15 minutes from the start of the 2nd round...will be interesting to see what happens. Lots of talent sitting out there.

So I have been hyping Landry, but there have been some reports that he's got some injury flags. He had an ankle injury in season but I guess some reports indicating concerns over his knee / back. If there is any truth to that, we could see Landry have a pretty big slide. I agree with you though, if we moved down, I wouldn't do it quite yet (would have to wait to see how the 2nd round is trending) and when I move back I wouldn't want to go too far (mainly because I see a big drop-off between the early 2nd round and later in the 2nd round (based upon how draft has been moving).

Floyd is not a pure edge rusher. Floyd is also a strong coverage linebacker, etc. He's a complete linebacker who also gets the pass rusher. On the opposite side you'd want someone a little more specialized. The nice thing is, Smith is also a very complete lb'er..can cover and generate a pass rush from the inside. While Carter is more raw, he too would be able to do those things. Landry, on the other hand, would be more of the pure pass rushing type, at least early on, as he struggled with coverage. Landry's stats were down, but he was playing with a bum ankle and had zero talent around him. He was the most double-teamed / schemed defensive linemen in the country and while his sacks and production were down, its hard to discount those points and the fact that he has a very quick first step and to be frank, likely learned a lot from this past year where he received all that attention (which could help him in the future). Landry could very well be one of those guys where everyone looks back a couple years from now and says, man, we really should have discounted that second season with his bum ankle and looked more at what he did when he was healthy (if he repeated what he did a year ago, he' s likely taken ahead of Bradley Chubb).

I am 100% with you on his interviews and character. He impressed me a lot. I always root for our draft picks but he seems like an easy guy to root for and I can easily see him being a leader on the next great defense. Would love to get Lorenzo Carter to join the defensive unit as well. Less production but man he's just a physical specimen and I truly believe in our coaching. Give Fangio Carter and Smith to go with Floyd, Hicks, Goldman, Eddie Jackson, etc and I could see the long term potential for a great d (with the only major knock being playmaking in the secondary). Than turn the attention to seeing if we can get HH a piece or two late that he can work on molding. While I might regret this comment, the more I think about it, the happier I am we didn't get Nelson. I saw a stat and almost none of the guards on playoff teams were high-draft picks. Going back to the point that quality guards can absolutely developed. With tackles there is a difference. If we got Nelson it would have still been fine cause he'll be an outstanding football, but big picture when it comes to building a franchise its smarter to draft where the ultimately value is and I think we got better value with Smith.

I have to think it was Calvin Ridley. My gut is we had a pretty high grade on him, not worthy of going anywhere close to 8, but overall liked him a lot and would have liked to add him. I presume Landry is one of the first off the board, but I think the Bears would love to get him or Carter. If a pass rusher is there that they like, I think they go that way, otherwise they might move down and go oline or wideout. I think one of pass rusher, Oline, WR, DB (only because Jackson could just a be a stellar value pick on their big board)

Cutler has officially announced his retirement. He'll focus on his new reality show and I presume persue his career calling football games on Fox. I actually really look forward to hearing him call games. I think he's going to do a fantastic job. Was really bummed when he signed with Miami last year (right before he was going to call one of our preseason games).

Watch is draft his teammate and we will have 3 of our 4 lbs from Georgia. Sounds like he knew Floyd and got along with him.

Vikings picked up a major character risk. Very talented player but I will root for him to suck.

I read some quotes from him and man, loved what I heard. I wanted to trade Dow but I can’t argue the pick at all. Hope he is a total beast!

Rappaport reporting bears are trying to trade up into the back end of the first. So don’t turn the tv off just yet. Presume it would be for one of the guys I mentioned above.

If Jackson is on the clock, I think we take him. Otherwise I’m looking at Landry or Carter (if they are there). Daniels wouldn’t be a bad pick on the oline if we intend to move white hair to guard permanently.

By the way, Shaqueem Griffin is a guy I would be intrigued with getting. Great story, great athlete, great football player.

Some reports out there that Baker Mayfield expected to go #1 to the Browns. In addition, Josh Allen has a crisis going on related to tweets dating back from high-school (which just surfaced). Between Mayfield going at 1 and Allen having to do massive damage control...it could create for a big shift in the top of the draft vs. what most everyone was thinking.

These may be famous last words, but of all the top defensive players, there really isn't a guy that is on the list of possible Bears picks at 8, who I really strongly don't want to draft. This is unique to most years where there are always a few guys that I want to stay away from (or possible positions, etc). Probably famous last words but about the only move that would irritate me is if we drafted wideout at 8 or reached on some ILB who wasn't one of the top 4 or 5 names we've already discussed here on the board.

Official Day 1 Thread. Draft day...let this be a draft that we look back on that brought tremendous value to the franchise!

I presume if we are in on Davenport, we might be trading down. I think Gabriel had mentioned something in the last day that he was predicting Bears would move down. Of course, it takes two to tango.

Adding on to this, Davenport certainly fits the Pace draft pick profile. High upside potential, very good athlete. Downside is he is clearly a raw player from a smaller school. Has the ability to turn into a force and I think Pace trusts the defensive coaching staff that we have to do that.

Biggs reporting that the Bears secretly met with Davenport. Had Davenport not said anything to an "unidentified Chicago reporter," no one would know this. Interesting to note since we had a secret meeting with Trubisky a year ago.

As a heads up, probably about a week out from getting Bears colors back on the site. Additionally, I've figured out how to get the whose online (more similar to what the old forums had) down on the bottom (believe someone had requested that). Would people like to have a twitter off on the right side. Or some sort of news feed (when you access the main page)? Want to get perspectives what people would find helpful / beneficial. Note: The twitter functionality would purely be for desktop / tablet viewers (not on phones). Presume everyone has learned by now, but if you want to embed a video or tweet, you just copy and paste the link into the post and wait about a second and it will automatically format the tweet/video. Additionally, if you have an image or something else, you can drag and drop within the post. The platform is extremely user friendly and powerful.

Nelson, Long, and Whitehair would be a pretty strong interior oline. Leno isn't that bad on the outside and even Massie is okay (but not great). I just hope Long can get back to being that pro bowl player (both in performance but also) who can stay on the field. Would be great if he gets the injuries behind him and has a couple strong years!
