DJ Williams was an above average linebacker. Seen him play a lot. Evidently you haven't.
-
Against this defense, that was the right offense to run.
-
Way to ignore the TD catch which was sick. He also had a big 3rd down catch.
-
Why the hell would we want to adjust our defense.
-
He spread the ball over the field and looked good. Sounds to me like you are bitching to bitch. Really liked the offensive game plan. Against a defense like Cutler, I'm glad we didn't go pass happy or crazy. Played it conservative and opened things up when need be in the 2nd half. Finished the game strong and Cutler played well. Really had one bad pass (the interception) but had good command of the offense. Defense gave up some big plays against AJ Green but were in a tough position with Tillman going in and out.
-
Absolutely huge. Loved the play calling. Given the defensive line the Bengals have, liked how we mixed things up and really came on strong in the 2nd half. Oline had a couple holds but as a whole played very well.

What are your expectations for Game 1 and the entire season?

We will see an above average D. Offensively I don't know yet. I think it all comes down to the o-line, Cutler, and Alshon stepping up. If we have a quick action, up tempo offense with quick releases, varying pockets and throwing angles, I think we will be okay. I see the team winning between 7 to 11 games and fall in at about 10. Tough tough schedule though. * And of course health...everything keys in on the health of the key players. -
Agreed. There were a lot of times Bostic was out of position. He still has some things to learn and he's going to get plenty of reps and preperation and will step into a larger role soon enough and at that point should be more prepared to succeed long term.
-
Bengals are a really good team and this game will be a huge challenge for our offense and defense. On the offensive front, this will be a huge test for our oline as the Bengals have one of the best front fours in football, if not the best front four in football.

Let it go. Its done...whether he was average vs. below average last year is a moot point now. Argument has been beaten to death and he was lousy in the preseason and didn't stand up to the challenge. Now he's on the Vikings.
-
Ford looked pretty good in the preseason. Looked like a strong runner who could be a nice 3rd stringer. Hopefully he can play special teams though cause Bears are dropping a good special teams player.
-
Read the quotes vs. the title. Marshall never said he didn't know the offense, more that it takes time to fit in and he hasn't really had enough time on the field yet.
-
There wasn't anything close to that with Cutler today. A ball almost got picked but that was because Marshall dropped it (and everything else thrown his way). Alshon looked fantastic!
-
Looks like a guy with the tools to turn into a sleeper.
-
He's terrible. Bears back-up dlinemen didn't look bad. If I were the Raiders, Pryor would be the starting QB. He made some really nice plays (some bad stuff too but far better then Flynn). Cutler played really really well. Looked very comfortable in the pocket and outside of maybe one or two passes that could have been better he had pretty much a perfect game. Good reads, catchable balls. Unfortunately Marshall, Fendi, and Bennett had a ton of drops. Forte looked outstanding and the playcalling was good. Oline looked solid as well. It was the Raiders though and it is the preseason. I hope the lack of penalties on the o-line and offense (or at least the starters) holds up throughout the course of the season!
-
I've seen enough of Fendi. Kellen Davis has better hands. Small sample size but dude has zero hands. He's dropped pretty much everything thrown his way, including two touchdown passes in as many days.
-
Bennett had a drop; and another ball that he could have and probably should have grabbed. You could see him getting open though and I think he's going to have a great opportunity to put up the best receiving year in franchise history from the TE position. He better stay healthy too cause the Bears have pure shit at the position outside of him.
-
Yes...I highlighted the tools that he showed. I didn't say he's going to be a hall of famer.
-
Like this move a lot more.

People are making an awful lot of conclusions about the coaching staff and Emery's drafting ability based upon preseason production. Sure there are tools that you see and things to be encouraged but what matters is regular and post-season production. Conclusions should be made based upon that. Right now...this is just preliminary information that gives you a bit of an educated hypothesis as to what these players and the coaching staff may be capable of. All of it is happening with very vanilla playbooks (both on our team and for the other team).

The bigger question is, in what world isn't Edwards a better option then both backups we have on board. Edwards is a smart QB that actually is a pretty solid fit in the WCO. I was watching the Seahawks game last night and I was quite jealous of their back-up situation. Nice to have guys like Tavarus Jackson and Brady Quinn behind you. And everyone will laugh at me for saying Tavarus Jackson but he's a good back-up with some upside. He was rushed by the Vikings and clearly not a good starter but he's making a lot of progress and looked pretty darn good in his first two preseason games. We have taken a major step back in the quality of our QB depth this year. In fact, I'd argue it is worse then the year we had Caleb Hanie as our primary back-up. If Cutler goes down for an extended period of time, McCown probably isn't good enough to win us a few games and he certainly hasn't looked good this preseason. He's a good 3rd string QB and a bad back-up. And our 3rd stringer really isn't at all prepared to be out on the field and lets be honest, there is a very small chance that he ever amounts to anything worth a damn. The upside potential in him is nominal and I think its a big mistake this team is making in not having a quality backup who would be capable to help this team win one or two games if Jay were to go down for 5 or 6 games. I say that because if you go 2-4 with your backup over a 6 game span, you probably still have a shot at making the playoffs if you are good. Going 1-5 you are out and my guess is, depending on the level of teams we'd have, the upside with McCown would be 2 games, likelihood would be 1, and unless you were lined up against the 3 worse teams in the league in that 6 game stretch, you aren't going .500.
-
Edwards would be a much better back-up. To be frank, he'd be better then McCown who hasn't really looked very good in his 2 preseason games.
-
Remember guys, its preseason. Doesn't take much guts to step out of the box in the preseason. The proof is in the pudding and the lt results. Lots to be encouraged about yesterday but it was the preseason and it was against a really terrible team.
-
He has to work on technique but holy cripes are the tools there. Dude was a freakin stud last night and It was amazing to see. I look forward to seeing him grow and pancake the shit out of people. I hope he turns into a perennial all pro!!!

3 of the 5 throws to Marshall were on designed plays. You had a quick slant where you went to Marshall...a one on one in the red zone and then a designed screen play for Marshall. The other throw he was pretty open in the middle and the 5th I'd give you was a force (but Marsh was opened). Hard to say a guy isn't spreading it around when he makes 5 throws.
