    Early Games

We needed MIN, CAR, and DAL to lose. Well DEN is up 3 against MIN, CAR is being shutout by ATL, and DAL is up by 10+ against DET. So CAR is definitely a loss, MIN can still lose, and it looks like DAL will win easily. Let's go Broncos! How about the epic QB matchup with Jackson and Watson? Jackson has 4 TDs and is borderline unstoppable. Watson? Not so much. Thru the mid-4th, he is 18-29 (62%), 169 yds, 1 INT, 6 sacks, 1 FL. Watch the media on Watson, they will point to a bad O-Line, etc, etc. Nothing like Trubisky gets when he has a game like this. The funny thing is, Watson has had several games with less than 200 yards passing and several multi-turnover games but was at one point in MVP talks.
  2. Yeah true, but you hate to lose a draft pick regardless of what round for nothing.
  3. This sucks. One of the loopholes to the Practice Squads. As long as players are signed to 53-man rosters, you can lose your PS players. We just lost Whyte. Surprised we didn't put Trevathan on IR immediately and brought Whyte up. He was a 7th Round Pick.

    Burton to IR

It must have to do with compensation, otherwise, it makes no sense to keep him on the 53-man roster.
  5. The whole time it played out it looked like Garrett said, "you want to take my helmet off, watch, this is how you do it", then keeps pulling at the facemask until it is off, which could've seriously injured Rudolph's neck. Then once he had the helmet, he was like "oh, you want your helmet back, here you go", then smack on the top of the head. That was a #1 in the NFL draft, in the last seconds of a game where your team is up by 2 TDs and your team just sacked the QB on the plays before this one.
  6. I agree with this as well. Odd that he didn't get anything other than a fine. Garrett just went waayyyyy overboard.
  7. Dude, the helmet is metal, and that neck cushion is more inside the helmet than on the bottom where the metal is the strongest. Look at this helmet, the edge of the helmet hit the top of his head. With enough force, that could've easily knocked him out.

    Burton to IR

Burton to IR, finally making some moves, a little late, but I guess late is better than never:
  9. Tony Dungy was on the "Under Center Podcast", which is a pretty good listen. He said that the 2nd year is always a tough year for a new coach as teams will have adjusted to your first year and would start to take away what you like to do. Nagy has been slow to adjust to that and players are underperforming. About Club Dub, a bunch of pro sports teams do a little celebration after wins, the Bears are one of a few teams that actually show it publicly. Maybe the best would be to keep it private going forward.
  10. I can't imagine Trevathan coming back this year, so it's odd that they haven't done it to free up a roster spot. If we somehow miraculously made the playoffs, I can't see how he would be back in 6 weeks from that injury.
  11. Montgomery might not play either with a sprained ankle in practice on Wednesday.
  12. Wow, what a crazy play. Suspended indefinitely. Rudolph is an idiot as well, but man, Garrett went way over the line with the helmet hit to the head.
  13. Mongo, I made your post into the game thread. If we can't get to Goff with multiple O-Line backups and with how shaky has he been, without Cooks, we are toast. I feel like they are going to use a bunch of screens and quick throws to Kupp (who was shutdown last week). Last year Goff threw 4 picks and was sacked 3 times. We will need a few turnovers and several sacks this week to have a chance. Hopefully, Trubisky can have a solid game against the Rams Defense who has a familiar face in Mathews on the edge. Mitch only threw for 110 yards and threw 3 INTs last year. Howard ran for over 100, so Montgomery needs to have a big game. I have a feeling we win this one by at least a TD, I am thinking something like 20-12 in a game of field position.
  14. For me it comes down to his health. If he is not near 100%, we are one injury away from being right back where we are. If healthy though, he is a top 10 QB.
  15. I agree, it's kind of mind-blowing that you didn't think it would be a good idea to bring all the QB's in for a private workout when you have the #3 pick, and that you didn't even meet with Watson at all. Pace's record stands on his own and I don't know why he is getting more time than Emery did when he has technically been a worse GM.
  16. So it looks like the league set up a tryout for Kaepernick on Saturday. Kind of odd, but the Bears need to send someone there just to kick the tires.
  17. Yeah, it was very long, but some eye-opening comments.
  18. A great article, a lot to digest. The Bears didn't bring in any QBs for private workouts. https://t.co/0UtH9OnYKG?amp=1
  19. I get that LB's traditionally have the most tackles, but when it's that much higher than half your defense, that's a problem. He also had more impact plays, so it was not just tackles. Mack isn't even being double-teamed very much and he still didn't make any plays. The Lions lost Wagner to injury and neither Mack nor Floyd could do much against a backup. That's not good. Floyd is a waste of a body on the field. I would bring someone else in like Vaughters instead. We didn't pay Mack all that money to just draw double teams. He is severely underproducing and that contract looks like an albatross now. Again, if you didn't know who he was and just watched the games this season, you would not know he is the highest-paid defensive player and supposed top 3 defensive player in the league. With Hicks and Trevathan out, we really need him to step up and be the disruptive force we have seen before. Right now Skrine has been our most consistent DB which is scary. Fuller has had a couple of nice plays but for the most part has been underwhelming. Our safety play has been ok, mainly because of HHCD. Jackson seems like he is struggling in this Pagano scheme (or playing not to get hurt). I am assuming the difference is last year they just put Amos in the box and let Jackson roam. This year he has different responsibilities and is struggling. There are two sides going forward. There is no way he will command top dollar if he keeps playing like this (last year will be considered a fluke), but at the same time, do you want him if this is who he is? Turnovers are very luck oriented. So time will tell, but just based on trends, he is going the wrong way.
  20. Mongo, There is no way you are going to know how a draft is going to play out. Draft boards are not created with players who the team feels will be there. If they did that, every draft board would be flawed with huge holes. There are few times where you can take a player off the board as a consensus #1 when you are picking #10. However, no one even knew if CLE would draft a QB or not. It comes down to the fact that Mahomes was their #1 QB and they got him. It was as easy as that. About trading up, they traded 2x firsts to move up. They were not even in a position to draft Mahomes with their original pick. They gave up what they could and did. To move up any further would've been a Hershel Walker type of trade that most teams just don't do anymore.
  21. Apparently they are a mirror image of each other: https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2019/11/10/nfl-rams-twitter-react-week-10-loss/ The only difference is the Rams just paid Goff a crap ton of money and the Bears can move on from Trubisky.
  22. Yeah, if you read some of the articles from the 2017's, KC brought in several QBs for this long session (6-8 hrs). It's funny because most of the articles mention Mahomes standing out and even Andy Reid mentioning Watson, but nothing Trubisky. Also, KC was locked in on Mahomes as their pick (if available) for months leading up to the draft. Check out these articles here: https://sports.yahoo.com/chiefs-finally-found-franchise-quarterback-patrick-mahomes-165452074.html https://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/vahe-gregorian/article224263285.html Most of the articles I have read stated that Nagy met with Trubisky a few times, in KC and in Indy before the draft. The team also did that with other QB prospects and liked Mahomes and Watson better. It doesn't matter now, can't undo history. Hopefully, the team can salvage something this year and make the right moves to be competitive next year. Unfortunately, we are teetering on implosion mainly because Pace drafted the wrong QB 3 years ago.
  23. I was talking about during the draft. KC had Mahomes as their #1 QB.
  24. Back to original topic: 1. Fix O-Line: Keep going with O-Line adjustments, we will need to see what we can do with Leno and/or Massie. Once these guys got paid, they got lazy. I like the Whitehair move back to Center and I think the line will get better as the season goes on with this combination. 2. Fix the TE position: This is absolutely broken. We need some playmakers. When JP Holtz is your best TE, you have a problem. We can't go into next season with Burton and Shaheen as our TEs. Shaheen will be cut as he was a healthy scratch today. So you have to figure out what to do with Burton and his ridiculous contract. I would not be opposed to cutting him and eating whatever salary cap you have to. 3. Do not bring Floyd back, and I would consider only bringing him in on obvious passing downs (3rd and longs) for the rest of the year. He gets manhandled by pretty much any offensive player blocking him. Every now and then his name is called when a QB holds the ball too long, but that's it. 4. Replace Special Teams Coach: there is no way we should have punts blocked as many times as we have. This has to be fixed. 5. Unless the Bears win 10 games and Trubisky is the reason they win some games, you have to bring in competition for him this offseason and draft one in 2020. The only way I would go with Trubisky is if he actually shows some progression in his development by the end of the year. I want him to carry this team when we need him to. Consistency would also be huge to see. 6. Play calling: If this anemic offense is due to play calling, you have to bring someone else up or in to takeover play calling. It's hard to assess this objectively with how bad some of the offense components have performed. 7. If you are looking to shake up the organization, you have to start with Pace. It's his roster construction and contracts. Obviously a new GM might want his own HC, so this would more than likely start a domino effect. However, I don't know how you move on from Nagy before moving on from Pace.
  25. Kwiatkoski comes in off the bench and leads the team in tackles (9), has the only turnover (1 INT), a sack, and a PD. Jackson? 2 tackles and 1 PD. Mack? 2 tackles. Floyd? 2 tackles. Nichols and Goldman, each with 1 tackle each. RRH? Zero stats. So Kwit had more total stats than Jackson, Mack, Floyd, Nichols, Goldman, and RRH COMBINED!!!! That is ridiculous. Now a few others played pretty good, Prince, Nick Williams, Skrine, HHCD, and even Smith. but we need our stars to step the "f" up. I assume Trevathan is gone for the year after that grotesque injury to his arm (What's up with all the elbow injuries on this team?), so it will be interesting to see how Kwit does as the starter for a longer period of time. He may be the guy we are looking to bring back at ILB next year, so let's see what he can do. So far, I don't know if you can play much better when asked to.
