All the draftable Qbs are just ( might be good) prospects. Justin Fields has leadership , uncanny speed and power for a QB, great runner, strong arm, size and great work ethic. Young appears to be a good QB as far as skills, but his size leaves to many questions for durability. If your betting on futures , Justin is easily your best option. Poles is running with Fields and expects him to take a step up this year. Why would he want to build a culture and then tear it down by getting rid of your best leader? Sports journalists are just trying to get attention by suggesting we trade him.

Seen a story where after the senior bowl, we had private meetings with Mauch and Avelia ( OL). I can see us taking one of them with pick 54 or 63. I don't think they count on them to be a starter but ready if a starter fails.
-
The first step is who do we bring back before free agency starts? They jumped out on ESB but that was all besides some futures contracts. That means they are evaluating upgrades at all positions. Still could bring back a few but must not be sold on our current free agents.

I think OL and DL are totally his purpose this year. He came from KC and Cunningham came from Philly. I think it's a priority to fix the OL in free agency and let the draft take care of DE and DT . They will draft someone like Cody Mauch that can play anywhere on the OL . That way if injury or poor play comes into play they can plug him in. There are several OCs and RTs available this year in FA. So to get him it has to be in the second round by pick 54. So if we have 2 picks before that they will be DT and DE. We could upgrade everywhere but the strength of the draft is Edge so there we be a lot of options.

His first year was a total waste of time. His rookie season was last year under good coaching. This will be the year he makes a jump. No way he's drafting a 5'10" QB to replace Fields.
-
I don't think any GM has enough information to know who they want to draft right now. By a week before the draft there will be a mad rush to get that pick.
-
There has been many Bulldogs that have been successful. Just because ones didn't work out here shouldn't be a negative. My problem with Carter is his lack of production. To be a stud talent, I prefer a productive player. Will Anderson is that kind of stud.

Look at how jacked up NO cal has been for yrs and they still got players signed somehow. If they want to keep him, they will.

Not sure any team that's drafting a QB is gives WRs away in a trade. The most realistic trade I've seen to drop to 2 is, pick 2, A second round pick and a future 2024 pick.If we drop farther down, they will add more pics obviously. Now if one QB stands out at the combine. It will cause a bidding war but all these outlandish trades are pretty unrealistic. If we can trade down twice, probably 3 extra picks this year and a couple next year is it. Not everyone is as stupid as Pace was.

For Washington to become fluid with the cap, all they have to do is cut Wentz. No penalty. 1. Payne 2. Dremont Jones 3.Jason Hargrove 4. Zack Allen 5. Dalvin Tomilson 6. David Omyemata 7. A'Shawn Robinson The first 4 are 3 Ts the rest are NTs. We can get at least one.

Not sure an ACL tear isn't recoverable. I think once healthy, good to go. He's not a RB or WR.
-
I suspect we draft more than 2 DLs but can't find anything wrong with those players. Maybe more realistic than we know because Free agency comes first and some of those needs will be fixed. The A- is the right grade for that draft.

Starting today any players released are available to sign. As Adam mentioned, we are first on the waiver wire. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/lists/chicago-bears-offseason-dates-2023/

Seen a proposed trade with Washington that brought back Chase Young, Jahan Dobson/WR and a second round pick and future 2024 # 1 pick. Plus pick 15. Would you do that ? Why would Washington do that? Get a QB and would then have money to pay Payne.
-
I think he attacks the Oline in free agency and Defense in the draft.
-
Something Adam brought up before is when vets get released after FAgency, we are first on the waiver wire to pick up players . There should be a few gems there. I think Poles and Cunningham have the KC-Eagles heritage and will do a good job to upgrade the roster. So many places to add talent. I seen where (PFF grading?) had Jones ranked 20 out of 84 OTs. Jenkins was ranked 3 out of 68 OGs We have a solid foundation to rebuild the OL in Free agency. Impatiently waiting for free agency to start.
-
I'm impressed by all the A grades, hard to do on PFF. Don't always understand their grading system but its something to measure players with.
-
Last years NFL rosters were 1/3 UDFAs. Most on that list will be late round picks but everyone of them will be signed to contracts. Diabrate and Mapu are interesting prospects.
-
Greg Gabriel was talking about the chances of getting DeRon Payne. Washington has cap problems but they can save 26 million by just cutting Carson Wentz without penalty. The key for them is the DL situation where next year they need to pay their DEs. Do you want to stick that much money in the DL.

Its nice projecting stuff but have no idea how and who does well at the next level. Parsons is the last under sized edge rusher to have great praise. He has 149 tackles, 26.5 sacks, 56 QB hits, 33 TFL 6 FF, 6 PD, 3 FR in two years. He is the same size as Will Anderson. I'll take the stud pass rusher. I agree with the stats are bullshit but sometimes there not.
-
The article makes some good points but great players transcends schemes. Lets say we pass on Anderson and he gets 14 sacks. We take Tyree Wilson ( better fit for defense) and he gets 8 sacks. That's not a win.
-
I think the first 3 picks are spot on. DL, DE, and OL. I think they bring in a RT in free agency but bring in a Cody Mauch that could play multiple positions to cover is someone fails on the line. 8 top 103 players would be awesome.
-
If they use the value system, it will only grab you a second round pick for Houston to move one spot. I would say a bidding war gets you multiple this year and something next year. I doubt it would be a one though. So 2 nd a 4 th and second next year. Then Colts give you a second and a 3rd rounder this year and next years 3rd.. Carolina grab you another second round and a first next year. Grab Tyree Wilson. 9 th pick, 3 seconds, 2 thirds , 2 4ths. Next a one, A second and a 3rd.

Poles did Quinn a favor, he's in the Super Bowl. He has a good game and someone is paying a 1 year, 8 mil contract. Good for him.
-
Poles left an out with his contract, 500,000 dead cap hit if cut. He's smart enough to know that didn't work out. I think he wanted him to bring some attitude to the line. Ended getting that from Jenkins. Mustifer and Eiselen need to be resigned but Kramer is still here. Mauch would be a perfect selection, he can fill in anywhere that a player doesn't work out. I think he goes in the second round. I don't think he counts on any rookies to start on the line this year and brings in free agents for the OL.
