  1. I want to see more of McClellin in a 2 point stance, like ALL THE TIME! Enough with this pretending. He's not a defensive end. When he plays, he should be rushing as an OLB in the 3-4 front the Bears have been teasing with 1 or 2 times a game lately. That needs to happen 75% with him on the field. I think the Bears are last in the NFL in giving up plays over 20+ yards this season, which is a pretty good indication that they are definitely "breaking" in this bend but don't break defense. Most of that is on the lack of pass rush from the front four, but some of it is the confusion from the safeties and bad overall execution from Mel Tucker's schemes. They'll need to make a trade for a NFL DT or this is likely the way it's going to be for the rest of the year, and it can get even worse with injuries. The offense hasn't gotten to the point yet where they can win shootouts against legit teams, but they will need to be if this team wants to smell postseason success. The learning curve needs to be sped up.
  2. Injuries have played a huge part in the defenses downfall but they were pretty bad when most everybody was healthy the first couple games as well. I don't think it's a coincidence that this team is last in the NFL in sacks. IIRC Mel Tucker's Jaguar defenses were also last in the NFL in sacks the year before he took over the Bears defense. Rod Mareneli's presence is being understated here IMO. Also, the tackling and gap control shouldn't be this bad. That is on coaching. The offense is coming along, but I don't think they are as good as the numbers suggest. Their stats are very misleading when you take into account the way some of it has happen, specifically the games against the Lions and Saints when half their offense has come in the 4th quarter after the opposing team goes into prevent mode to protect a huge lead. Before last night, they weren't accomplishing much early in games. Part of me wonders if it's Marc Trestman not adjusting very well to adjustments other teams have made against the Bears. No one expects perfection, but when you have a defense that's really bad, the Bears "O" needs to be better than they have played if they want to make the playoffs and beat really good teams.
  3. Well said. I agree with everything. The problem on offense is the running game. They are constantly wasting plays running up the middle with forte on 1st and 10 or 3rd and short, which winds up costing us points on the scoreboard. Cutler was about as sharp as he's ever been tonight, but the team still only managed to put up 20 points against the worst or 2nd worst defense in the league. I just don't get the play calling when it comes to running the ball. There's no way they should be as bad as they are with a new offensive line that's way more physical than the one we had a year ago. I think it comes down to play calling and design.
  4. Cutler was on point for the most part tonight. I did not like the play calling in the redzone tonight. No excuse not to come away with 7 when you are gift wrapped the field position inside the 10. The offense got it together after that and destroyed the Giants D. Then they did next to nothing in the 2nd half. Need to start improving on finishing drives off. The D was bad again, which wasn't a surprise. The Giants converted 7 of 11 3rd downs, and averaged about 7 yards per play. They also had well over 100 yards rushing for the game, which was more than double their season average. They just don't have NFL talent up front. There's no fix to it, and it's something the team will have to deal with all year unless they catch lightning in a bottle from some young kid. I'm going to write this one off as a typical bad Thursday game on a short week. Both sides of the ball have a lot of work to do. Offense needs to put a complete game together, and they need to run the ball better. I don't know what else you can say about the defense. The Bears are in for a long year with that.
  5. This is about the least satisfying win you could ever draw up. Guess it's better to be lucky than good.
  6. There is never anybody close to Eli Manning in the pocket.
  7. Jeffery has to catch that. Had a chance to chew up more clock. Instead, the offense stalls again.
  8. We are getting near danger zone. Offense hasn't done anything yet this half.
  9. Only a 91 yard drive.. Nothing big. The offense needs to start executing better and finish off drives. 27 points isn't going to be enough to win this game I fear.
  10. The running game shouldn't be this bad. They've been getting about one big run a game. I still don't know why they keep trying to force Forte up the middle. He's not good in tight spaces.
  11. Robbie Gould feeding that family!
  12. Offense gets the ball to start the half. They need to come out with more of a sense of urgency. It's time to go for the kill. Cutler is playing as well as he has all year.
  13. Why the freak are they not trying to run plays with 50 seconds to go and 1 timeout?? Atrocious time management.
  14. Looks like it's going to be a shoot out. Neither defense seems interested in eliminating the big plays.
  15. Or rather move him to his actual position at LB instead of pretending he's a DE. Oops.. The Bears don't run a 3-4.
  16. Not sure which team has the worst defense.
  17. That amazing Giants offense just ran all over the Bears there.. literally.. This team has some serious issues on both sides of the ball. A team that averaged 56 yards rushing per game already has 56 yards before the 1st quarter is over.
  18. Stupid ass play calling and a dumb ass decision to go for it on 4th down. Take the points! And stop running Matt Forte up the middle!
  19. Lets hope the Bears don't allow another receiver to burn them for over 150 yards tonight. Cruz scares the hell out of me against this defense.
  20. This is a team the Bears should handle. If they struggle, and or lose this game, it's going to be chaos in Chicago for the next week.
  21. The biggest problem I've had with Cutler and the offense is that too much is being done late in games after they have fallen behind enough to where the opposing defense is comfortable enough to sit back and give you meaningless stat padding yardage. Specifically in the last two games where about half their offense came in the 4th quarter. Cutler has looked better, I'll give him that, but he's still the same guy he's always been. He'll have 3 or 4 games where he'll look like an All Pro, but he'll have 3 or 4 awful games that leave you feeling sick when the game is over. With Jay it's all about managing those bad games and making sure it doesn't become a total implosion like the Lions game. That's Trestman's job. That is what he is here for. They definitely need to start getting things in gear here as we approach the halfway point of the season. The more games you play the more tape there is for teams to look at. Trestman is suppose to be the offensive genius, but he's left a lot to be desired. I don't expect them to look like an elite offense right now, but I do expect better results than I've seen so far this year early in games. That's where the game planning comes into play. That's on Trestman.
  22. The Browns are supposedly shopping him for whatever reason. I understood dealing Richardson for a draft pick because of the position he plays, but Gordon is your star 22 year old WR who's probably going to be better than anything you get for him in return. They're asking for a 2nd round draft pick, but likely will only get a 3rd. You already know I'm going to ask it. Would you give up a 3rd round pick for someone like Gordon? Yeah, the likelihood of the Bears being interested is about slim and none. If they are going to make deals, you'd sooner guess it's for a position of greater need like DT, but the question at hand is would YOU do it? I haven't made up my mind yet. I want to say yes, but I also see all the reasons why they shouldn't do it. Pro's: - Adds an element to the offense they don't currently have, which is the speed and homerun hitting ability. - He fits right along with Marshall and Jeffery in terms of physique, but brings the speed that those two don't have. 6'3 225 with 4.3 speed. They would easily have the most physically imposing group of WR's in the league, as well as a top 3 core overall. - He's only 22, so he's practically about as young as any other potential draft pick - He makes your offense better and less predictable Con's: - More of a luxury at this point than a true need. - Marshall might go nuts if he sees even less targets. - You don't know what you have yet in Marquess Wilson potentially filling this void. - Future cap considerations. Lots and lots of money would need to be spent on the WR position to secure these guys.
  23. A month means he could be coming back right around that Bears game. I want to see the Bears beat GB with him playing, because it'll be a good way to know how we stack up against them in the future.
  24. You can guess what the 1st round pick is going to be for next year. DT
  25. You can call it something else, but it was another poor performance. They were bad, and this defense as a whole has been pretty damn awful for the majority of the year, would you not agree? I'm not letting the offense off the hook either, as stated in my previous posts. They share a huge chunk of blame in this game as well, but at least what they're doing seems fixable. I'm not sure this defense can get much better. Age and attrition seems to have finally caught up with them.
