Wonder what would have happened had Major Wright not destroyed Urlacher's knee in the game against the Vikings. Sucks to see an All-Time great go out because of a contract dispute, but it was probably time. Thanks for the memories, 54.

I doubt it. I'm thinking Ogletree or Arthur Brown. He was the most adamant that they did not want him back. I think there was still a sense of optimism from fans that he would be re-signed.

Dan Bernstein was right after all. Hello LB with the 1st pick.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. They're not going to run Cutler to death. I'm sure they'll be smart with it, and it'll be used sparingly. I'm glad it's in the playbook, and I hope we see more pistol offense that's not part of the read option package. Could be just a simple hand off, could be a misdirection run or a play action pass. Anything to keep the defense honest.
-
I do think he will be back at a reduced price. Nobody else wants him, and I don't think the Bears want to put him in a situation where they force him into retirement.
-
Nobody is giving you a second rounder for Devin Hester. That ship sailed years ago, and even then it was a stretch. The Bears probably couldn't even get a 7th rounder out of Hester right now because every team knows that they could just release him.

Excited about this. I'm sure it will be something we use on occasion, maybe 3rd and short situations to keep the defense honest. The best part about the Pistol offense is how dangerous the play action fake can be in the passing game. Cutler will now have a lot more open space to work with whenever they go to the pistol.

Saw on Twitter, from Trestman's comments this morning, that he says Urlacher could be a 1st and 2nd down linebacker. If he's only on the field part-time, why even bother bringing him back?

The rule passed. Friggin joke.. Just one more rule the referees have to worry about that'll end up getting interpreted 50 million different ways.
-
I brought this up a few months ago as a possibility. Depends how much money we have left to spend. I wouldn't be opposed to the idea. We definitely need that speed element.
-
I still think Bushrod could end up being a very bad signing. Actually, both of these signings could end up being bad. I'm not as confident as some. I guess only time will tell.

If these rule changes keep up, pretty soon we will be watching 17 weeks of the Pro-Bowl. It's getting ridiculous.

I threw up over the idea of Tim Tebow being our backup quarterback. Calvillo is 40 years old and has never played a down of NFL football in his life. Nobody in their right minds is going to offer him a contract.
-
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Nick Roach played fairly well at MLB last year. Maybe I'm selling him a bit short, but I saw him miss a few too many tackles for my liking. I thought he got off balance too easily at times. Not sure what we're losing with him that we couldn't have replaced in the draft.
-
Money-wise, yeah, there's no way he's worth the kind of money he got, and he might flop in Miami, but in Minnesota, he would have been in a perfect situation. Adrian Peterson alone would get him open. If Ponder improves, even a little bit, I think Wallace would have put up career numbers with the Vikings.

Trufant is a nice little player. However, I believe, with the situation at LB, that looks to me as the position the Bears will be aiming for with their 1st pick, unless someone like Warmack falls to their pick. If Urlacher doesn't re-sign, then I'm almost sure of it. Yeah, we're going to take a kicker.
-
Mike Wallace would have been perfect for them, but as I mentioned a few days ago, Jennings is a good consolation prize. He's not nearly as dynamic as Percy Harvin, but he's usually a pretty sure handed receiver who can run every route in the playbook. I'm assuming they'll end up drafting another WR in the 1st to develop, and when you have Adrian Peterson as your RB, the developmental process for every WR is accelerated. Patterson or Austin makes a lot of sense for them.
-
They'll always be good on offense with Megatron and Stafford. The addition of Reggie Bush will help, but they still have a ways to go on defense to surpass the Bears or Packers.
-
Seems like they just signed Michael Turner again after releasing him. Move doesn't make a lot of sense to me. You'd think they'd try to get younger at that position.
-
Sounds like the Bears are wanting Urlacher to sign elsewhere so they aren't obligated to bring him back. At least that's the word on the radio. Makes sense to me. I really think if they wanted to re-sign him, they would have done it before free agency. It could still happen, but I think the fact that they are letting him shop around speaks volumes about where their mind set is on him.

Great players who also have explosive play making ability?

This is a big move for Detroit. Bush fits into exactly what the Lions want to do on offense. They have major problems that need fixing on defense, but adding another explosive play maker alongside Calvin Johnson helps them quite a bit. He has gotten better as a runner, but he'll make most of his money catching passes out of the backfield for a team that loves to throw the ball. He's the replacement for Jahvid Best, who was pretty dynamic himself when he was able to play.
