  1. Rogers did play well against Dallas, but in his limited action, it's the only time he's looked decent. He's always looked terrible in training camp and in preseason. He also has been hurt way too much for someone with his limited exposure. He may end up being a very good QB, but I don't think we can project that based on one good game.
  2. I live in Madison and I've been saying for years that the day Favre announces his retirement, party at my place. Looks like I better reserve the keg!
  3. From NFL.com: Titans guard Jacob Bell is visiting the St. Louis Rams today.
  4. From the always reliable profootballtalk.com POSTED 3:52 p.m. EST, March 3, 2008 WOODY GETS WOODY And so it continues for the New York Jets. The team owned by Woody Johnson has signed Lions free-agent tackle Damien Woody to a five-year, $25.5 million contract, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network. Per Schefter, Woody will receive $11 million in guaranteed money.
  5. Yeah, I can't believe anyone traded for him. Like you said, everyone had to know we were going to cut him. According to the Sun Times his contract is: His contract calls for a base salary of $1.4 million in 2008, $1.8 million in 2009 and $2.2 million in 2010 I guess getting a veteran backup for $1.4 next year isn't a bad deal. If you waited for him to get cut, you'd probably have to give him more than that with a signing bonus.

    Mock Drafts

I don't trust any mock draft that comes out before free agency begins. Team needs change based on who they sign during free agency. Mocks might have a team down for a WR in the 1st rd. If that team signs Randy Moss, do you think they are still likely to take a WR in the 1st rd?
  7. Yeah, Bigby played pretty well during the playoffs and can lay the wood, but he can't cover anyone. He is a penalty waiting to happen.
  8. Rex strikes me as the kind of guy who would want to prove his critics wrong. Prove he can make it in Chicago, prove he can be a quality QB. He knows the Bears brass likes him. He has to feel that he can beat out Orton in an open competition. I also don't think anyone is going to give him starter money on a contract longer than a year or 2. I know there are other teams that need QB help, but I can't think of any team that is going to "go after" him. All that being said, I don't see why you wouldn't test the FA market. Although, Parker is probably getting a pretty good inclination as to who is interested and at what value at the combine this week. Angelo said he wants players that want to be Bears. Maybe he's trying to show that he is one of those players. I know Grossman was killed by Chicago fans and media last season, but he was killed nationally, not just here.
  9. I agree. I hope they have something else in mind. Going to training camp with a guy who is not a true wr yet and another guy who has hardly played would be ridiculous. I'd feel better if they resign Berrian, but I don't think they will pay him what he can command via FA. Unless he is there main target in FA. If they don't resign him the better do something. Faneca, Turner, we need a lot of help. Depth at RB is an issue, the Oline is an issue, WR would obvously be an issue. Who is out there for us to get via free agency? Stallworth? You'd probably have to pay him almost as much as Berrian. I know we have to let this all play out, but I'm not very optimistic. If they sign basically nobody...can you say rebuilding?!
  10. The NFL Network hasn't really had much on yet. I believe their full coverage starts Saturday.
  11. Berrian probably has some idea what he can expect to get for his FA contract. As said below, tampering goes on. The only way I see Berrian accepting the Bears 1st offer, is if it is in the ball park of what he thinks he can get somewhere else and he is fearful of getting franchise or transition tagged.
  12. Well, it took me a few months, but I made it over. Sprout on Bearstalk Sprout here
  13. If we tag anyone, I would think it would be Berrian. Not that I think Berrian is a #1, but he is one of the better (if not the best) FA wr's out there. He will be grossly overpaid wherever he signs as a FA. The franchise tag would allow us to keep him for one more year and then hopefully sort out our debacle at the wr position.
