I think I read somewhere where both Jenkins and Davis were rated (PFF) in the top 10 of guards last year. Don't buy into PFF completely but it is one way to measure players. I remember one year where Adrian Amos was rated the top safety. Very good but wasn't the best.

Upgrading the talent makes for more competition. That's a good thing.
-
PFF came out with their preseason positional ranking and had Cody Whitehair as the 11th best OC. I dont put a lot of stock in all of PFF data but when it sounds good, I'll pop it.

For us to be a winning team this year there are a lot of questions that have to be answered yes. These statements are true: He improved the Oline He improved the WR room He improved the RB room He improved the TE room He improved the DB group He improved the LB group He improved the DT group He improved the edge position ( maybe a small step but still improved it) With all this improvements, still the single most important thing that will make us a winning team is for Justin Fields to take a step forward. It remains to be seen if small steps were taken or if giant steps move us forward. I think Poles is given us a giant step in the right direction and Fields will take us there. AM I DRINKING TO MUCH KOOLAID OR ARE THESE STATEMENTS ABOVE ARE TRUE?

When I was in Thailand I listened on Audacy . The cool thing with Audacy is you can go back and play segments with descriptions of what was talked about. You can go back 24 hours. Pick and choose what you want to hear. When home it comes in perfect being in the Rockford area.

To be honest his attitude surprises me. I think he expected a bigger pay check and took Lions offer instead to spit the Bears. I think the bears offer was similar but expected more. The Lions have a good upside but drafted a starter in the first round. Monty will get the start but will be a backup by years end. The Bears win total will surpass the Lions because of the upside of Fields. He made a bad decision but was lucky for us because our RB room is better.

When I'm not watching real football, I watch highlights that create endorphins in my body. Until reality hits, I may be let down, but nothing like hope for an uplifting mood better place to be than predicting 6-11.

I was looking at the new people we added on the DL and noticed, compared to other DTs in the league, Justin Jones actually did not play that bad. 52 Ts, 3 sacks, 4 PDs, 1 FR.,12 TFL, 7 QB hits. Played 67% of snaps. With better support players on the DL, his stats may improve.

You have to excuse my optimism, I watched Fields and MJ highlights. I'm pumped. Only time of the year, I can do that.

Where the Eagles excel is great depth. Our starters will compete but our record will be determined by injuries. If it stays low, we will be in good shape. I think the unknown with be very positive for us. Take last years additions, Patrick, B Jones, Justin Jones, Ja'Tre Carter, Claypool, Sanborn, Robinson, Gordon, Brisker, Jaylon Jones, Chase Allen, Blackwell, Velus Jones, Michael Ojenmuda, and Elijah Hicks will all play better. A few of them will take giant steps., we just have questions until they prove themselves. Our RBs are better, our WRs are better. We go 2 deep at TE, it's going to be Fields and the oline that will define our wins. We had 7 one score loses by some wild plays. If we were 7-9 or 8-8 , what would the NFL experts be predicting this year? They would have us in the playoffs.

The one constant for Eagles is they have a top oline. If our line jells we can outdo the Eagles offensive stats. I agree with your assessments. I think Fields will be closer to Josh Allen's 3 rd year than jalen Hurts. Fields will be a better QB than Hurts. (Allen) 3rd year. 4544-37-10 2023 Fields...4050-32-13 IMO

You speak a lot of truths they need to work on but my optimism is fueled by the fact Fields is the hardest working player on the team and wants to be great. I just watch a bunch of MJ highlights and Fields has some of the drive Jordon had. Also last year while growing the offense, Gresty adapted to Field's talent. This year as the offense grows, our passing will achieve new heights because our talent level will match that. The sky is the limit. Fields is going to take us a long way. Fields is a leader of men, he went to Jenkins wedding and is going to JJs charity golf outing this weekend. He gets people involved in the culture.

As with other good WRs in the league, sometimes the QB throws them open. How many times was Davante Adams in close coverage and catch the ball. It's a combination of a good WR and a QB that trusts the WR to get the ball when thrown in close coverage. Every QB doesn't need a 5 yard separation to throw a completion. Its a trust between QB and WR. Fields has that with Mooney and now is gaining that with Moore. I think similar, he is trusting Kmet more. The mind set of the passing game will change the performance on the field. It will look like a different offense this year. 250-150 between passing yards and rushing yards will make us a very good offense. Support group mattered.

What we have now are DTs can play run better but also occupy OL that will allow LBers to be more viable in coverage and the run game. Our LB group now will have the best missed tackle percentage in the league. Last year Edmunds only had one missed tackle. As much as I was shocked by the spending at the LB spot but it adds so much to both pass coverage and run stops. We have some smart people running this team.
-
This year we added the top drafted running for having missed tackles. Johnson, he will eventually show up and that will change the RB room. I suspect Foreman gets the start with Herbert doing his thing. They will not turn the job over easily but Johnson will be the man as the season progresses.

As it gets repeated to infinity, the Bears were the worst sack team in the league. With Walker, Green that will improve it. If Robinson and Gipson play better, that will improve it. You get an improvement out of the middle of the defense, it gets better. Add in a scheme that gets Edmunds, Edwards and Sewell some rushing attempts, we will be better. Add Brisker attempts and we rise to the middle of the pack. Not great but acceptable. If he still adds an edge, that will help. Overall this team got better without adding a star edge, that will come next year. We have the potential of having a very good back of the defense, that will help the sack total. The sum of the whole has improved.

I think as media states it ( the culture) , they are doing things the right way. Doing events to having players bond, communicate, and spend time together. Tevan Jenkins got married this off-season and several players attended the wedding in Texas. Justin Fields was there, as team leaders should have been. I think it helps Jenkins buy in to the culture more of which he may have had a problem with last year. I think part of Detroit's success has been the same thing with their grounded head coach. I think we have a bright future.

Hopefully he wins it, Santos worries me. His career has been up and down.
-
I agree he needs to advance in many areas. I dont think he has a slow throwing motion as much as when he sees a WR break, he hesitates because he doesnt trust him to catch the ball. He tries to wait until they get open more. You rarely see a throwing problem when he threw to Mooney because he trusted him.

Name one player that isnt a leading choice (Fields-Edmunds) that will be the biggest surprise in their contribution to the team this year? I think DeMarcus Walker will surprise the team and lead the team in sacks. He had his best year last year and in a (Hakim Hicks type of season breakout as a consistent contributor on defense.) Last year he played 33% of Titans defensive snaps , 33 tkls, 10 TFL,. 16 QB hits, 8 sacks and 32 pressures. If he plays 50% of the D snaps, what can he do? 8-10 sacks, 40 pressures I have seen lots of information on Walker and several places list him with 7 sacks and several list him with 8 sacks. PFF goes over every snap a player has , so I am going with their choice.

I will see things on the internet and want to drop the info but doesnt fit in a specific thread. Mike Lombard in regularly on the SCORE during football season. He has always condemned Justin Fields and his NFL potential. He was on the McAfree Show and they were talking about Jordon Love and the Packers. He said everyone is underestimating Love and the team. Then was asked about the Bears and said that he doesnt see Fields having the ability to be a top QB in this league. He makes a comment and even thou the upside of Fields has changed, has to double down on his first comments so he can be the smartest guy in the room. He's a PUD. as a Bears fan>
