  1. Awesome, thanks. I believe Kromer was designated as the OC and OLine coach, so RB's coach and or Running Game Coordinator would make sense. Now we just need some intel on the DC. Hoke?
  2. I would say it got mixed reviews due to the relative comparisons to other teams. Basically saying all the other shitty teams would kill for a 10-6 record. However, I have seen a bunch of NFL experts applauding the hire saying it was a great move. Chip Kelly is just a bigger name due to what he did at Oregon, not that he was a better hire. Reid was in KC before Kelly was in Philly. There are still 2 positions left I believe (Arizona and Jax) and neither has interviewed Lovie from what I have read. So to me, it does speak volumes about how valuable he is. If he was that good of a HC, he would've been in high demand and had another HC job already. Hey Lovie, I believe there is a vacancy in Montreal, but be careful, those are some big shoes to fill.
  3. We are going from Lovie and Tice to Trestman and Kromer. Trestman alone is a better offensive mind than Lovie and Tice combined. Then you throw Kromer in there and the offense becomes a team strength. The 2002 Raiders are a great snapshot of this. They were the #2 scoring offense in the league. Gannon threw for 4,689 with 26 TDs and 10 INTs. The leading rusher was Charlie Garner who also caught 91 passes for 941 yards (91 receptions by the RB - wow), and the leading WR's were Jerry Rice (92-1211) and Tim Brown (81-930). I would say Cutler is at least comparable to Gannon, if not more physically gifted at this point is his career. Forte is much better than Garner was at the time. For the WR's, Rice was 40 at the time, so it is hard to not say Marshall is not better than him now than at that point in his career. Brown too was getting up there at 38. Jeffery is nowhere near Brown in terms of experience, but we saw flashes that leads me to believe with the right coaches and schemes, he could have a monster year. The 3rd best WR was Porter who had 51-688. I could see someone like Bennett replicating that. For TE's, they had Jolley and Williams combine for 59-622. Pretty decent production for those two players who were not very good. Now we just need a real TE and we will be good.
  4. He also was on the Rams staff with Fisher before the ban.

18 games, but another way to look at it is by the team's pass attempts. Sacks went from 1 per every 10 pass attempts down to 1 every 26 pass attempts.
  6. This seemed almost inevitable.
  7. No Kool-Aid, I just felt that Tice and the scheme was holding the Bears offense back more so than the actual players. We will get the O-Line help via FA and draft. I believe Jeffery is that 2nd WR. Just think, we are going to actually have players in positions that maximize the matchups. There will be an actual game plan on offense.
  8. Damage control now, but man he is looking extremely guilty. He just needs to go on Oprah to confess.
  9. Yeah, this is great. Trestman+Kromer+DeCamillis >>>>>>> Lovie+Tice+Toub Toub was the only one holding his own, but DeCamillis has been doing ST for a long time as well.
  10. It is being reported that this was a hoax against Te'o. Either way this is crazy. Someone should be locked up for it, either in jail or the loony bin.
  11. This is an insanely awesome hire, wow. Kromer and Trestman were both on the Oakland staff from 2001-2003. Didn't even realize the connection at first. Our offense just become lethal.
  12. Emery is tied to this hire, so his job is on the line if Trestman struggles to produce better results than Lovie did. and thanks again Brian for the insider info, spot on again.

That is assuming he is going to implement the same offense here, which is unlikely due to the size of the field, the number of players, and number of downs. It seems that he just adapted to what worked in that league.
  14. Looks like he is heading to KC to be reunited with Reid. To me this also signals that they may already have a new HC selected.
  15. I would say every candidate has their pro's and con's. In the same breath you could say Arians and Trestman are the only 2 with HC experience, and Arians and Bevell are the only 2 with recent NFL experience. Trestman is the only one to have worked personally with Cutler, and that Bevell and Arians are both former QB's who can speak from experience at the position. To me, all the candidates are fairly even and any of them will be an upgrade from Lovie.

I have to agree 1000%. Just look at Urlacher's sack totals, not completely related to scheme, but a big part. The defense became so predictable, and I know everyone despised the late game "protect the lead prevent" that just prevented us from winning. Lovie even preached that "we are not going to do any special" and "we are just going to line up and make you beat us". To me that is almost a stubborn approach. Why not play into the strengths of your players within a scheme and exploit the opponents weaknesses?
  17. You know, this may come down to who their Coordinator choices are, especially on Offense.
  18. So far Trestman is in the lead, followed by Arians and McCoy. With the announcement of the final 3, we have a good shot of getting this right.

Just can't see that with the money already tied up in Marshall and Bennett as well as the limited salary cap after we re-sign current players and possibly OL via FA.

https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/291007364251910144 So Trestman, Bevell, and Arians are the finalists. I would be ok with any of them.

An interesting perspective from a Montreal season ticket holder on Trestman: http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2013/1/14...louettes-season

Yeah, I would trust your source more than 3rd or 4th hand info on the internet. The one fact we can conclude is it will be a current OC or Trestman. To me, I thought it was odd of Trestman to interview for an OC position if he had any indication that he was under strong consideration for our HC position. To me it seems like he was told something on the contrary.
