I was wondering with all the Sherman trade talk; What are they asking for him? I'm thinking too much. At 29, he still has many years left. I also think once he loses a step that he would be a phenomenal FS. He's probably one of the smartest players I've seen. Then there's the mouth...

Does he fit Pace's model. A big contract for a player at that age for a skill position that could deteriorate quite quickly. I am now content to wait another couple of years to build the roster through the draft and not overspend on free agents

I would be ok if he were 26, but approaching 30 for that contract. If we were a little closer and only a CB away from SB contention, then I would be all in. I just don't think we are there yet.

I don't think he's nearly as good as the reputation says. Their secondary is a collective beast. Having said that, CBs appear to age in dog years at a certain point (remember Revis island?), and I'm not sure I'd like him on the team. Last but not least, but probably most important, is the fact that the Bears have a fairly deep CB roster at the moment.

 

Cooper is starting. Period.

Amukamara is starter quality.

Porter is starter quality.

Fuller is on a contract year, so he'll play hard and appear starter quality.

Leblanc looked promising last year.

 

 

I would give our 2nd for him. Pair that with drafting Hooker or Adams with our first and we have the best backfield in the NFC. Now, we spend the rest of the draft making our offense strong enough to grind it out.

Back to the original topic: Sherman (and Seattle's defense) are so good in large part because of the safety play. Earl Thomas is the eraser. We saw this with Browner when he left and many felt he was some great CB but he flopped as an elite FA. Sherman is clearly much better than Browner but he plays with the same "handsy" style early on a route and needs the over the top help at times. He'd be our best CB but he was never a fast player so how long can he hold onto that quickness the helps him jam and then turn and run?

 

I don't think he'd be happy here anyway amongst a rebuilding team...... and if Momma ain't happy....... well you know how that goes. I don't see Pace and Fox wanting to add him to the locker room mix.

First; on Sherman...hell no. Mostly because of his locker room presence. You thought Brandon and Martellus were distractions? Maybe he'll reunite with Quinn down in ATL.

 

Secondly; as Jason eloquently put it, Cooper is starting "period". (I'm still looking for his jersey).

 

 

Personally, I hope he ends up on the Giants somehow. I'd love to see what would happen on the practice field, and in the locker room, with him, Marshall, and OBJ.

With this draft being about 20 CBs deep with good talent and the Bears stock piling FAs, I don't think he gets considered. If they were a playoff caliber team, then they may have interest.
