The #Bears are hiring Adam Gase as their offensive coordinator, source said. It’s a 3-year deal.

I hope he doesn't leave after a year, assuming the offense is worth a crap. That's my only concern. Could be why Fox was hesitant at first.

Probably exactly why he was hesitant, however, lets get the right man to install something and if he kicks ass and gets another job, well than It means we had a good season and I have faith in Fox finding new candidates.

sure would be a first for us having teams looking to poach our coaching staff before they are fired. I like that Fox isn't afraid of hiring someone that may in a year or two might get lured away.

We should only pray he leaves soon. Success will dictate that...

That's EXACTLY what I was going to say. You won't to promote you're coaches, hope they are successful as hell, and get a head coaching job. Then it's "next man up!"

QUESTION: When was the last time the Bears had an offensive coordinator that became a head NFL coach? When was the last time we had an OC who didn't leave the Bears and take a lesser position?

I don't think either has ever happened.

I hope like hell teams are lining up to interview Gase next year.

There we go. Remember not too long ago he was a HC candidate for us.

Brad, our coaches only take positions at or below their levels. Trestman down, DeCam same, Tice down, Marinelli same.

Who knows why Gase was not hired by other teams, he might not have liked the other locations and then came back once Fox was hired.

I just love the fact that we have the best set of GM/HC/OC/DC that we have ever had since the Ditka days.

#Bears have reached an agreement with Adam Gase to become their new offensive coordinator.

I like it. My only concern would be if he harbors some ill will that he wasn't chosen for HC.

That would be crazy. The dude wants to be a head coach. If he harbors ill will, that ain't going to happen.

I still have concerns with how he will mesh with this aging offense that is ready to win now. He needs to rule with an iron fist, but at the same time, he can't go Josh McDaniels and having Cutler demanded to be traded (with not takers this time) and Marshall batting balls down.

That being said, I probably would have had those concerns with any OC. In Fox we trust.

Aging offense? We are a year younger based on the starting 11:

Manning 38 / Cutler 31

Ball 24 / Forte 29

Thomas 27 / Marshall 30

Welker 33 / Jeffery 24

Sanders 27 / Wilson 22

Thomas 26 / Bennett 27

Ramirez 31 / Garza 35

Clady 28 / Bushrod 30

Clark 29 / Mills 24

Franklin 27 / Slauson 28

Vasquez 27 / Long 26

Gase is the teams fire and Fox is the ice. Good combo imo. This offense has talent and it might take a fiery leader to wake them up, hold them accountable. I like this, we have two highly touted coordinators now and a very good HC.

Yeah, but Denver had Peyton Manning who is one of the best QB's in the league, called all the plays, and brought his offense from Indy.

Those numbers are skewed because the two youngest players, Mills & Wilson, may not be worth a damn. Do they even stick?

Matt Forte is ancient for a RB. Cutler turns 32 is April. But ultimately the ages don't matter. Gase has only been a coordinator with Peyton calling the shots. How does he fix this dysfunctional mess?

Brandon Marshall seems to be in favor:

@BMarshall: Congratulations to my guy Adam Gase. It was good catching up and laughing with him today about the Denver Days. Excellent hire. #BearDown

The first way is to establish the run and second is to have a pass game that beats the zone. The predictability of Trestmans offense never had defenses guessing.

If I knew how to posts tweets, Marshall just posted "congrats to my man Adam Gase" "it was fun laughing at the old days in Denver".

That is a positive sign in my books

Just Marshall meeting with him is a good sign. May be able to put some of the theories of Marshall being cut aside. I'm not sure the OC would be meeting with him and bs'ing if he was going to be gone.

Here's hoping Martz is right in that Gase is one of the brightest offensive minds in football and he wasn't just riding Peyton's coat tails.

Yes, but as per reports, Brandon Marshall is the leader of the dysfunction!!! And the last time Gase coached him, Marshall held out, was suspended, and traded to the Dolphins after the season ended. He was gone and Gase stayed. BM did put up some record numbers that season. But there was far more good than bad. Dysfunctional then, dysfunctional now.

What was Brandon Marshall laughing about the Denver Days? All his stupid antics?

I'm just pointing out that whatever Brandon Tweets probably doesn't mean a damn thing, one way or another.

This is probably exactly what he was texting or tweeting about. Like something to the effect: 'Man, you remember when I was a complete idiot and acted like a toolbag back in the day?' 'Wow, times have changed.'

I don't see him as the leader of dysfunction. From what it sounds, his rant in the locker room was appropriate. Especially if you consider how things have shaken out this year.

Yeah, Marshall has been pretty active lately. Kind of fired up about him. As much as I think he might be chemistry issue I hope he isn't. On the field I love what he does and I also love his freakin work ethic. Its insane. I look forward to starting to hear about Bears offensive players working out on their own, etc, and making us all forget about last year. This is a what have you done for me lately league and this unit has every chance to make us all forget about last year!!!

I truly believe that Marshall has influence in the lockerroom and during the offseason. I remember last year with all the pictures of Bears players at his workout facility tweeted out or instagrammed or whatever and some included Cutler. Gase was a young WR position coach at Denver while Marshall was there so he has to have some kind of relationship with him. This was all before his diagnosis and marriage and now parenthood which should all calm some of our fears. FWIW this is the most prolific WR the Bears have ever had and he like all the new breed WRs is a Diva.

The strong rumors about Gase is that everywhere he interviewed thought he was one and done and if you are trying to rebuild an offense you want more of a committed staff for the long haul. That is what is cool about Fox he doesn't seem to care about that. He has two guys who interviewed for HC jobs as his coordinators while two of his former coordinators are HCs.

Well all I know is that diva blocks the hell out of his guy downfield on running plays. Marshall is the complete player at the position. Unless he raped Virginia's cat or some shit, he belongs on this team next season..
