to throw it in the vicinity of your receiver. He got away with one later that was like a carbon copy of that play, only got away with it because the Packers DB was out of bounds before he could establish possession. Again no one near the DB, not sure who he was throwing to or if the ball just sailed on him. Mistakes will happen and I feel like Fields will grow from this and he has the desire and work ethic to improve. A big part of the adjustment college QB's need to make in the NFL is college defenses are generally weaker than pro defenses. Your decisions have to be more precise, decisive, and the windows are tighter, and the coverages are more complex. The D played well early on but as the game wore on they gave more and more. I like what Dessi has done and our pass rush has looked tons better this season and is more reminiscent of Fangio's D. But the back end is and will continue to be a liability. I can't think that we couldn't bring in someone who can actually tackle in place of Jackson. I don't see how there can't be someone out there that can play at least average to take his spot. 2019 is looking more and more like a mirage that he's lived off of since then. If Adams doesn't step out of bound he would have given up a TD after just a shoulder bump. Be a man and tackle him, do your job!!!. Just like one side of the ball failing to hold up its end and pull its weight I feel like the back end of our D keeps letting down the front 7, and that has to get old. They are working their butts off only to see the secondary fail to make a play. Complimentary football is so important to consistent success. Late in the game when the offense pulls us to within 3, and instead of coming up with a key stop to give the offense the chance to take the lead, the D just let's GB march down the field and score. Even worse we allowed Rodgers to make our D look silly on a TD run that should not have happened. After he scores the TD he goes to the stands and taunts us by saying "I own you." I hate Rodgers and Green Bay with a passion, but it burns just as much because he's right. And Bears management is ok with this. We've beaten GB what 4 times in the last 7years? They have owned us and to Rodgers has made a career of making us look bad. Bears vs Packers isn't so much a rivalry as it is a tradition that GB will twice a year embarrass us. I for one will admit I'm jealous of their success, and the luck they've had over the years going from HOF QB to HOF QB while we repeatedly get the QB position wrong. It's simply salt in the wound watching them regularly get favorable treatment by the officials, not just against us but in general. In general they have been the better run organization, and again we look like we're playing checkers while they are playing chess.
  5. with you 100%, they need to blow this staff up and Pace like they should have last offseason. They are either going to ruin Fields or get him killed.
  6. Word's can't describe how much I hate the packers and Rodger's. I hope the moment he leaves they suck in the basement of the NFL for decades.
  7. what is the point of calling these time outs after they get first downs inside 2 min??? why prolong this?
  8. As fast and elusive as Fields is supposed to be he sure seems to get run down in the backfield a lot. Just took another sack that takes us out of FG range. 4th and forever.
  9. pull to within 3 and then let them walk right down and score... Friggin Rodgers makes our D look silly on a TD. So tired of getting pushed around by the cheese heads. Doesn't help that the Packers as usual get every break and then some from the refs
  10. On paper this is a winnable game, and there's reason to be optimistic to that end, but GB has owned us regardless of the records and how our seasons have gone to that point. Of course I would love nothing better than to beat the cheese heads, but if we don't I would prefer it be a dogfight that they barely escape from rather then them just walking all over us. These games are so hard to predict. Rodgers does throw to Adams a lot and I can see 1 or 2 stupid easy TD's where Adams is wide open by 10-15 yards (could also insert Cobb for added salt in the wound). I hope I'm wrong though.
  11. It's also possible he's lost a step, but his biggest assist has always been his ability to win jump balls and his catch radius as a big bodied WR. I don't think he's ever been considered a burner. He also may not be doing the little things with his footwork and moves to create space/separation. A WR with more dangerous speed can do that easier as DB's have to respect the straight line speed.
  12. To be honest we've all said and done things in our past that we regret or wouldn't want aired in public. It's kind of ridiculous that something from someone's past (sometimes decades old stuff) is brought up to ruin their life now when they aren't the same person. People change, can't speak for Gruden specifically, but by all accounts he's remorseful about those things. I'm not a Gruden fan by any stretch. Never cared for him as a play by play guy, and he basically won a SB with Dungy's team and got the credit for it and he's kinda lived off that success since then. He's overrated as a coach. But I give him props for choosing to step down rather have the organization and his players dragged through the muck on his account. Like AZ said who out'd him and why now rather than 10 years ago. Someone had an axe to grind (who by the way probably has skeleton's in their closet as well). I feel people need to be allowed the opportunity to show they've change or grown up, or whatever. I feel like we need to be more forgiving of each other in society as a whole rather than cancel someone because they once did or said something that makes people butthurt. Just my two cents.

    Bad Spot

Agree, I thought it was a bad spot as well, but it’s one of those calls where whatever was called on the field would likely stand. If they spotted it short and LV challenged it they most likely lose that challenge. in general I felt the game was mostly called fair. It was nice to finally see some flags thrown for late hits on Fields. Though the helmet to the ribs I thought should have been called targeting as the defender lead with the helmet.
  14. Yeah 3 TE's, committing more blockers to help protect Fields. After that first TD drive where the helped out with dumb penalties it felt like the offense picked it up and looked better since then. It always makes me cringe when they show Nagy with a play sheet over his face. He just can't help himself but keep his hand in the cookie jar. On a side note it sure seems like the Raiders play dirty.
  15. unfortunately on the Raiders second possession we're letting them walk right down the field on us.
  16. For certain it was someone above him in the organization. Be it Pace, George, or perhaps Virginia got mad again. Bottom line is if it’s Fields and Lazor for the rest of the season there’s hope that we won’t ruin the kid. I just hope Nagy’s ego doesn’t cause him to take the reigns back if things start looking better. His arrogance is a hindrance to the team. Till he gets over himself it will continue to hold him and this team back.
  17. And earlier in the game didn't we have our returner hit before he could make the catch and no call?
  18. That is so Nagy to hand out the compliment but then refuse to answer any more questions about who's calling plays. His ego is taking a hit. He's been roasted in the past for his poor play calling, the flames went higher after last week's debacle. I'm sure he was pressured to hand over play calling since his ego makes him think he's smarter than everyone else. The proof is in the pudding as it was night and day different with Lazor calling the plays. There was continuity, and a real sense of some kind of game plan. I like that Fields addressed the play calling this week vs last week but did it in a diplomatic honest way. When Nagy's calling plays it really looks like he's just making it up as he goes like a student guessing at multiple choice questions on a test they didn't study for. He has a handful of plays he likes and that seems to be the pool he picks from. This is always a potential issue when a HC decides to handle either offensive or defensive play calls, their focus needs to be on the overall team, and often one or the other or even both suffer. Here's hoping two things happen going forward Fields continues to start, and Lazor calls plays. There will be bumps and he'll make mistakes from time to time but as long as Lazor is making the calls I feel like that creates a better situation for Fields to grow. Nagy calling the plays is the best way to stunt his growth. I still want Nagy and Pace gone after the season, but I wouldn't be opposed to the next coach retaining Lazor if the chemistry between him and Fields is solid. As far as GM, our biggest needs going into next offseason is OL and secondary. We have got to shore up the talent on the back end of the defense, the front end is doing its part. And we need to stop mortgaging future draft capitol on the present out of desperation. For once it would be nice to walk into draft day with our full compliment of picks or even being on the plus side. We keep borrowing from the future so the limited amount of picks we have each draft drastically lowers the margin of error and makes the misses that much more catastrophic. We've had both extremes in GM's who always traded down, and Pace who always wants to trade up, the best place to be is somewhere in the middle. That said outside of the Jenkins pick (which many including myself liked at the time), was probably Pace's best draft to date. Getting Fields at 11 was a steal (thank you SF & NYG). It did involve luck but he made the right move and got the deal done.
  19. Question is, are the best players for the positions even on the roster. Our secondary is Easily the weakest part of our defensive roster.
  20. You were only off by a point! It was clear Nagy wasn’t calling plays
  21. then the D gives up an easy TD to start the 4th, down 14. Our offense to this point has only 59 yards of offense. That was probably the back breaker there. Unless something crazy happens it's probably game over.
  22. not a lot, doesn't seem to be anyone creating much separation. The sacks have been a combination of poor OL play and no one to throw to.
