  1. I think it will be hard for us to score the type of points we did last year though too. I think the offense can be better but I also think we have Forte getting older, Marshall getting older, etc. Like our oline and love the idea of a 2nd year of Trestman but there will also be more footage out there too. I think we have potential super bowl capabilities but a lot still has to happen as planned and hopefully you don't have any crushing injuries. I'm extremely excited for this upcoming year but also the direction the franchise seems to be heading. We definitely need last years draft picks (as well as the current years) to step up and grow though cause that really is the key to long-term sustained success (well that and Cutler).
  2. Completely agree. I have bitched at Emery in the past but I am extremely pleased with how the organization has addressed our needs. The next step is hoping that those guys produce and develop as expected and that the vets come in and play as we all hope and expect!!! We also have to hope our existing young players and veterans can take steps forward too.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised if they go DT again either (or RB / WR / MLB).
  4. I've been probably one of the most anti Emery guys on the board and it has been because he hasn't won me over through the drafts.
  5. It is a need pick so i can live with it. Seems like we would be better off trading down but I guess you never know who else is on the list and who might take him. We all know I will always or almost always say trade down, especially when we need to get some more picks to maybe help us move up to ensure we can get the safety we want (and to potentially grab a RB / Speed wideout as those are the two offensive positions I'd like to draft). Seems like a major reach though which is a Emery trend. I look at reaches as not maximizing value of our pick. If we hit on it, great, we have better scouts and that is awesome, but we also need to leverage that knowledge and move down and take advantage of more options to take advantage of that scouting.
  6. @BradBiggs: I am told #Bears are drafting LSU DT Ego Ferguson with 51st overall pick in 2nd round.
  7. Baltimore has had a great draft. I'd have really liked that draft for the Bears.
  8. I know there was at least a tribune article or two on Fuller that I remember reading and Bears brought him in.
  9. Given Emery has pretty tight lips, I wouldn't get too excited or mad about these tweets.
  10. I don't believe in giving up future firsts. Just a bad idea. I believe in robbing other teams of their future firsts.
  11. Conte was a good safety two years ago and as good as our D was 2 years ago, our D was far worse last year and no safety would have excelled in that D.
  12. I think at some point Tillman comes / moves to safety or plays in a reduced role. I think he has a spot in Chicago as long as he wants it. I love Tillman but in this league, you need multiple good corners.
  13. Not really. You don't draft on year one. He's going to get a lot of snaps if our CB's are healthy and if one goes down, he gets even more snaps and he's a starter a year from now (presuming he performs).
  14. We have struggled but the rest of the league hasn't. You can find a lot of safety's who were later round picks that are solid. Daniel Manning was a high pick (so we did invest there). Major Wright was an early pick too. We invested, we just missed.
  15. I don't think Brooks / Ward are on the board in the 3rd round.
  16. We aren't taking a safety in round 2, not without trading down, imo. Converted corner to safety. Our safety's were in zero position to succeed last year. We had the worst dine in football. No pass rush, bad linebacking play (on top of the bad dline) put our safety's in bad spots from a rushing game perspective and also hung them out to dry from a cover perspective. They played bad too but an elite safety would have struggled given the situation at LB / Dline last year. It was just brutal. I think Emery recognizes that and they know they have a few guys that might play. Plus, I don't care what anyone says, Conte was not a bad player 2 years ago. He was freakin atrocious last year and I wouldn't write him off. Unfortunately that shoulder injury was a big issue for Bears cause that might spell him in. I like our chances at getting a good cover guy who can tackle and moving them to FS. Jimmy Ward would be nice. Love how he finds himself around the football so often.
  17. Definitely sounds like he was his best player available and clearly they graded him out above corner and corner is more important. I think we all wanted safety because our safety play has been so bad but a better dline should help that out and we can still add to our secondary and find a safety.
  18. I absolutely think he could play safety. I think there are a ton of top corners who would be elite safety's but very few free safety's who would be above average corners. I'm not saying Fuller can't play safety but I don't think we drafted him to play safety. I think he's here to get a lot of playing time (look at our division and the wideouts we go up against and passing attacks) this year and think we'll draft a guy later who we will convert to safety (although we very well might go safety in the 2nd round too). I just think it is easier to find safety then corner and I think it is a more important position. I also wasn't overly sold on Ha Ha, although I like Pryor a lot, I think CB is more important and therefore presume JA had him as the top corner and saw a lot of value in getting him at 14 (vs. a safety).
  19. I will say, I think, if a team were interested (and there may not have been a team willing), I would have moved down. Broke my heart when Donald was picked but I really excited to have a guy who could be an elite corner and having three good corners is going to be very important giving how this is a passing league and we are in a division with two teams that can throw the football.
  20. I like what Browns have done. I really liked getting the CB. I have quietly been pushing CB over safety (in fact had MLB over safety too) and would have taken CB or Mosely over either safety, especially Ha Ha who I think is very overrated. I think in this deep corner draft we'll see Bears select another corner, who they think they can move to free safety. We got a guy who some thought was the top corner in the draft @ 14. I'll take that all day and let Tillman and company help coach him and prepare him. I hope we get another young guy to join the secondary and think it will be a third or 4th rounder that we convert. You can find good safety's late and that guy doesn't have to be a safety as you can teach a corner to be a safety and succeed (and I love the idea of having a guy that is a good cover guy at safety…clearly they have to be able to tackle too).
  21. DT > Safety. i like pick. would have traded down if i could though.
  22. I think that is why I mentioned when you have one guy on the board who you grade out well above everyone else, you don't trade down. When you have multiple guys who grade out similarly, you then trade down.
  23. I think he goes DT / MLB / CB in round 1.
  24. Given the depth of this draft at some key positions of need, I think the organization should consider the anti Ditka and stockpile picks depending on how the scenario's work in round 1. I keep saying it, but if Donald is off the board, unless all of our other key guys are too, I think we move down and I think we could move down a decent number of picks, stockpile additional picks in rounds 2-3 and still get a DT that grades out in the 1st round (or a CB / Safety).
