  1. That was my thoughts. However, I think the ESPNChicago tweet has more to do with changes to their radio station vs. chicago sports news but I could be wrong.
  2. It either has nothing to do with his contract or it is him signing with the Bears. No one else can sign him. I truly hope it is an extension because i Love Peanut. He is a true leader and the epitome of a high character individual that plays in the NFL. Oh and he's still a very good football player. I hope he moves to FS but I don't want him to play a game anywhere else. Tillman is 100 times the man that Urlacher is/was.
  3. Hopefully the 1st of many probowl appearances for Alshlon!
  4. I was just going to post this. Those are some very nice cap numbers.
  5. I presume it means Long might be moving to tackle.

What are you talking about? Emery did? The market was set. See the Stafford, Romo, Ryan, and Flacco deals. I would take Cutler over 2 of those players and put him on pretty even footing with Romo. Ryan is better but this past year was a major step back for him. I like Cutler more then Flacco and Stafford.
  7. The GB player made a great play on Peppers. That's it. Emery talked about Peppers and said that Peppers had an 8-8 season just like everyone else. I think it would be wise to bring Pepp back but he'll need to restructure and hopefully he will. Is Wooten under contract? He is, right? I don't think we can afford to be replacing an entire line, I'd think we'd start by replacing 2 players on the d-line and adding depth. A lot of the defensive needs will be determined based upon what Phil/Trest decide the strategy will be going forward. It sounds like Shea/Bostic are both going to move outside which might mean Briggs is on his way out. That said, Emery was pretty damn complimenting of Briggs and Briggs could be a pretty good player as one of the two interior LB's in a 3-4. I'd really love Peanut back as our safety. Dline has to be fixed and DT has to be the biggest priority. I think we will sign Bennett's brother and then focus heavily on the tackle / lb position in the draft. Would be curious if we make a run at Byrd for safety as clearly we have to make some changes their as well.
  8. Emery took full responsibility and said he didn't provide the team with the appropriate depth to overcome the injuries, etc. Emery said Shea didn't have enough impact plays and didn't play to his potential. Trestman said Shea is capable of more and the Bears coaches must take responsibility in his development because the talent is there. Basically they said he played crappy, but we aren't going to cut him, and we see potential and will work for him to take steps forward. Emery also indicated he sees bostic as an OLB vs. MLB.
  9. Trestman and Cutler are now tied at the hip and I love it (Kromer too...as Cutler excelling over the next couple years would create a great opportunity for him to move on and take a HC gig). Cutler was by far the most mature and best player this year (despite injuries) and it was year 1 in the system. He'll have a full off-season to work with his receiving corps and our coaching staff and continue to refine this offense, which should be a great thing. Sounds like this is a 3 year lock-up and then if you want to go longer and Jay is producing you do, otherwise you have the option of moving on. If this move works, Trestman will retire with the Bears, imo, because we'll have the QB play and offense to be able to consistently win in this league and make the playoffs. They HAVE to fix the defense though and I appreciated the honesty out of Emery/Trestman regarding Shea and the defense as a whole.
  10. Agreed. However, it is interesting that they didn't mention it in the press conference. I'd have thought if they were ready they'd announce it. Maybe they didn't want to cloud this positive press conference with the negatives of the DC. Or maybe they are waiting to see if the right candidate becomes available. The big issue with Trestman is he has a major history of offing defensive coordinators so there could be some risk that you fire Tucker and end up unable to bring people back because the overall consensus in the league is he didn't get a fair deal. Easy for an outsider to talk about the injuries and use it as an excuse. My issue was how out of position our defensive players were consistently. That said, Cutler indicated Tucker wouldn't be going anywhere and I have to think Cutler is pretty in the know. I also think it is pretty crazy that there wasn't any leaks. Bears front office seems to be tight lipped.
  11. Emery didn't mess around and given how many things the club has to address, glad this got done. I really would love to see Tillman come back and play safety but I figure tillman will end up in Tampa and reunite with Lovie and Marinelli.
  12. It was an intentional underthrow. Great ball placement and Jeffrey should have made the play.
  13. They were the underdogs. 4th and 8 was a huge failure but the D sucked and I had zero faith they'd stop Rodgers. I was hoping they'd score sooner so Jay would have time to maybe get a win as time expires. This defense was pathetic. Think back to the big drives by the Skins and Vikings where the D choked too. Tucker has to go. People have to be fired when the D is that big of a disaster.
  14. Him and Decamilis have to be fired. It is so obvious and because of that...the Bears won't do it.
  15. Not even close...2010. That was a much better team then this years squad (mainly because the defense was so historically putrid).
  16. This is a passing league and his defenses have ranked near dead last pretty much every year as a DC in sacks (over 7 years). I am usually a pretty easy guy on coaches but Tucker was a complete disaster as was Decamilis and both need to be shown the door. This is coming from a guy that would have given Shoop more time for god sakes. Tucker makes Bob Babich look competent as a DC.
  17. If Tucker is back, Emery and Trestman are jokes. He's a freakin disaster. Heads have to roll for the collosal failures on the defensive side of the football. This team is in awful position and that is on our coaches.
  18. Rookie vs. 3rd most accurate in the NFL. I'll stick with Gould.
  19. Bears need to fire Tucker and DeCammilis. Okay, I haven't said that about Tucker all year but about 4 weeks ago I started saying it. Special teams is easily said. Its freakin awful. Defensively, yes there were injuries, but lets look past that because Tucker had time to adjust and had continuity (albeit replacement players) and this team has been nothing but out-schemed, out of position, poor tackling, poor angles, all year. That is very very very much on our coaching and heads need to roll for it. Trestman doesn't know defense...I get it...we learned our lesson with Lovie or I hope we did and we need to stop freakin around and pay big money to someone who can come in and literally run the defense. Find a proven expert and hand them the keys. Pay big money to Phillips or Rex Ryan please. Special mention goes to the following individuals who just suck: - Chris Conte - Shea McScukin (Nfo was right from day one) - Devin Hester (thanks for the greatness back in the day but you are done) - Adam Podlesh I considered listing some more Emery draft picks; Bostic and Greene are freakin awful and if they have any chance we need to get them away from Tucker and into the hands of good coaches quickly.
  20. You are a great poster Cracker. Been spot on all day today.
  21. Tucker is terrible. Poor discipline, poor tackling are on him. I realize injuries hurt us but there is zero excuse for the piss poor execution of this quad. Tucker needs to be fired and Ryan and Wade Phillips are two guys I'd pay a lot of money to to run our D. I'd prefer Phillips because Ryan will probably at some point get another gig.
  22. Screw that. This game decides Jay's future. Play well and make the playoffs, you get your extension with the Bears...don't and you'll get paid by someone else. Cutler was the least of the Bears problems last night. He didn't play good but you play football quite a bit different when you are down 3 TD's before you ever really get a chance to make a play. Tucker/DeCammilis have to be fired.
  23. Supposedly he is truly done. Trestman said it was personal and wouldn't go into more detail. I guess he hasn't healed as much as they were hoping.
  24. Peanut is an all time Bear great and legend. I would be disgusted to see him play in another uni. Hopefully the Bears can work things out. I think he will still be a very effective player.
