  1. From the info we have so far...that doesn't sound right at all. If he said no to getting on the cops boat...then the conflict or arrest or whatever, would have happened on Ceds boat. I haven't heard that from anywhere. He did indeed get on the cops boat and the situation escalated sometime after that....
  2. QFT. Exactly what I thought when I heard JA's comments.
  3. Whatever you guys decide I'm ok with, but I cuss all the time. I just cuss when I type...the words just pop into my train of thought...sometimes for emphasis... sometimes for humor. I can't remember ever cussing with regards to another poster....but it's all good. If you want to turn my flub into duck...then by all means...go for it... I don't think cussing moves from situational to personal...and if it did....those people are ignorant and were gonna get personal anyway. To me it's all about respect. Respect your fellow posters. Pretend you are talking to them face to face instead of behind your keyboard and you will be respectful. If while face to face, someone throws an idea your way and you think it's ridiuclous, you would explain why you thought so in a courteous manner, but on a message board a number of people are just like...lets call the guy out and make him look like an ass.... That's the most moronic thing I ever heard of...what idiot would think that etc etc etc... Respect is what's its all about... hahaha...or turn into flub....that's cool too
  4. Anyone who knows me or reads my posts...knows he was going to be on my list. IMO he is exactly what this team needs. It was a who do you want to start list, not who is going to start. Realistically, I think Booker will start with Bradley. Hass will do everything he is asked in camp...run crisp routes, catch everything thrown to him, continue to know every position, give the QB(whoever it may be) the confidence they desperately need and then........he will get cut. People here will throw their arms up and rejoice that they don't have to listen to me bitch about him not getting a shot anymore.

  6. It's right in the article...it was in the Trib this morning. Dam, sorry I forgot the lin inoriginal post. It's there now. May I also say...I don't like at all how that article is written. It seems to paint Benson as being wrong right off the bat for even being there. Which is BS. Then it throws out some statistics on how many whites are arrested vs blacks...well wtf how many boaters are black out there? Could those stats be leaning that way cause most of the boaters out there are white??? I mean I don't know....it just seemed like a useless point to make.
  7. The scene at Cedric Benson's arrest Safety inspections, sobriety checks common on 'the party cove,' where Bears RB had weekend run-in By Howard Witt Tribune correspondent May 7, 2008, 10:23 PM CDT AUSTIN, Texas -- The truth about what happened to Bears running back Cedric Benson aboard his motorboat Saturday night on Lake Travis—whether he was drunk and disorderly, as the police who arrested him allege, or whether he was harassed and abused by the authorities, as Benson asserts—eventually may emerge inside a courtroom. But what's already clear is Benson, by choosing to park his boat inside the lake's most popular cove for drinking and partying, placed himself at the center of an ongoing police crackdown on drunken boaters along the 64-mile-long lake, which was formed by a dam along the Colorado River and ranks among the most pristine bodies of water in all of Texas. Alarmed by a spate of 22 boating fatalities in the last three years—more than half of which involved alcohol—enforcement officers of the Lower Colorado River Authority and four other area police agencies have stepped up their weekend lake patrols and the random safety inspections that give them a pretext to check the sobriety of boat operators. Devil's Cove, also known to Lake Travis regulars as "the party cove," long has been a particular focus of the authorities because of the hundreds of boaters who pack into the 300-yard-long niche each weekend to lash their vessels together into giant floating party rafts. That's where Benson's new 311/2-foot, $147,000 motorboat—an average-sized vessel on a lake teeming with huge houseboats and yachts—was parked Saturday night when an LCRA officer approached and asked to perform a random safety inspection. What happened next is the subject of sharp dispute. LCRA officials say Benson, 25, failed a field sobriety test, resisted complying with the officer's requests and had to be pepper-sprayed to be restrained. He was transported to a nearby marina and charged with resisting arrest and boating while intoxicated. But Benson, a former University of Texas football star who owns a home in the hills overlooking Austin assessed at $1.4 million, insists he was not drunk and did not resist the officer. Instead, he has accused the authorities of pepper-spraying him without provocation, dragging him from the patrol boat and nearly drowning him with a water hose before dumping him into a waiting police car. He says family members and friends who were aboard his boat can vouch for his version of events. One passenger on the boat, Elizabeth Cartwright, told the Tribune on Tuesday night that she didn't believe Benson was drunk and that she and her fiance, also a passenger, were surprised when an officer made Benson take a sobriety test. She also disputed Benson was resisting arrest. At the Emerald Point Marina, a dock across the lake from Devil's Cove where LCRA police brought Benson for transport, an employee of a boat rental company said he witnessed part of the incident Saturday night but declined to offer any details. At the spot where the employee said Benson was removed from the police boat, there is no water hose, although a small garden hose is visible next to a boat slip about 30 yards away. LCRA officials say they will not release any details about the Benson incident, beyond an arrest affidavit that was made public earlier this week, because Benson's first court hearing is pending for May 19. But they deny police abused Benson or that he was singled out for special scrutiny. "It's routine to stop people on the water for safety checks," said Krista Umscheid, an LCRA spokeswoman. "It's not based on anything in particular that people are doing. The officers are not required to have probable cause to do an inspection." Each weekend, the LCRA deploys three or four patrol boats in the most heavily used sections of Lake Travis to make safety checks, respond to medical emergencies, rescue stricken boats and watch for drunken operators, Umscheid said. In 2007, LCRA officers—who are armed and fully licensed police—conducted 839 random safety inspections, issued 149 citations and made three arrests for boating while intoxicated, official figures show. So far in 2008, the officers have performed 184 safety inspections, issued 47 citations and arrested two people for boating while intoxicated, one of whom was Benson. Several boaters randomly interviewed Tuesday evening on Lake Travis said the LCRA officers generally are respected as responsible law enforcement officials who prefer to issue warnings rather than citations when they see violations to avoid spoiling recreational experiences for people. Although the City of Austin Police Department has been the subject of scrutiny over racial-profiling complaints in recent years, no such complaints have been made about the LCRA police, according to the Texas ACLU and other civil rights watchdog groups. LCRA statistics indicate that of 457 total arrests made by LCRA police between 2004 and 2008, 94 percent of those arrested were white, 2.2 percent black, 2 percent Asian and the rest were unclassified. hwitt@tribune.com Copyright © 2008, The Chicago Tribune
  8. That is a strange thing to say. I have plenty of black friends...I have never referred to them as that though. Although there does seem to be some harrassment here by the police. I mean WTF...every time he is out on the boat he gets stopped for a safety check....seems like some bullshit to me.
  9. We could use some more players on this plan. Although this is kinda old. Urlacher's offseason workout.
  10. Yeah there has to be some reason...but it certainly isn't anything lacking on his part. He was the best wideout in camp last year. He wasn't gonna crack it with Moose and Berrian. It really didn't matter how bad they played...Lovie wasn't gonna bench em. Plus, they had to try and get Hester involved. I understand that. I don't understand Davis being ahead of him at all. I'm just hoping he gets a legit shot this year. The difference between Hass and everyone on that list...is they all got a shot right away...Hell they all were pretty much proclaimed top guys as soon as they were drafted. Hass on the other hand, has never even been given a shot and according to most, is already below the 2 guys we just drafted. That's fine if Hass has to work harder...but when he does...and he learns every WR positon and he catches every ball you throw his way....then at least give him a chance.
  11. hahahaha...it's me who brings up Hass. And you gave yourself away by not knowing a thing about him, but thinking....hmmm..white receiver...must be just one of those speedy guys that can't really catch or run routes. Pre judge much?? Rudy Syndrome??? yeah he just works hard...but has no talent. They gave him the Biletnikoff award, because he has a good work ethic. Do you have any idea how good he had to be in college to get that award. It's not like colleges are really pumping up or promoting white wide receivers. In the same way a black QB had to fight the prejudicices back in the day the same goes for white WR. He went above and way beyond expectations. He was always in the right place for his QB and he always made the catch. We're not just talking about him as a possesion receiver who just padded his stats with short catches. He averaged nearly 18 yards per reception during his OSU career. 19 times he had 100+ yard games. Now some of you might tell me...yeah well maybe that isn't gonna translate to the NFL..to that I say bullshit, but I understand that's only my opinion at this point. He didn't forget how to get open and catch. He's not just a hard worker....he's waiting for his opportunity and when he gets it...IF he ever gets it...he will be a stud. Here's just some of his other accomplishemnts... (From Wiki)Became the first receiver in Oregon State and Pac-10 history to have three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, and is only the 10th player in NCAA history to do so. Holds the Oregon State record and is 3rd in the Pac-10 for receiving yards in a career with 3,924 Only player in Oregon State & Pac-10 history with two 225-plus yards receiving games His 293 receiving yards against Boise State in the 2004 season is an Oregon State & Pac-10 record for most receiving yards in a single game His 14 receptions against Arizona State in 2004 is an Oregon State record for most receptions in a game His 20 receiving touchdowns ties him for the Oregon State record for receiving touchdowns in a career His 90 receptions in the 2005 season is an Oregon State record for most receptions in a single season His 220 receptions in his college career is an Oregon State record for most receptions in a career His 1,532 receiving yards in the 2005 season is an Oregon State & Pac-10 record for most receiving yards in a single season Many have speculated that had Hass played as a freshman, he would have had a chance at breaking the NCAA records for career receptions and receiving yards. He ended his three-year Beaver career 80 receptions and 1,081 yards short of the existing records. Now you tell me why a player like that hasn't been given a legit chance to play. Tell me why every receiver that comes in here...is projected above Hass. Hell, you don't know anything about him and you already have him out the door. Now, as for the topic at hand...Hass has absolutely nothing to do with keepeing Benson. If Benson was cut...which would be a dumbass move...his roster spot won't be filled with another WR.... UGGHHH thanks for making me go off....it's been awhile.
  12. Format could just be text. I'm not sure about a bracket or anything....this isn't really my gig...but I will say for that we'd have to depend on people voting all the time...where as this way...it's just send in a list and you're done. We did a list for top 50 funniest movies a couple weeks ago. Here's a couple entries to show you how it went. Entries got points based on how many lists they were on and where they were ranked. I'm guessing there's just a designated point value for ranking and such...if you really wanted all the details you'd have to talk to knightni. 22. There's Something About Mary (1998) (5 of 23 lists - 57 points - highest ranking #1 ChiSox_Sonix) 1. National Lampoon's Animal House (1978) (12 of 23 lists - 177 points - highest ranking #2 Controlled Chaos)
  13. It's 20. But he'll get a shitload of lists and be able to compile a top 50 from those.
  14. I know I am in the minority, but I think Benson can get it done. He was behind an absolute horesehit line the whole fricken year. He showed he has the speed when he gets to the next level. He just rarely ever got there without having to juke and cut first. We saw his speed in the Seattle game, he blew right past the safety and that guy couldn't close the gap and catch Benson either. I don't know if he is gonna be the man, but I certainly wouldn't just cut him and not find out. He is a tough runner and behind a revamped line could be a great one. I look forward to the competition in camp...
  15. Just for the hell of it...we're compiling a list of the top 50 greatest players to ever play sports in Chicago. I shouldn't really say "we're" as I'm only a submission, but knightni is doing all the rankings and all the work. Everyone submits a top 20. There is no criteria on what makes them the greatest....It's your own preference...be it world renowned, most popular, most athletic, most dominant...or whatever. As long as they're great players. It's not a list of your favorite guys or we would all have Maury Buford and his cowbell #1!! We're all pretty sure Jordan will be #1, but ya never know...Sweetness might edge him out. The more lists the better. This is the thread on soxtalk.com where the discussion is...But you could just PM your list to knightni right here. Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Soccer only. When it's all compiled they'll post on the main TalkChicagoSports page. Send in your top 20
  16. Well no draft pick is assured of anything outside of the 1st one. Your post seemed a little more matter of fact than that. Here's the full article since you didn't post a link.
  17. Dude....I wasn't crazy about the pick...but how can anyone say that he might not make the team. It's like 5 days after the fuckin draft...and the peeps who decide if he makes the team or not are the ones who decided to draft him 5 days ago. I don't think anyone should be called a wasted pick yet.
  18. NFO...well done. I also wish you were drafting!!!!!
  19. Handing out draft grades for NFC teams by John Czarnecki Fox Sports Chicago The Bears may have been tempted to replace departed receiver Bernard Berrian in the first round, but instead may have found their slot receiver in Vanderbilt's Earl Bennett in the third round. Bennett is the first SEC receiver to have 75 receptions for three straight seasons. Top pick Chris Williams has the ability and feet to be a starting left tackle — he allowed only two sacks over a two-year period and almost 1,600 plays. The Bears allowed 43 sacks last season. Williams dominated most drills at the Senior Bowl. Arkansas DT Marcus Harrison was a need, and he played last season on a tender knee that had surgery in the spring. Harrison has first-round talent, but seventh-round character. LSU safety Craig Steltz will remind older Bears fans of Gary Fencik with his tremendous run support. Tulane RB Matt Forte was a need, considering the injury history of Cedric Benson. Grade: A
  20. Did we just draft a TE? The only TE that should be mentioned on this board today is in my fuckin avatar!!!!
