Great movie. Great scene. Dennehy was a fantastic actor. He will be missed.

The ideal situation would be if MT broke out and became the player he was drafted to be. Probably not going to happen. 

At this point, the Bears put themselves in the best situation they could given the circumstances. In my opinion, Trubisky has been coddled by the organization, which is different than giving him weapons and trying to do everything in their power to allow him to succeed. Now it's all on him. He either balls out and lives up to expectations or stays in the same rut he has been in for a few years. He has to become more than a single read QB that needs the coach in his ear pre-snap. I know that is why Nagy has become frustrated with him. The training wheels have to come off at some point.

it begs the question of whether having the training wheels in the first place even helped.

The dance parties etc - these are pro athletes, they are hyper competitive. Push their buttons and get the most out of them, and stop trying to make it easy for them. Bill Parcells knew how to get the most from his players, and it wasnt a dance party.

You're right. This could be exactly what Trubisky needs. And he either does, or does not. There is no try.

Jared Goff got $110mil in 4 years by listening to his coach's reads pre-snap.  On the RAms run to the Superbowl that was widely hailed as the new way to do business.  Get yourself a decent college QB and just tell him what to do pre-snap... just like they got in college.  Nagy comes in doing some of the same college stuff RPOs with an athletic QB and whatnot and it's hailed as the next wave of offensive genius.  After all KC under Andy Reid was doing that and they almost got Alex Smith a league MVP award.   Two injured years later and we have a QB who is scared to run.     

What examples do you have of him being coddled?    Personally I think Nagy completely threw him under the bus last season so did Dave  Rogaine.  There were a multitude of issues on offense last year and for the first part of the season Nagy let the failures all fall on Mitch's shoulders.  It wasn't until mid-season or later when the media finally started talking about the poor Oline play and the poor play calling.   Or calling into question some of the route running by Anthony Miller.   That may have been part of the plan...the tough love approach and see how he responds but it's a far cry from being coddled.
