I actually think part of the plan was to get Bmarsh some action as I don't think the coaches want to show too much. Plus other then the one pick, which was a bad throw, Marshall was pretty darn open.
When you have Marshall one on one in the red zone you go to that play every time with the back shoulder throw. That is one of the highest percentages plays in our offense in that situation. That was perfect.
He actually was open but Cutler waited too long and put the ball in an awful spot. He had to go earlier and over the top (the help from the safety was too far away). Really bad pick.
For those of you who were concerned there wasn't going to be a competition. Webb was demoted after his poor performance in training camp and the preseason opener.

I was probably most impressed with one thing from this game...Cutler manning up and saying he should have put the ball on the back shoulder (on the pick to Jeffrey). For all of Cutler's pro's, his biggest inability in my opinion has been his overall leadership qualities and the fact that historically it is everyone but his own fault.
Maybe I'm crazy but I felt like in the post-game this was one of the first times he's taken full responsibility for his actions. I also heard an interview from Forte on NFL network earlier this week where he commented that Cutler is a lot more mature this training camp (said it must be the fact that he's married and had a kid). A more mature Cutler would be the best thing to happen to this franchise. He still has all of that skill and plenty of time to win a superbowl or two (or three!).
All things considered no major injuries and some of our young players stepped up.
Just let them be healthy. I won't even make any judgement until the 3rd preseason game and even then, knowing this is a brand new system, those judgements will be minimal. I will say this...if we stink (like win 4 games bad)...I want both Emery and Trestman fired.
Bowman is a perfectly competent nickle back, imo. The problem is, if one of Tillman/Jennings go down, Frey is the other starting corner so we will be hurting (unless he steps up and shows he can start...which would be sweet).
Another thing that would be huge would be Hardin developing. I haven't heard hide nor hare about him which probably means he isn't playing all that great.
They have officially ruled him out and indicated it was a concussion. My guess is he misses at least a week, if not two, but he should still play in a couple preseason games and be ready for the opener.
Reportedly needs surgery on his hamstring. Given our lack of depth at the CB position, this is a big blow. On the bright side, Frey apparently has been having a great training camp.

Hopefully DJ is okay. Even if Bostic steps up and takes the starting job (which would be great if he earns it), DJ is fully capable of playing on the outside and provides the Bears with a lot of depth.
This staff has no allegiance to Webb. If Webb doesn't earn the job, he won't play. And I'm not about to complain after a few days of training camp. My main concern is a healthy camp and the offense coming together.
I'm also irritated at how stupid we were with Idonjie. We are pretty thin on the line and Israel is a good type of guy to have from a depth perspective. Now we are stuck hoping that everyone stays healthy and that Paea and Shea take big steps forward. Our line is thin.
