I think this is a good assessment of the big picture. It wasn’t all going to be fixed in one offseason but Poles addressed as many areas as could and he’s not done. But the changes made should at the very least raise the floor and the ceiling on the Bears in 2023. To me it’s a sum of all parts being better kinda thing. One narrative this offseason that has annoyed the crap out of me. That Ashkum eluded to about the national perspective vs us fan’s perspective. It bugs me when I hear the line “they were the worst team in football last year”. It’s lazy low hanging fruit. Yes, we had the worst record but if you actually watch the games you see a team that was better than it’s record. Certainly the most competitive 3-14 team I’ve seen in some time. We know that, but the reality is the national perspective won’t change till that competitive effort translates into results.

One thing that I think skews Field’s stats is that the first part of last season we hardly threw the ball. I can’t knock him for what was beyond his control. Hard to rack up passing stats when the play calling was so run heavy early in the season. Add in the line play and limited weapons he had around him. That said he certainly has room to grow. This offseason has been about investing in surrounding him with more weapons and improving the protection up front. This season he is setup to take the next step. I believe he can and will.

I’d I hear right that he was a QB, but voluntarily changed positions to RB when his team lost all three of their RBs? Like this pick great value for a guy who got overshadowed by Robinson. Great character guy and a bruising hard working back. would like Wipler next.

His footwork, mobility, and agility stand out to me. Like you said he says balanced and plays under control. It’s when linemen don’t have good balance and footwork that they panic and have to hold. It’s the difference in playing in a reactionary way rather than taking the fight to your opponent.

Been some head scratching moves so far. So refreshing that we’re not one of those teams. It’s kinda funny that the Jets didn’t take a WR in the first round after Rodgers whined about the Packers didn’t do it. Would have laughed my butt off if the jets had taken Will Levis

Detroit taking Gibbs surprised me a bit. I was glad the packers didn’t take JSN.

I agree, so this what it’s like to have a GM that actually does the smart thing.

What did we get in the trade?

Packers get the Jets #13, a 2nd (#41), a 6th rounder (# 207), and a conditional 2024 3rd round pick that becomes a 1st if he plays 65% of the snaps (very likely). Jets get Rodgers, pick #15, a 5th rounder (#170), and Rodgers massive contract. So the Packers move up two spots in the 1st round, a high 2nd, a sixth, this year and a ‘24 1st (though this could likely be a late 1st). They take a cap hit this year but are then free from Rodgers big contract. The Jets move down two spots, give up some good draft capitol this year and next year for at best a 2 year rental. Then they’ll be a QB needy team again. They are going to have to go all in during this 2 year window. Short term this trade helps the Jets, but long term it helps the Packers. All this talk about how the jets are serious contenders now kind of make a me chuckle a little as the are swinging for the fences on a QB who’s choked in the playoffs more than he’s come through.

I forget who I heard talking about Carter and the Bears, but they had an interesting take on it. Their thinking was a disciplined approach to coaching may be just what Carter needs rather than a soft players coach style approach or babying him. I do think there’s some truth to that. He might just need that push to light a fire under him. we’ll soon find out what Poles evaluation is if he does fall to 9.

Just like Bjon Robinson I’m all for the talent and in most cases I’d be down for taking either at 9 or preferably dropping down a few spots and picking up an extra 2nd. However, as much as I like these guys, I feel like they would be luxury picks that we don’t have the luxury on our roster to pass on players at higher need positions. I would like to see us possibly trade down a few spots and pick up an extra 2nd. Unless there’s someone at 9 we can’t pass up on. I’m starting to warm to the idea of taking Carter if he’s there as long as Poles and Flous feel they can coach him up as a player and as a man. I’ll trust their evaluation. If by chance he’s there at 9 I’m sure there will be offers. Would I hat Robinson or JSN at 9 no but just don’t see Poles going there.

I have no issue with this at all. The fact that they're all hanging out at bulls games and such tells me they have good chemistry and mutual respect. Moore's presence will help both Mooney and Claypool from a coverage standpoint. He will draw more coverage away from those guys. To me the Jury's still out on Claypool, he has the talent, but does he have the ethic and motivation to tap his full potential? Mooney speed receiver and is more of a role player.

I think it can be a tough position to be in if at #9 he's still on the board, or it can be an opportunity. If we're not fully comfortable with taking the risk of spending a top ten pick on a guy with so many question marks, I'd bet that there's another team that might be interested in trading up. I wouldn't want to drop too much further but, if we're sitting there at #9 he's on the board and you there are other players on your big board that you have grade around the 9th pick are also still there. And say the Eagles, Titans, or even Texans call. I'd definitely be open to taking offers. More and more I'm leaning hard towards the position that he's not worth the risk and what's at stake for the Bears should we take the chance and he turns out to be a waste.

Liked his sit down with Jeff Joniak. Comes across as a down to earth chill dude who’s a hard worker. I love his toughness and desire to do all the little things. Whatever it takes attitude. Definitely the type of vet you want around the locker room and WR group.

For sure. He could possibly be there at 9 given the situation, and his talent on the field would make him a steal at 9 as long as the off the field stuff doesn't become a lingering issue. Have to do the due diligence and get a feel for Carter the person to gauge if he's worth taking.

And for the Jets that's just the draft capitol they'll have give up to get Rodgers, that's not including the cap space he'll eat up, plus his wish list of players to go and get. And then Rodgers wants to play the victim by claiming he's not the one holding up the trade, throwing the Packers organization under the bus, (biting the hand that feeds him). Just goes back to everything is everyone else's fault, he takes no blame or responsibility for anything except when it's something good. His other comments about how he's the greatest player in Packer's history, and on and on. I for sure would put Bart Star ahead of him on the all time great Packers list. He for sure is the LeBron James of the NFL. If he's not careful he'll dislocate his surgically repaired shoulder patting himself on the back. Great players don't have to call themselves great they just play the game and let others say what they will. No wonder his family and him don't associate with each other. He alienates everyone around him that doesn't bow down to him, scratch his back, or bend over backwards for him. He's screwing two franchises on his bridge burning tour lol

He’s making demands that the Jets sign players off his wish list (players he had in Green Bay). So with the Packers he whined that they didn’t surround him with weapons but in NY he wants them to surround him with the same players the Packers put around him. ?‍♂️

Wouldn’t mind Mattison at all. Dude deserves a starting gig but will never be a feature back sitting behind Cook. Whenever Cook has missed time there’s little to no drop of in their run game production. I will miss Monty. He played with heart and determination. Wish him well except against us.

Sounds like there’s conflicting information and nothing official. But given what Packers President said that bringing him back is not a top priority and the jets coaches flying out to California to meet with him and then clearing cap space feels like it’s inevitable. Maybe after a couple years or so he’ll take over for Kirk Cousins in Minny where a Bears DT will put an end to his career. It’d be like deja vu all over again.

This would be a golden opportunity for Feilds to show his leadership by organizing this.

Red somewhere the titans are shopping Henry. He’d look nice in orange and navy. Doubt it would happen but it’s a nice thought.
