So, I'm feeling a little ornery right now watching SF dominate the Queens.  Reminiscing the trade that brought us Trubisky and losing the 67 and 111 picks, as well as a 2018 third rounder.  I haven't looked at who SF drafted with those three picks, but I do know they drafted George Kittle in the 5th round the same draft that we drafted Adam Shaheen in the 2nd.  Bet we could've drafted a really good OL with that pick.

The consolation kick in the nuts is that if we don't do the trade with SF, we may have gotten stuck with Mahomes.  ?

Being a former Navy man, I salute you.

Yeah, imagine if we’d have been stuck with Mahomes or Watson where we’d be today.

Based on what Watson did in his playoff game likely in the exact same place.  He was horrible and only pulled out a win by running in the 4th quarter.  He has one of the top 3 WRs in the NFL at his disposal and still struggled to read coverages and hit the open man.

"Back to my Sailor Jerry". As an ex sailor myself I had to look up what a Sailor Jerry was.  Had never heard of it.

Before the TD drive (after long KR return), Mahomes started 4-10, 43 yards while watching his team fall behind 24-0. The entire time it was the receivers fault, etc, etc. Never on Mahomes. If Trubisky played like that to start the game, and the Bears were down by 24, OMG. Regardless of the outcome, the media has really made things much worse for us Bears fans. We don't need to be reminded daily about something we couldn't control.

BTW Mongo, I know Alvin Kamara was selected in one of those picks and I believe the LB from SF was too, Fred Warner. So Watson or Mahomes, Kamara and Warner vs Trubisky.

And now they’re about to go ahead just before the half.  If the Bears would been down 24 that would be the losing score.

It’s good we have a GM that is a former scout and knows how to mine good players from D2 like Cohen, Jordan Morgan and Shaheen.  And trade for solid Franchise players like Trubiksy.

Yet...here we are watching him (Watson) play in the second round of the playoffs. Against Mahomes.  Both of which were picked after Trubisky.

I'm going out on a limb here but I doubt if Mitch could ever bring a team back the way Mahomes has in the first half.  And just as not every play was not his fault early he sure made a lot of plays in the 2nd half.  4td's in ten minutes.  And the media might keep reminding us but he and Watson sure help.  Just saying

Opps again in the 2nd quarter not 2nd half.

I think Watson is the most overrated of the group. Mahomes is a total stud and no denying how generational his talent and game is.  Watson has more ups than Mitch, but his downs are pretty bad.  Watson was clearly uncomfortable a huge chunk of yesterdays game and it showed.  Too in between on running vs. passing and a ton of inaccurate balls. That said, he's still a better QB than Mitch, just not as great as most fans on this board / general Chicago Bear fans think he is.

This is not a defense of Mitch, but I would love to see what he could do if he had either one their offensive lines and receivers.  Trust me, it's not even close.

Give KC credit for drafting Mahomes.  If everyone else knew what they knew, he would have gone sooner.  I personally hate the comparisons because nobody knew.  Trubisky was the consensus #1 QB for that draft.  Knowing who was picked where and who was right about who doesn't mean anything.

I was drinking and playing the hindsight game, because the grass is always greener on the other side.  I always feel guilty after doing that because I know it's dumb.  Funny thing is; there are guys just like us that still have their respective teams in the playoffs thinking, "what if we had that guy?".

Meh.  Looking back at some of the pre-draft boards yes he was #1 but not all.  Some had Watson where another I saw had Kizer.  All the more reason we should rarely listen to the alleged ‘know it alls’.  And if memory serves, Nagy said the Chiefs were looking at Mahomes early on.  They must’ve seen something they liked.

Hindsight being what it is AND we knew Trubiskys track record in college (minimal) it would have been nice to bank on someone a bit more solid.

You can find draft projections that had one or another listed as this and that.  90% of all first round QB's end up as failures in the long run.  Just a really pot shot.  What are the chances that the two college QB's playing tonight in the national champ become great pros?  Less than 50%
