Definitely a upgrade over last yr. I think in next yrs draft he adds 2 pass rushes with the first 3 picks and keeps building thru the draft.
-
Maybe Vildor but I dont see Patrick going anywhere. He did not pan out his first yr but the tape is still there for why Poles wanted him. Plus backup OC and can play either OG position. Poles stays steady with not handing out contracts that kill us down the road. He is putting draft picks out there and fills in with vet depth. I think we will look back on this year and have added 10 core players.

Its amazing to think Poles gets a blue chip edger rusher this late in the offseason. Either Poles is lucky or he clearly knows what he is doing.

Poles not stopping, signs Marcedes Lewis, new TE3 locked in
Stinger226 replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
He's a TE that can still block. Don't expect him to get slot of targets. As a third TE will be better than who we have. -
Lots of ? on defense but I would say it's definitely upgraded by way of talent. Now they need to go out and show what they are capable of. If they can stop the run, the pressure will on the offense to be able to pass. The middle of the field should be taken away with Gordon coming into his own and Edmunds locking down. They now have to worry about YN , it should make the middle venerable to the big guys and their power.

There is a history of players seeking a long term contract of having an upscale year. Many of them are on this team. Some just don't have the talent but Poles signs players with upside . He will hit more than he misses.

We are in nickel defense 70% of the time. I suspect he gets at least 50% of the snaps. Greg Gabriel talked about him and stated he's not terrible against the run. The perception he is comes the the great PFF website rating. He's not a team leader but he's not a cancer either. It will take awhile for him to become a hits player but he does make opposing OCs worry about him. Adds to the overall strength of the team in the DBs and ability of Wright and Edmunds to play pass defense. From videos, he seems to play the LDE spot most of the time, same as Walker.

Awesome, heard Dave Wannsted mention in an interview that they were close this morning.

I like the idea of talented WRs are making the DBs better and talented DBs are making the WR room better. Worth the watch.

As we praise the additions to the OL this year, the players that were here have been working to get better. Leatherwood, Jones, Carter, Patrick, Borom, Eiselen. This coaching staff gives me the impression they are developing players, something I really havent been noticeable in the past regime. As far as metrics, they have specifically designed the players workouts for each player. I think we will see the due diligence of a good coaching staff.

This guy sure does fire up the base. Smart guy

That's cool , having two former OLs as our GMs makes me think they know what their doing with the OL.

He upgrades the bottom of the roster. Since we have first waiver claim status, we will see this a few times. I say the only way he makes the roster is if someone gets hurt.
-
I have an Athletic account. He should be in Tier 2, 10 spots better. I think Watson is ranked to high. He didnt play well last yr. Something he did 3 yrs ago should not give him cudos for ratings with such a bad yr last yr.
-
Didnt realize that these two OL were so similar.

Now teams not only have to worry about Justin but DJ will have to be planned for. Take into account the best rushing team in the league and more reliable throwing options. Play action will kill this year. In the first quarter we need to have a long run by Justin and one deep ball completion, the defense will be back on their heels all day.

I think ESB has the advantage because of his size. We have Claypool and no other large WRs. Scott and V Jones can do anything Pettis can do. Also I didnt see any RB competition. They still have Ebner and Hosmer besides the Hebert-Forman-Johnson trio. Hosmer was signed to a two yr contract plus he is a major ST player. Ebner can still get to the practice squad so he can be held on to, but I think he gets cut. Our Ss are Brisker-Jackson-Hicks. I think if Williamson isnt ready, they could slide him to the practice squad and use Terrell Smith as the 4th S. He has been taking some snaps there. If Trahan plays his way into a spot, Smith could just stay at CB.

Dont agree a lot with Sam Monson. Without knowing who the OCs are KC-Philly-Buffalo-Dallas and Detroit had the best offenses last yr. Matt Nagy doesnt call the plays for KC, so how many other OCs are just figure heads?

Those numbers seem realistic. If Moore is who we think he is , he alone should get 85 recs on the low side. For Justin to reach 3400 yds, he needs to average 200 yds a game. I clearly see that as being reasonable. I think Justin is capable of what Hurts did last yr. 460 306 3701 66.5 8 22 4.8 6 1.3 I think Justin gets those types of numbers this yr with more TDs . Instead of 22 , 28-30.

Between last year and now , Poles has changed the offense to be capable of high end production. Adding DJ is easily the biggest move and I rate restructuring of the OL second. I think ever spot on the oline has been upgraded. I expect Jones to be better. Jenkins is an upgrade over Whitehair that didn't have a good year. Whitehair is easily a huge step up from Mustifer. Davis is a top 10 RG in the league. Wright, as a rookie, will be better than Reif last year. WR room: Moore, Mooney, Claypool, V Jones, Tyler Scott , Pettis, ESB. How are the targets going to be distributed ? Ideally Moore has close to 100 catches, Mooney and Claypool both reach 60 catches each, Scott and Jones splits 50 catches. Can't see much for Pettis or ESB. TE room: I expect Kmet to get to 60 catches and Tonyan to have 6 TDs. RB room: I think this is one of our strengths and between them all we will do more passing this year or we would have led the NFL will amount to top 5 in the league in rushing. For us to achieve my projections, we would have to be top 5 in the league in offense. Realistically one or two of the WRs will not reach my projections, and Kmet may not reach 60 catches. Taking a positive view, where am I off with my projections? Obviously, Fields is not going to have over 400 completions but I think over 325 is reasonable. Where am I off?

Adam, what team does my friend tale over?

I've seen @Deersview on twitter before but never viewed NewWave stuff before. Is it just me or from last year to this year is there just more Bears content out there? Every season I always try to catch all the Bear content I can find, but is there more now? Or am I just paying attention more?

I think Poles has already made offers to these players but they are not on the same page. Offering Ngakoue a one yr contract will not upset the culture but like you said, there may be team culture issues we dont know about. He's not buying anyone that doesnt do max effort all the time.
