I will continue to just think that safety is not that big a need for a cover 2 team (if that's what we still play). That might sound a little crazy but just look at 2012. Again, when NFL network was talking about the Bucs trading Revis they brought up that Lovie doesn't need him in that system, it's crazy, but it's true. I still think Conte and Mundy will battle for 1 spot and we'll get a another S in the first 3 rounds. .....We missed on DE because everyone but Houston and Johnson was resigned. Nothing we can do about that. Houston is no slouch though, nfl.com has him ranked as the 5th best FA (actually ahead of Bennett, which I disagree with, but I digress). Those thinking this D is worse now going from Peppers to Houston are just crazy, living in the past, or just going on name value.

I heard that too....It'd be scary but we need to fill at least one of DT, DE, CB, and perhaps S, before thinking about signing anything significant on offense. Right now according to overthecap we have 13M left in cap space (don't have Mundy listed though). They should be able to fill 2 or 3 of those.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit now that they have some cap room. Jason Hatcher doesn't fit the "youth movement" but he'd be nice to have if Melton walks.

Sproles is a bit of a luxury IMO. Until the D is fixed I'm passing on any offensive player that cost any significant $$$.

Even in the scenario where Melton is back?? Wouldn't hate pairing Melton with Jernigan, but I'm fine with Ratliff and Paea "duking it out" for the NT. Agree with you on LB. I've heard Phillip Daniels and now Alex Brown as a comparison, I'll just throw out Izzy as well.

I'm thinkin Melton. Houston isn't much of a pass rusher so we need a guy that can get after the QB from the interior. I've been the leader of the Aaron Donald fan club but I'm starting to think he won't be there at 14.
