Last years 7 th rounder actually got playing time, Elijah Hicks. The difference with Bell is we supposedly drafted 2 3 Ts already and Poles gushed over Bell. Seems a little odd but he must expect to have him to contribute at some point in time. I think Poles likes finding sleepers. ( Braxton Jones). A 7 th rounder always has to contribute on STs. It will be interesting to see what he turns into.

Travis Bell is a virtual unknown to most of the football community. Poles drafted Bell on the premise that no one else could take him. He speaks highly of him for the same reason he drafted Pickens and Dexter, he likes his traits. (size is ignored) No reason to think he will even make the 53 man roster but Poles has reasons for drafting him and am very curious to see him play. I believe he didnt draft AA because he had a similar player he could get at the end of the draft. Cant wait to see if he is any good. another late round gem? Maybe so , he hit on Braxton Jones with the same kind of faith.

He rebuilt the WR room with two trades, Claypool and Moore. Then drafted a WR. Scott. Great job considering FAgency and the draft were not rated real high this season. I like the process Poles has done to rebuilding the roster. Being patient and this year attacked the WR room and LB room. Drafted DTs when most of the edge rushers were gone. Rebuilt the OL with Davis and drafting Wright. He moved Whitehair to OC that literally improved 3 positions. Jones and Jenkins are promising young players.

They also had a S and an OG signed from the tryouts. Bralen Trahan/S and Josh Lugg/OG.

I seen someone mention Melvin Ingram for our pass rush help in FA. He had 494 snaps. 6 sacks, 23 pressures. I suspect would come cheap. I dont think Poles ends up adding a big name for edge help. So this seems like a likely choice. DeMaucus Walker might be underrated by fans. 404 snaps, 32 Ts, 7 sacks, 10 TFL, 16 qb hits. 32 qb pressures. Some people are wanting some bigger named edge rushers that had worst stats. Frank Clark 717 snaps, 39 ts, 5 sacks, 8 tfl, 13 qb hits, 24 qb pressures.

Almost every player has some flaws , where they get drafted speaks to how much coaching can eliminate the flaws. I dont think Tippmann is a day one starter but will be a good player in this league. I just think with so many young players on the OL , Poles fells better about having a vet at OC to go along with Davis for vet leadership. Poles thinks Dexter can become Chris Jones or Buckner. A huge man that moves well. Have been reading a lot about Dexter because I didnt like the pick. But one guy broke down the DL of the Florida team and all the DL had more of a set and hold approach over firing off the ball . His production was attributed to not being used right more than having a slow fire off the ball. For me, so far I trust Poles, if he thinks Dexter and Pickens can become good 3 Ts , Im all in until proven different. I read a lot of tweets about Dexter in his first practice and most everyone said he appeared quick off the ball. Time will tell what he turns into.

Skor will be a quality player but will end up a OG. Poles likes what he likes, and we will have to see how it turns out. Skor was picked 11th, many experts rate him the best OL in the draft. I think he excels .

Poles is filling needs. Borom didnt pan out so he grabbed a virtual day one starter at RT. Moore was brought in because we needed a #1, its not related to V Jones. Scott was brought in to compete with V Jones, because Velus has yet to prove himself. Easily both can make the roster which just adds to depth if they both work out. I see Jones getting 6-8 touches of which I believe will get you one wow play a game. It that becomes reality, he will be a viable playmaker on this team. Johnson was the BPA available at that time of the draft. With the Johnson upside it easily pusher Ebner off the roster. Ebner didnt show enough to last on this roster. He missed out on his opportunity to get playing time. Poles brings in competition, any spot he had questions in, he added to it. If Johnson is real good, it probably pushes Homer off the roster.

I think that what will be interesting is last years draftees. Will Braxton Jones, Brisker, and Gordon be better? Does Velus, Robinson, Carter take a step forward. Some rookies will shine but most are on a 3 year growth to be good.

I've been watching a lot of podcasts and don't remember which football guy said it but one of our UDFAs, Thyrick Pitts/ WR from Delaware , he predicted to make the 53 player roster. 6'3" 200 with 4.37 speed. That would be very interesting considering our WR room as it stands.

It seems like fans were high on Wypler more than NFL teams were. He was drafted at pick 190. Kramer was drafted at pick 207. Just shows you draft projections don't matter. Everyone that wanted Wypler already have him on the roster. Doug Kramer. Only two OCs had draft credible value. Joe Tippmann and JMS.

Jones overall performance was downplayed because he was a 5 th pick but he was ranked the 16 th best OT even thou he had a lot of penalties and sacks. He has a high ceiling. If he was a high pick people would talk better about his progression but he was looked at negatively. Whitehair and Patrick will upgrade OC, average would be a big leap forward over Mustifer last year.

Historically its hard to find rookie TEs that contribute high end production. Only a handful in the last 10 years. Their WR room has an upside to it but it's going to take some time for all the young players to jell with Love if he ends up being any good. The thing Rodgers did was extend his throwing time by good pocket awareness. Don't know if Love has that. Watson is the only potential number 1 in the group and he has a long way to go. Last year they were 21st in the league in rushing, nothing special. The only two quality OL is Jenkins and Barkihari, he's injured all the time. The Packers are on the decline unless Love ends up being good.
-
Definitely going to be interesting to see how it works out He's still a talented player but his skills have eroded. A good coach might be able to make things work but not solely on Rodgers being the star. Bringing in Cobb and Lazard is just giving you 2022 Packers garbage 2.0

What I like is we now have (nasty ) OL with 3 starters. Jenkins, Davis and Wright. They don't want to just block you but destroy you. I think we're in a good spot.
-
Just listened to a Barroom segment with Gabriel talking about UDFAs. He said he thinks, the OT Houey could replace Borom on the roster. His question was medical not tape. He has a nasty attitude and fits the hitz principle. If he stays healthy could eventually becomes a starter.

Actually Tyler Scott was the value pick. Rated 48th best player by Brugler, that's a steal on a deep threat. That's what Velus was supposed to be. I think the reason Poles didn't take Wypler is we have the same player on the roster in Doug Kramer. Very similar in all their traits. Like you, I liked Brown but Poles took Johnson instead. I really trust Poles until he makes a big mistake with a draft pick. Last years picks only Ebner looks like a mistake. Robinson, Carter, Kramer, and Velus Jones still could turn into good players. Hicks is a good special teamer already , which is good for the 7 th round. Zach Thomas was sto!en by LA and got starts last year. I like what Poles is doing, it seemed flawed last year but it's falling into place. I think this year we win more than we lose. If we can make the playoffs in his second year with 2 first round draft picks staring us in the face. We have a fun next 5 years coming. I know I'm being very optimistic but it looks very promising to a lot of people, not just me.
-
The biggest thing Poles did was add WR depth so if someone gets hurt, minimal drop off. Everyone forgets about V Jones but he's going to have one WOW play a game with only 5 or 6 touches . Line up Mooney and Claypool on the outside and have Scott and Velus in the route package. That's a lot of speed. This offense is going to be so good. Last year we had 5 games where we had over. 29 points a game. We are going to have that weekly this year.

I would have taken Tuli instead of Dexter too and AA. Poles clearly thinks Dexter turns into D Buckner or Chris Jones. I think Poles knew he was getting Travis Bell late and rates him a AA clone. If he hits on those 2 DTs , this will be an awesome draft. Brugler had Scott rated as a top 50 player in this draft. (48). Wright will be an all pro one day and Johnson will be eventual starter. A lot of experts have Stevenson rated high and Terrell Smith isn't far behind. If Sewell had come out a year earlier, he would have been a first round pick. He had a great 2021 year. As far as OC, he felt comfortable with vets maning the center position. With a young OT, A rookie and a young Jenkins, he clearly thought another rookie would hold down the growth of the OL. I agree, 4 young players and Davis would take longer to jell. Had he drafted JMS or Joe Tippmann, he may have changed that philosophy but he needed those high picks to get DL. In one off-season, he made the back 7 defense one of the best in the league. Added WR help, OL, and Rbs. Another target with Tonyan. Poles has did an outstanding job. Plus draft capital in the future.

I agree with everyone's opinion. Herbert has problems being an every down back. Pass protect and receiving questionable, but good runner. I think Foreman is going to surprise everyone how good he is. Everywhere he's been, he was the backup. Last year in Carolina he got to be the lead back. Was better than Monty. He's senior season at Texas, over 2000 rushing. He won't get the chance here but if healthy, he could be top 5 rushers in the league. I watched a lot tape on him, I didn't realize he was that good. Then they draft Johnson who would easily be an every down back. Our rushing offense is going to be outstanding with so many good backs. Added Wright, Davis, and Cody moving to OC. Then Jones and Jenkins getting better. Our offense is going to be outstanding. I think they also increase the passing offence, with such balance we will add 10 to 15 more offensive plays to each game. I predict our offense is going to be top 5 in scoring if Fields takes his next step forward.
-
Go for it, competition is a good thing.
-
The WR room was bottom 5 last year, maybe the worst in the league. One year later, Poles turned into top 10 .( IMO) Obviously Fields taking a giant forward makes that happen. DJ Moore is a top 12 WR in the league. Mooney and Claypool are above average WRs in this league. Venus Jones will be a gimmick player. Tyler Scott will be interesting to see what role he develops. The key here is if we have any injuries, we have good depth.

I thought Dexter would be a NT but he's going to be a 3 T. Flus had Buckner in Indy, I think they are trying to recreate that player in Dexter.
-
He's played 3 yrs in a row on one year contracts. At this stage of free agency with some other vets getting cut, he's probably going to sign cheaper. One year, 10 mil with bonuses sounds doable.

Weatherford came with some creed, I want to see him play and go from there.
