Mike Neal?
Back with the pack....that's fine, c'mon Melton!

BEARS SIGN HOUSTON
At the very least, he was more disruptive(I'm talking pressures/QB Hits here not just sacks) than last years version of Peppers. He's a good player. There's a reason why nfl.com has him ranked as the 5th best FA.

McCown gone
Isn't it ironic, don't cha think?

Cap space after signings and cuts???
Probably wanna make sure they can sign a guy before they release him....Were talking to Domenik Hixon yesterday so it sounds like they're in the market. Bears need $2,029,163 for rookies....not sure how much that would change if they trade down a bit, which would be nice.

McCown gone
@RUSSLANDE @AdamSchefter - I think Brandon Weeden could end up as @ChicagoBears backup QB as Coach Trestman worked closely with him leading up to Draft. That tweet is from Lande to Shefter FYI.....Lande was a scout for the Alouttes so he knows Trestman a bit....I can get behind that signing.

Cap space after signings and cuts???
I've made a few posts on it, but there's so much going on I'm not surprised you missed it.... overthecap.com has us at $13,377,969.....Mundy and Jennings aren't included though. Still think Earl Bennett could be cut and that number would improve to ~15.8. Still a lot of money to work with.

Charles Tillman
Then there's also this.... John Mullin @CSNMoonMullin 1h #Bears Emery: draft has more to offer at CB than what's out there in free agency
-
Bears talking to Jarred Allen
Hopefully its Biggs/Wright who don't think so....Hopefully the report of 10M a year is wrong too. Emery said something about there being more value in the draft at CB, so I think that's where they get their CB. Melton/Allen would be fantastic. If they get those 2 then we're looking at CB and S as the only clear needs for upgrades. Perhaps throw in another DE to give Allen some rest/take over in a year or 2.

Bears talking to Jarred Allen
Yup, they know they only got a year or 2 left with Manning, gotta get that ring. We're miles behind Denver at this point, unless we really hit it big in the draft.

Bears talking to Jarred Allen
That's Meltons number! Still got a feeling he'll be back. Sadly after the Ware signing, I'm not even sure Allen is realistic. Supposedly Denver offered him the same 3/30 they gave Ware.

Bears cut Rosario - update - now signed
Nope......But now we're talking about resigning him again lol. Dane Noble @WindyCGridiron 17m WAIT A MINUTE - Emery says Bears will likely re-sign TE Rosario. The guy they signed a couple weeks ago, then cut a few days after that. WUT I have no idea what's goin on with him.

Bears break down after the start of FA
Not really missing anyone of note. Still very early. Think there's a good chance we re-sign Melton and also add another DE/S.

BEARS SIGN HOUSTON
670 The Score @670TheScore 3m Lamarr Houston calls free agent Henry Melton a "best friend," says he's working on getting DT to return to Chicago That'd be fantastic. Melton is visiting with the Viqueens, I'd hate to see him twice a year.

Mike Neal?
Ahh, just saw that he played in every game. Still would take a chance on him, think he can be a really good 3 tech, or perhaps an above average, rotational DE.
-
Mike Neal?
He has been, was healthy all year last year though. It's the type of deal that could pay off.
-
pretty disappointed so far
Bears still have 13M to spend, they're not gonna spend it all on vet min type guys....Theyre gonna get something in here, combined with the draft the D will be improved. It looks bleak now, can't imagine it'll look the same a month from now.
-
pretty disappointed so far
Until he's named the starter I won't worry too much. We need depth. Still a lot left out there.
-
pretty disappointed so far
And he's had/does has a + CB. They signed Alteraun Vernor. The need for the best of the best is just not needed.
-
MD Jennings a Bear
On 2nd thought I guess he was awful last year, maybe a change in scheme will help?
-
Seattle cut
At this point all the DEs are up there in age. A year is probably all he gets.
-
MD Jennings a Bear
Another saftey, played for the pack last year.....Not a bad signing, he's still young and probably didn't cost much.
-
Bears sign S Ryan Mundy
Ya, it's not a bad thing at all IMO. Went on a few Giants boards and they thought he had a good year. 77 tackles in just 10 starts??? not bad.
-
Mike Neal?
It's rumored we could be targeting him. He's a somewhat local kid from the "GI" (Gary, Indiana). I actually think he'd be a real good 3-tech, might get a look at DE. Probably looking at 3-4mil. Could probably grab him and another DE, then fix the secondary in the draft.
-
Seattle cut
Ya, he'd be a real good signing. Money would be there. Sack numbers were down but I'll throw out the same reasoning I did with Bennett. Seattles line was crazy deep last year, he went from 869 snaps in 2012 to 532.
-
pretty disappointed so far
I don't know what we're gonna look like schematically but I still think we play cover 2. In which case yes, I'm fine with Mundy, who actually had a good year last year, and a rookie. We don't know how good said rookie will be, draft has a lot of talent there.
