  1. These may be famous last words, but of all the top defensive players, there really isn't a guy that is on the list of possible Bears picks at 8, who I really strongly don't want to draft. This is unique to most years where there are always a few guys that I want to stay away from (or possible positions, etc). Probably famous last words but about the only move that would irritate me is if we drafted wideout at 8 or reached on some ILB who wasn't one of the top 4 or 5 names we've already discussed here on the board.
  2. Official Day 1 Thread. Draft day...let this be a draft that we look back on that brought tremendous value to the franchise!
  3. I presume if we are in on Davenport, we might be trading down. I think Gabriel had mentioned something in the last day that he was predicting Bears would move down. Of course, it takes two to tango.
  4. Adding on to this, Davenport certainly fits the Pace draft pick profile. High upside potential, very good athlete. Downside is he is clearly a raw player from a smaller school. Has the ability to turn into a force and I think Pace trusts the defensive coaching staff that we have to do that.
  5. Biggs reporting that the Bears secretly met with Davenport. Had Davenport not said anything to an "unidentified Chicago reporter," no one would know this. Interesting to note since we had a secret meeting with Trubisky a year ago.
  6. NYC - You really are an excellent poster; As always agree with your overall analysis.
  7. Awesome - Glad everything is working again. If you run into an issue, email me at Bullsback@gmail.com!
  8. As a heads up, probably about a week out from getting Bears colors back on the site. Additionally, I've figured out how to get the whose online (more similar to what the old forums had) down on the bottom (believe someone had requested that). Would people like to have a twitter off on the right side. Or some sort of news feed (when you access the main page)? Want to get perspectives what people would find helpful / beneficial. Note: The twitter functionality would purely be for desktop / tablet viewers (not on phones). Presume everyone has learned by now, but if you want to embed a video or tweet, you just copy and paste the link into the post and wait about a second and it will automatically format the tweet/video. Additionally, if you have an image or something else, you can drag and drop within the post. The platform is extremely user friendly and powerful.
  9. Nelson, Long, and Whitehair would be a pretty strong interior oline. Leno isn't that bad on the outside and even Massie is okay (but not great). I just hope Long can get back to being that pro bowl player (both in performance but also) who can stay on the field. Would be great if he gets the injuries behind him and has a couple strong years!
  10. Welcome aboard - I'm with you on how Trubisky held himself. He also is such a good athlete. I hope he stays healthy and we get to see him really grow and shine as a Bear. Would be great to finally have a great QB!!! I wish the season was here already. While I still think we are a year away, I'm very excited to see what the next year brings. I expect some early bumps and a strong finish. And oh man, I still remember when we had a chance to knock the Packers out and make the playoffs and we let Nelson catch that deep pass within the final minute or so of the game (think Conte was our safety).
  11. I need to get this back on my list to set back up. By the way, glad your login works now. Welcome aboard!
  12. For anyone who might be browsing the site and recently tried to join, I became aware of an issue that was preventing new members from registration. Such issue has been rectified, however, if you are a new member and are running into issues, please email me at Bullsback@gmail.com Additionally, if you are a returning member who might have misplaced your password, please put in the forgot password notice in the sign on sheet and we can resolve (or email me). Please note if you email me, your registered email will have to match the email you send me. Apologies for the glitch!
  13. That seems very realistic and would work just fine for me.
  14. Definitely a lot of excitement and it sounds like Trubisky is putting in the work, which is great to see. Kid seems to have the right attitude, hopefully everything lines up and we continue to see growth and eventually he truly becomes that franchise QB we haven't had.
  15. If we draft Landry, who I am okay with taking, I think we have to draft him after a trade down. I just don't see the value at 8. Basically you are betting on the fact that something was going on which mitigated his success and we ultimately expect him more to be the guy he was a season ago (when he would have been a sure fire top 10 pick). Having not followed him closely, for those proposing drafting him on the earlier side, what is the rationale for the step back in his play? I didn't get the feel (from what I've read) that it was because of too many double-teams, etc, but maybe that played in a fact. Most of the stuff I read just said he was less explosive, his motor was down, etc.
  16. Agree with that. Don't see the need to draft 2 OLB's. Would prefer any developmental guy being brought in more as a UDFA. We have too few draft picks to invest two at OLB (unless they can also shift inside).
  17. The problem with Key is, if his character gets in the way, it could effect the rest of the team. So not only do you have the risk that the guy will just be a huge bust and get suspended a bunch / not play, he might also be just a bad role model to have around other players. I'd stay away in round 2...while the upside is there, possibility that we just "threw" the pick away is also high, imo. Especially since his past attempts to get himself right have failed. Adding in the pressure of the market, etc, and probability to get it right again seems low. Now if we are able to accumulate a few more draft picks, than I'd be open to taking a flyer or two like this (or an Orlando Brown) because you are ultimately better hedged. We don't have enough picks to just blindly throw darts at some high upside guys who have massive downsides.
  18. Floyd is absolutely a long-term solution, however, I think to have a dominant defense you want two dominant rushers and that could come with 2 dominant OLB's or you can have an edge rusher in the 3-4. To me, adding a real high quality OLB who can attack the QB and go all over the field would be tremendous for this defense. Real impact player. If we were to draw out htis draft, I would say my ideal position to land would be a stud pass rusher followed by a stud LT. There isn't a stud LT in the draft (at least based upon current draft position), however, there could be some pretty good OLB's. Chubb is a guy I love...even if he isn't the "perfect" fit. Not only tremendous athlete / football player, but from the little I've seen of him on the ESPN show that is following him, seems to have good character. I think its highly possible that our draft goes OLB / ILB in the 1st two drafts. I could also see us moving down in the 2nd round, accumulating picks, and taking a wideout. I quietly wonder if we will take Fitzpatick. Have heard so little about "DB's" it makes me wonder if that is actually where we will go in the draft.
  19. Howard has always responded well to "doubters" and with everyone "doubting" his pass catching ability, I expect to see a more complete Howard next year. That will be scary for the league. The only thing I could see getting in the way of Howard having a monster season is injuries (always possible in the NFL).
  20. I’m very disappointed. This was mismanaged. Meredith has a chance to be a good receiver and we aren’t going to get to make that evaluation. Thought the same thing with Jeffrey a year ago and the whole Gould fiasco.
  21. Its interesting some of the pieces coming out of the trib have been kind of vague on Meredith. I wonder if those are leaks by Bears front office to start prepping people for the inevitable loss of Meredith. I think it would be a massive mistake, mainly because I like Cam and see no downside to guaranteeing him $5M this year (to invest in having him locked up next year at a reasonable rate). If he struggles to get back, he's gone and he really hasn't gotten in anyone's way. I don't see us investing at wideout early this year (given the money spent on Robinson) and I can't imagine you want to just hand the keys over to some 4th round pick, but maybe they want to go that route and see Meredith "getting in the way".
  22. In general though, having meredith locked up for two years is nice. Gives more time to evaluate him post injury. I think he’s going to be a good one.
