  1. LB Coach or Quality Control? Would be sort of a logical move like Kevin Greene. His experience in the system would really benefit the new players. My only issue would be underlying resentment towards the front office. I am glad to see he went out on top and not bashing the team. He has earned back a lot of respect taking the high road. Additionally, I am glad this saga is over (for now). I just couldn't picture him in another team's jersey.
  2. It is funny how the internet takes you down rabbit holes. First I see this article about 3 Bears players playing for the same H.S. : http://www.chicagobears.com/news/article-1...03-85c5d4e82962 then I start reading up on Onobun, who at the time of his signing, didn't seem to draw much attention (rightfully so). However, looking at his Pro Day: this guy seems to have all the physical attributes to succeed, but only played football one year in college (and still was drafted in the 6th round), so he is still raw. With his ties to Bennett, could this guy develop into our #2 pass catching TE eventually?
  3. I don't know about that. I would assume that Urlacher thought he had leverage once Roach left for Oakland, and underestimated Emery's ability to pick up quality FA's on the cheap. I am sure he is kicking himself in the ass for not taking the original offer.
  4. I would hope so. Cutler, as well as the entire offense is going to be held accountable for their actions more than ever before.
  5. My hope is that some team is in dire need of an OL and will take a flyer on him hoping a change of scenery will help him. He was a former first rounder, so getting anything for him would be great considering his $2 million cap hit.
  6. Due to the low amount of attempts for Cutler, that 11% only equals 3 targets per game extra to Marshall over an entire season.
  7. 1. Bennett's production was almost exactly the same before Marshall arrived, and his per game averages have been very steady throughout his career. So throwing to him would give you his averages vs. Marshall's where Bennett's would have been worse. 2. No way, Davis had more targets than he ever had and showed his ceiling. Throwing to him any more than what they did would've been worse than the extra throws to Marshall. 3. This is true, but the other guys didn't step up enough to threaten the other team to prevent this. Also, throwing to Marshall less would not have necessarily reduced the number of double teams, especially if our guys were not making plays. They would continue to make someone else beat them. Which to me makes Marshall's numbers even that much more impressive. 4. Based on the reception percentages, throwing to anyone other than Marshall would've reduced Cutler's completion percentage. 5. Pure speculation. We would like to think this, but the numbers actually show the opposite. So only balanced teams are successful, or spreading the ball around just for the sake of averages is better than using your go to guy? Don't get me wrong, I thought he was targeted too much, but I didn't think it was as negative of a trend as the media made it out to be. We have enough data before Marshall arrived that showed what Bennett, Hester, and Davis were capable of. Knox and Roy freakin' Williams were the leading WR's in 2011. So if Bennett, Hester, and Davis couldn't break through that year, then I can't imagine that they ever will.
  8. So would the Bears have been better off throwing to someone else like Davis? No, so the amount or percentage of targets to Marshall isn't as bad as it seems. To a degree the amount of targets were justified.
  9. I am getting sick of the media mentioning how many targets Marshall had last year, and how Cutler was zeroing in on him compared to other QB's. So what about Stafford to Johnson or Luck to Wayne, who had as many targets as Marshall? I rarely hear those two QB's mentioned. Andre Johnson, AJ Green, Larry Fitzgerald, Stevie Johnson, and Victor Cruz all had a high percentage of their teams targets, yet none of them seem to have the negative stigma put on them about being targeted too much. An interesting note is that Marshall led the league in targets in 2007 and 2008, yet I don't remember stories about him being targeted too much by Cutler back then. To me, I could care less about how many times he was targeted if it resulted in a catch, which it did. Compare that to targets of Davis who seemed to drop or tip more to the other team than catch the ball. Also, if Marshall is the first option, and he is open, why would you not pass it to him?
  10. Great news, and some relief of no extended or useless holdout.
  11. In one of the videos on the Bears website, Forte was being interviewed and was asked about Carimi not being there. He said he thought that he should've been there as there was so much to learn (new blocking schemes) and it was a great time to mingle with the new players. Like some others have said, you don't miss OTA's as a player already on the bubble with a new coaching staff. He is either asking to be cut so he can find a new job or they are working a trade.
  12. Not football related, but I have used, against my better judgment, Come Honor Face.
  13. Yeah, I was even shocked to see 2x LBs and 2x OLs taken in the first 4 picks. It showed the team's true priorities/needs.
  14. better than Kelly Clarkson
  15. I don't think the positions on the line are set or in stone at this point.
  16. Good for him, those are some great events to support.
  17. Based on Trestman's past offenses, and Kromer's, there was very little production from the #2 TE, and with signing Bennett to a fairly large contract, it is hard for me to see a TE in the 1st or 2nd round. For a Nickelback, again, that is technically not a starter, is normally the 3rd best Corner on the team, and can go long stretches without playing. With that, the only justification I could see for taking a CB in the 1st is that it would give the Bears some payroll flexibility after this season (and maybe some leverage with Tillman/Jennings). Floyd seemed like BPA, so I could see that pick with a minor need for the DT rotation. So for me it came down to LB and OL, and I have to believe the Bears believed in Long more than Ogletree.
  18. I know, that is where Yahoo has him listed.
  19. To me, a slot WR or 2nd TE would end up being the 4th or 5th passing option on almost every play: (Marshall, Forte, M. Bennett, Jeffery). Also, at Nickelback, we have Hayden, McManis, and Bowman as options, so adding Trufant would give some nice flexibility after the season, but that was my last option. 2nd TE was not even considered for me.
  20. Just realized that I need to figure out who my keeper will be for the upcoming season. Decisions, decisions. Here are my options and draft results from last year. To me it looks like my options are SF for a 6th, Flacco for an 11th, or Amendola for a 16th. Hernandez was my Keeper last year. I am leaning towards Amendola as he seems to have the most value at that slot. 2. Adrian Peterson (Min - RB) 3. Victor Cruz (NYG - WR) 4. Michael Turner (Atl - RB) 5. Reggie Bush (Det - RB) 6. Dwayne Bowe (KC - WR) 7. San Francisco (SF - DEF) 8. Pierre Garcon (Was - WR) 9. Shonn Greene (Ten - RB) 10. Nate Washington (Ten - WR) 11. Peyton Hillis (KC - RB) 12. Joe Flacco (Bal - QB) 13. Stephen Gostkowski (NE - K) 14. Jared Cook (StL - TE) 15. New England (NE - DEF) 16. Aaron Hernandez (NE - TE) *K* 17. Danny Amendola (NE - WR)
