  1. Stephen Hill could be a sleeper. He would fit the Big play making WR that Lovie keeps talking about. He won't last till the 3rd. Sounds like he'll be a late first early second with those measurables and 40 time.
  2. Floyd ran a 4.42 and Wright just ran a 4.45 probably can take Floyd off the list now.. Thanks Lovie for winning a meaningless game against the Vikings when we could have picked 11th or 12th..
  3. They'd still have 7 picks left to add a couple of offensive lineman in the draft if they wanted. Not alot out their in free agency for lineman unless we take a chance on McNeil, but that's assuming he can even pass a physical. No matter how you slice it, Emery is going to have to hit on alot of his early round picks this year for the Bears to start stockpiling some talent for the long haul. Alot of this should become more clear once free agency has come and gone.
  4. Possible. They could also go in with the idea of drafting a WR after getting a veteran FA to change one of their weaknesses into a strength. Colston and Wright would not be a bad combination. Neither would Bowe and Floyd, hypothetically speaking.
  5. Lovie made some comments yesterday about needing a bigger receiver and having better depth at the quarterback and safety positions. I believe he was interviewed at the combine. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,145831.column
  6. This is a make or break year for Kellen Davis though. He's had some built in excuses up until now. Being a young player playing behind Greg Olsen and Dez Clark for a couple seasons, then got buried in Martz's playbook, which is notoriously known for ignoring the TE in the passing game. If he doesn't have a good season, this time next year we should be looking for a new TE.
  7. http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/protect...l&year=2011 That site is pretty interesting in how they rate an offensive lines performance. Were ranked last out of 32 NFL teams. Pretty bad stuff, yet the number is also deceptive because of the impact from Cutler's injury. Before our best player went down we were ranked in the middle of the pack, I believe it was around 17th after San Diego. Don't think it was a coincidence that the numbers were drastically altered when your backup quarterback was one of the worst in the league. Hell we went into the negatives after Cutler went down 3 times in the last 5 weeks of the season! Make no mistake, we need offensive line help but it's not more important than getting quality WR's. Were not rolling out Devin Hester, Dane Sanzenbacher, and Earl Bennett out there as our starting unit next season. We need talented bodies and bodies in general with Knox's status up in the air. The new scheme will definitely help the line get better just by virtue of less 7 step drops and changing the pocket, you know, like most other teams in the league do. Thankfully we should have a legit shot at a veteran WR in free agency so you could kill two birds with one stone if you wanted to.
  8. The feeling I get is that you don't really understand a word of what I've said throughout this entire conversation. It's really not that complicated so I'm not going to waste time re-explaining what should be a pretty simple concept to understand. But In summation, 1- I have no idea either way, whether the number is 7 mill, 20 mill, 28 mill, or 40 mill. You have already said you know for a fact it's not 40 mil. Why or how you have that Knowledge, is beyond me. 2- You're backed into a corner with nothing of substance to offer in your posts so you start grandstanding to hide behind your lack of ability to formulate a coherent and understandable opinion. 3- I'll repeat point 1 because as many times as I've repeated it already (5 times now) I guess people still need me to keep emphasizing it every other line so you don't forget. I don't know and frankly don't really care what the number is. There has been multiple reports out there, each with a different number. If it ends up being 20 mill, awesome. If it ends up 28 mill, awesome. If it ends up being 40 mill, awesome. You can't really attempt to insult me by saying "We wont hear from you when the true figure comes out" as if I have been like you and took a stand as to what the number is. Finally, let me ask you a question. And this goes out to anybody.. How do you know that the number isn't going to be 40 million? Because it amazes me how some people can have such a concrete unwavering opinion on exactly what it is.. especially without really saying anything. Oh, and don't answer it with "Because I think it is..". I want a clear, well thought out response to the question. Give me evidence against why it's not going to be 40 mill. I want reasons why this guy is wrong. I want you to dig in and give me exact reasons. If you're going to dismiss it entirely, you have to atleast know why you are writing it off. *Disclaimer statement* He may very well be wrong.. But nobody has given a real reason why yet. And one more time for good measure, I am not arguing for or against the idea of any number. Your original claim was that it IS NOT true and it bothers me when you would say that without a basis to back up your claim.
  9. Ahh you might want to try again.. Or perhaps re-read the thread.
  10. Nah, I just don't like it when people say something isn't true, but then fail to give a legitimate reason why. Eh.. You sure seemed like you were pretty sure when you said "because it bugs me that people get on here and say we have 40 mill available.IT AINT TRUE." The all caps kind of gave it away. You're insisting that I have taken a side, that one person is right over the other, when that's simply not the case, as I've mentioned for the 3rd time now. If you're going to write something off, atleast do it when there's an idiot that comes up with a number without citing any of his information. I have no idea what this line is even about. Or where It came from. Yeah now you're just pulling shit out of your ass.
  11. I wouldn't be upset if either he or Kendall Wright fell to us at 19.
  12. Case in point. But you did say it wasn't true, which is different than actually thinking it. Again, you don't seem to comprehend that I'm not 'saying' anything. I'm not betting on one way or the other; just pointing out that there is a legitimate case to be made for a man that's had a good history of getting it right.
  13. Well it's not my projection. But you seem to be dismissing it just because you want to, not because you have reason too. Notice how many times the number has changed already. That speaks to the level of ambiguity that has taken place among all members of the media; each formulating a different number. To say you know with absolute certainty that it's not 'X amount' is ludicrous.
  14. No to Wallace and a 1st rounder. There are plenty of talented WR's that will be available in the free agent pool. Mike Wallace isn't good enough to make an exception for in regards to throwing away a 1st round pick.
  15. Why? Because Brad Biggs is the be all end all on Capology? Look, there will be plenty of reports from now until the end of free agency that will bring about all sorts of different numbers. Media reports false numbers all the time and then never take responsibility for it because they just move to different numbers after we spend more than they say. Nobody is saying one guy is right over the other. How the hell do we know? The guy we keep bringing up has had a really good track record for the last decade, so its not something you can just dismiss because you can't come up with any good enough reasons yourself, other than writing "IT AINT TRUE" in really big letters from an anonymous website that you are supposedly getting your information from.
  16. I would be surprised if he doesn't get franchised. Nicks is more important to them than Colston is but they may end up using it on Drew Brees if they can't get a deal done. If he's out on the open market, you pay a hefty price but if someone wants to give him 60 mil, more power too them. I wouldn't.
  17. Yes but that only accounts for players that are cut while they are still under contract. That doesn't have any effect on the salary commitment to a given player that's still with the team. Do you have a link to the website your looking at? I'd like to compare it to what's on the CBMB.
  18. The Bears are only committed to 82,196,000 in total salary and have a 8,280,000 2011 cap rollover. If the cap number for this year is 120,750,000 we will have an estimate of about $46.834 mill. I'd be interested in seeing that website you are "researching" because on the Bears board it lists all of the players that the Bears are committed to paying. Not sure how it can really be disputed. The only thing that can be is the estimated cap but the guy has done his homework on the new CBA and has been right more often than not. That number will probably go down to about 20 mil after Matt Forte signs his tender and the Bears re-sign some of their own as well as their rookies.
  19. Manningham is closer to Bernard Berrian when he was with us than he is to Earl Bennett.
  20. Yeah I brought that up a few weeks ago. The guy obviously took his time to go through everything thoroughly enough to make it seem believable. All these writers are going off hear say and every number is different. Atleast with this, everything is documented with every players current and future salaries. I just don't see how there can be such a huge discrepancy between everyone.
  21. Can't say until we get to see the market for him. You can always ask for that type of money but who's going to be the desperate team to give it to him?
  22. I want Bowe but he'll probably get the tag placed on him, Vincent Jackson won't get tagged again, he'll be available but he'd be my 3rd option after Marcus Colston. Colston is a big target for Cutler and a nice possession receiver. Jackson has more upside but he's 29 and is known to be not the most motivated guy in the world. Not to mention, injury prone. I don't see Brandon Marshall as a realistic option because the Dolphins have no reason to trade him. Assuming Bowe isn't available, my ideal scenario is getting Colston and Kendall Wright in the draft. The more I see of Wright the more I like him. He's got Steve Smith type of talent. Smallish receiver but has the courage to go over the middle and the speed to beat you deep. And unlike Knox and Hester, he can actually catch the ball and run good routes.
  23. Haha. I still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing at the time the deal went down. I was sitting in my English 101 class and got a text from someone saying "Bears got Cutler" I actually took it as a joke and didn't think much of it until I had another class during the night and logged onto the computer just to check and as soon as I saw Chicago Bears.com my body went into a state that I can't even describe. I immediately got up and left because I couldn't wait another minute to celebrate. It was an amazing feeling.
  24. Tatupu is already 29 going on 30 and plays MLB. No thanks.
