And 1st down Arizona, LOLZ. At least the Oline and offense looked better in 2 drives.....freak me...11 straight completions and a TD. At least I got Fitzgerald on my fantasy team.
-
Time to see how the D responds to Lovie's speach.
-
LOvie lecturing the D on the sideline. That 10 yard loss killed our offense. Cutler is so good. Wish he had some receivers that really knew how to ran routes and help him out when he scrambles. Its the little thing that our WR's don't do that well (they are young so hopefully they'll learn to).

freak YES...Beautiful
-
Thats why we got Jay Cutler. I want moreo f that in our playbook. Beautiful.
-
I can't say this, but I have to. We are toast. Our D is going to get torched with Hunter out. They can't get in positions without him on the field and roaming the middle.
-
freak you Tommie..get lost you asshole.
-
Our Dline is looking like its getting some early push. freak me, Tommie Harris messes up big time. We give up a huge 3rd and 10 and than a big run by Hightower and a dumbass personal foul.
-
It took a bit, but I figured it out. Season Ticket Holder.

If you are a team that relies on speed, you want the grass as short as possible. If you aren't a speed team, than you want it longer cause it evens the playing field.

If Lovie really believes this he should be fired.

Whoa, getting paid is the first priority, but 99% of them give a shit about winning too. -
Game is on in my area too. So far the Bears have lost the Sunday Night Games (ie, games at my house) but have won the ones I've been to in person and most of the ones i've watched at the bar (with the exception of the Bengals game). Still, a game at home means I get to watch it on the 65 incher in full HD.

Listen, 99% of players in this league want to win. They want paychecks but they want to win and they know it takes hard work. So I don't think the awe shucks attitude is the reason why. -

If everything about the Bears reaks of "soft" than why do we consistently here about how the Bears are one of the more physical teams in the league (and from players around the league). I remember hearing Chad Johnson elude to it and it gets referred to as often. I realize the popular thing to do is get on Smith because of how he isn't vocal to the media, but aside from the Cincy game he gets his guys to show-up. I've had my issues with the intensity out of some of our defensive stars after the Super Bowl season, but I've just came to the reality that those defensive "stars" aren't stars. However, the Bears always come out to play (with one exception in the last few years). Mistakes happen, its a part of football. Are people calling for Fassel's head (Giants Head Coach) after they got embarassed by the Eagles? No Were people calling for Bellichecks head when the Bills annihilated him in an opening day win against the Patriots (he went on to win the super bowl that year)? No Bottom line is, blow-outs happen sometimes in the NFL. By and large though, this team has pretty much always met my expectations and than some under Lovie as opposed to the other way around and to me that is a sign of a quality head coach. -

You talk about it being a few seasons, but really there were two seasons where Babich's defense struggled and after the 2nd season he was demoted. I expect we will see Turner gone at the end of this year. Lovie has won a lot of games for the Bears in his era and there was a reason he got a fat contract to be our coach (if he didn't, he'd have been given a lot of green by the Cowboys the next season). And Lovie is still very very well respected around the NFL. I'm not saying I wouldn't get rid of Lovie, but there aren't a lot of guys (aside from the obvious choices of Cowher/Shanny) who I'd take ahead of Lovie. He is really the exact persona of what you need from a head coach. Mild mannered at times, but stern enough in meetings and the clubhouse to make sure his players are held accountable and from what I've read from players there has been a whole lot of accountability going around the lockeroom and in meetings with Lovie where he spotlights what guys are doing wrong, etc. At the same time, he has a team with no oline and an aging, injured defense that lost its play-caller and quite frankly didn't have the personell in place to replace him. After two games, he got a guy back (Hill) who could adjust a bit and the defense was better (albeit against the Browns). Lovie has done a lot with a pretty weak defensive group. We've also seen strides from our young safeties (Manning/Alfava) and our young corner is looking better (Bowman) and I think some of that credit should go to Lovie but also to him for bringing in a new secondary coach that is doing some good things. I'm sick of reading everyone here act like Smith is a retard. If we fire him, he's going to get hired elsewhere, and unless we make a great hire, its going to bite the Bears in the ass. -

I really don't see how anyone could complain about what Smith did in his first few years here, leading up to getting us into the Super Bowl. I realize a lot of people got on him for what happened with Rivera, but Lovie admitted that mistake and has taken over and is doing a lot with very little on the defensive side of the ball. Bottom line, I think we all forget all of the good that has happened while Lovie was in Chicago. He built us into a team and fan base that expects to win (we didn't expect to win for a long time in Chicago....basically since Ditka left its been bad). The defense was restored to order with Lovie, we were the talk of the league for a couple years and are still widely respected and have a coach who is widely respected around the NFL. -

Lovie believes in a united front with the media. That doesn't mean thats how he acts behind closed doors and ultimately its those actions that matter. Given how widely respected Lovie is around the league, I think a lot of people here have gotten really ridiculous. By all means, I support the notion of moving him and think some of whats happened this year warrants it, but at the same time, he does a lot of very good things as a head coach and that even temper is something that will allow him to have a long-term career as an NFL coach. -
The Bears are going to have to pick up one big time FA Olineman on the market, potentially a 2nd quality one as well as spend picks in the draft this year and next year (and again in the future) if they have any remote shot at having a decent oline. The next question is whether at some point we see Beekman play at center to get an idea of whether he's starting material at that position (since Kreutz is aging).

DABEARSDABOMB replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
Guys, I realize the hip thing to do is to rip on Lovie, but Rick Morrissey is a pompous jackass that makes Marrioti look like a great writer. I understand the grief over the Bears, but I'd like to hear why people are upset that our defense isn't playing stellar because I'd flat out point out that we have very little talent this year on the defensive side of the football. Now maybe that is reason enough to fire lovie and Angelo or maybe its just the reality of what happens when a defense ages and now needs a bit of a rebuilding. Bottom line, this defense doesn't have the talent to be a top 10 defense and probably doesn't even have the talent to be a top 15 one, so I can't really say that Lovie is doing a terrible job given what he has to work with on the defensive side of the football. I think if people want to complain and make a change, it should be in regards to developmental issues or something along those lines that is going on, because as a whole, I think the defense (sans the Cinncy game) has truly outperformed its talent levels and that in itself is a credit to the coordinator (or in this case Lovie). And while his quotes are what they are, I'd be hard pressed to fire a guy based upon the quotes he makes to the media. Ultimately I care about what he tells the players and that he holds guys accountable (and we can debate whether he does that or doesn't) but I honestly think this Smith is the worse thing ever speal gets really old. -
We don't have a #1 Wr on the roster or anyone really with the tools to be that. We can hope we add one, problem is that ranks much lower on the list than other stuff. The WR's have been better than expected but they do have trouble getting open a decent chunk of the time (don't know if thats the play-calling, the route-running or what).
-
We can't keep letting our franchise QB taking a beating though. Hits add up. I got to admit, the guy has some big freakin stones and he's definitely stood in and made some great passes under pressure. But as we know, when you get hit and hit and hit, turnovers are going to happen too.

I think this is a new organization post-Cutler and if the GM thinks they need a new coach, the team will get a new coach. They need to handle it that way at least. In the grand scheme of thing, what is a wasted $10-12M for the coach when your one of the most popular franchises in America, one who has a QB that could not only be the face of the franchise but one of the faces of the NFL (if the Bears succeed). This is it for Lovie.

He's played through a hell of a lot and I can't even imagine what it was like to go through all that. Tillman really is a hell of a man and I hope his daughter continues to get better and I commend Tillman for trying to push to make this technology available.

Don't just win, win big. Make us forget about last week Chicago Bears!!!
