  1. I always look at it as did you address the needs? To me this filled the two biggest needs and allows you to go BPA in the draft (which is huge). Albeit, I expect LB/Guard in the first two rounds. I'd get pretty stoked if the top guard is on the board at 20. If he is...draft him and I'll be even happier. A good young guard to go with a good (not great) LT which also makes the RT spot better (with Webb sliding over) would be huge, imo.
  2. Updated title and merged the two threads. While I liked another LT more, I really can't complain. Kramer is comfortable with him and knows him and obviously believes he can protect and do a good job. This also allows our RT spot to get significantly better (I think Webb over their is a huge huge upgrade over the pile of feces Carimi was). Carimi can now compete at guard or prove/earn a job at the tackle spot. Bears now can look at guard in the draft (possibly) or can move on to linebacker / best player available in the 1st round (which is quite nice). Can't argue that the Bears just filled 2 of their biggest needs (TE & Oline help) via free agency. I'm sure this was a very expensive signing.
  3. All things considered, he's an upgrade. Webb at RT is a major upgrade over Carimi (the two of them can battle out).

  5. Any idea what the $ are? This is a good move. Good all around tight end and a major upgrade over Davis.
  6. Give me the LT and let Webb/Carimi compete for RT.

    WHY????

Probably because he doesn't get paid much and he's still one of the best TE's on our roster so until they upgrade they won't just dump him. Just a guess. And the best tight end on this roster is like being the best garbage in the trash can.
  8. What does that mean for Cambell's price tag. He's got to be priced out of the Bears backup job, correct?
  9. He was cheap and solid in nickel coverage by and large. I agree with you, seems like an unnecessary move this early in the off-season.
  10. Tavon is a first round pick. Probably somewhere between 15 & 25.
  11. Cutler has worked with Rodgers a bit and that is what led to Cutler/Aaron being pretty good friends. I think he'd love to come to the Bears but Bears won't draft him (he's way more likely to be a UDFA).
  12. Baltimore's defense wasn't as good as the Bears D this year. The Niners have the best D in the league (right with the Bears). Point being, our defense is legit. Why the hell would we want to screw with it.
  13. Did you see what happened to the Packers defense most of the year? Just cause you have a 3-4 d doesn't mean you are good or that it is better then what the Bears are running. Proof is in the pudding and the Bears track record under the 4-3 cover 2 is pretty damn good.
  14. There are plenty of people similar sizes that suck. It has nothing to do with anything. Actual skills related to the heights are what is important, speed, hands, agility, etc.
  15. You lost me. The only person who can defend Davis is someone in his family.
  16. The Packers oline is brutal. One of the worse in the league. The line is almost as bad as the Bears oline. Rodgers is hit as much (if not more) then Cutler.
  17. So Marinelli had a top 5 defensive unit in points in 2 out of his 3 years. That is pretty damn good. And excluding Babich's years you had a top 5 unit in 4 out of 6 years (including the #1 ranked unit one year). Like I said, Babich was a total failure and i blame Lovie for that.
  18. This unit has been a top defensive unit for years. It was under Lovie's tenure, soured under Babich, and was once again an elite defense under Marinelli. Rod is one of the most respected defensive coaches in the game. I know that you hate the Cover 2 but last I saw the 3-4 was torched by the Niners (vs. Packers). The fact of the matter is the Bears defense has worked and it has worked incredibly well. Not only that, I've seen young members of the defensive line take steps forward under Marinelli (Wooten, Melton, etc). You hear what ex players have to say about Rod and that says a lot. Not only that, but he's a leader and a voice that our players relate to and our comfortable with. They might find a great new guy to be the DC, but when you have one of the top units in the league (and this past year the defense played at an absolutely elite level) you damn well aught to be concerned when you lose the coaches which led that unit. Especially when you have an aging unit with a lot of talent still on it. Makes zero sense to change schemes at this point in time. Not when you were a 10 win team that underachived. That is a team with superbowl potential and it makes zero sense to risk what could now be an overhaul to the defensive side of the ball. I also think it is very clear that trestman doesn't have the relationships with defensive guys (now I do think if I were a top defensive assistant I'd want this job cause of the talent) but this is a major major blow.
  19. Dude hasn't even watched film on the Bears. What the hell else did he have to do?
  20. I won't lie...I'd have preferred that.
  21. This hurts a lot. Takes the wind out of the sails from the hire (which was a questionable one). If you have Marinelli stay on, I'm okay with it, losing him is a huge huge issue.
  22. Wow...didn't see that one coming.
  23. Since Kromer became the Saints OL coach they have ranked 4th, 5th, 2nd, 3rd in sacks allowed.
  24. Keep Marinelli and they should be in good shape. They loved Lovie but they also love Rod. Love who we brought in as OC/Oline coach. Since Kromer became the Saints OL coach they have ranked 4th, 5th, 2nd, 3rd in sacks allowed.
