Practice Squad

Featured Replies

With 16 slots, it will be interesting to see how many outside players they sign.

The Bears didn't claim anyone on the waiver wire, so all the external signings will technically be free agents.

Their bringing  back Blasingame

have signed Samori Toure/WR from GB

Austin Reed coming back

I seen they brought in a LS, Daly? I need to go back to see where I seen that. (Scott Daly) from Detriot.

The Chicago Bears have announced their initial 2024 practice squad.

Micah Baskerville, linebacker

Carl Jones, linebacker

Reddy Steward, cornerback

Ro Torrence, cornerback

Byron Cowart, defensive tackle

Dashaun Mallory, defensive tackle

Jamree Kromah, defensive end

Tarvarius Moore, safety

Quindell Johnson, safety

open

open

Austin Reed, quarterback

Theo Benedet, guard

Stephen Carlson, tight end

Jake Curhan, offensive tackle

Collin Johnson, wide receiver

there are a lot of good names on the practice squad - players of a level of ability that would have been 2nd or 3rd string and on the 53 for us in years past.

For Wk 12?   I can be nice and acknowledge they need a 4th QB after losing McCarthy for the season.  But I’d rather take the bait and agree they’re gonna need 3 months to prepare for the beat down will be delivering in Wk 12.  And it still won’t help them!

I'd have to add to the discussion that by the time week 12 comes around, our offense will have advanced far beyond where it currently stands with Caleb's progressive development. IOW, by the time week 12 comes about, Rypien's input will be outdated and useless.

Thanks for posting that.

I'm especially glad to see Curhan made it through waivers. If Braxton goes down and Kiran isnt ready, having him as an option is a huge difference. But it is one that will mean less in December than it does right now, so practice squad is good. Ditto in some ways for Reed as the emergency 3rd QB, and Daly for Scales.

Also glad to see Micah Baskerville, Collin Johnson, Carl Jones Jr and Reddy Stewart stuck around for us to develop them.

Toure is a sneaky pickup. Obviously, Tonyan or Patrick didn't divulge much about the GB offense. Hopefully Toure does lol.
