He hesitated just a bit and looked away before answering with some generic statement. It felt a bit deceitful to me. I’m going to go out on a limb and say there is already an agreement in place of some sort regarding the final roster. That can be either way. I’ll watch and see what he says about his family but my suspicion is that he’s getting money to work for the summer. If Caleb builds a good relationship with him then there’s nothing stopping him then from chatting about things during the regular season. something is up - I dunno what it is, but yes something... You may be right but both OTC and SpoTrac show him on a 3 year deal from 2023. Tyson Bagent signed a 3 year, $2,720,000 contract with the Chicago Bears, including $25,000 signing bonus, $25,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $906,667. In 2025, Bagent will earn a base salary of $1,030,000, while carrying a cap hit of $1,038,334 and a dead cap value of $8,334. the Bears website under team shows a heading (transactions) that list every transction done since the begining of the year and I cant find that extension. ISPORT and SPORT FIGUR are the only two sources that announced it. Tribune and Suntimes doesnt have stories about this. No Bear beatwriter reported it. No mention on the Bears team website. They have stories of Thuney, Gordon, and Jackson extensions, why wouldnt they report 2/ 37.5 mil salary that is one of the highest per yr contract on the team? In 2026 the year extenstions start, he would be the 4th hightest paid player on the team. Im on Courtney Cronin X account and if you look at the first week of May, nothing mentioned. this is the transactions reports on the Bears website for May . The stories are reported on May 8th. Transactions 2025 2024 2023 2022 2021 2020 2019 2018 2017 2016 May 05/21 Signed OL Joe Thuney to two-year contract extension through 2027. 05/08 Signed DB Major Burns, DL Xavier Carlton, LB Power Echols, LS Luke Elkin, RB Deion Hankins, DB Tysheem Johnson, K Jonathan Kim, WR JP Richardson, DL Jereme Robinson and WR Jahdae Walker. 05/08 Signed DB Jeremiah Walker. I think these reporters ( I have never heard of) may have mistaken Jeremiah Walker signing as a Tyson Bagent signing. He got 1 yr/ 840 thousand. BearFan PHX Posted yesterday at 01:20 AM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 01:20 AM You know what Stinger? I think you're right. I saw the story a few weeks ago, from several sources, but not any sources i really knew. And today i just googled it and pasted it without really reading it. I re-reading, there is NO WAY we signed Bagent for $18M a year for 2 years! And as I looked futher, no reputable sources had it. So I guess it's internet bullshit, and I have no problem saying you were right and I was wrong about this. I had seen some opinion pieces in reputable places that said he would be in line for an extension, so when I saw the fake story, I just thought it was true - it wasnt particularly interesting, so i didnt dig into to it - but I should have. But 2 years $37.5M?? LOL no way. So, I full admit you were right and I was wrong about this one.

That doesnt really concern me too much at this point. I am eager to see this on the field and then start picking it apart, or praising it, or both. DABEARSDABOMB
I think we all saw enough to know Caleb has a lot to work on. He also has a lot of talent. Facts are he has a totally new standard being set from the top on down. Ben Johnson is a proven play caller who knows offense and is a stickler for the little things - from how to get in and out of the huddle, to how to line up, where the ball goes, and even how you handle your emotions on sidelines. He knows all those little things add up and create a material difference. Caleb has never been coached like this. Caleb has talent - that is clear - but now that he has an elite offensive mind to work with him - he also is going to see how hellacious the work effort is and what it takes to be elite at the NFL level. Let’s hope Caleb has it in him cause I think there is probably a bit of an eye opening experience going on right now with a number of players who were used to the cupcake nature of Eberflus. And I for one say it is about ducking time! And Caleb seeing Keenan who is a good back up leverage his smarts to look better than him just puts more pressure on Caleb to elevate all aspects of his game. AZ54
One thing I think I see from the limited highlights is that early on in the offseason Caleb was always patting the ball and then throwing. As a DB or DT you love to see that. In recent clips I don't see him doing that. It's not entirely clear yet because a lot of sources mix in highlights from different practices. Are the coaches forcing him to break a bad old habit? I hope so and it's something I'll be looking for as the team begins training camp. With some of these reports about inaccuracy I would say if he's in the early stages of breaking a bad habit it will affect some of his touch, timing, and accuracy because he's got to be deliberate to skip the "pat" and just throw as soon as he sees it. OMG YES thank you for saying that. I've been hating that for a while about Caleb, and I also just noticed him NOT doing it in camp clips. Theyre fixing his footwork, eliminating the pat, and working on pouty body language. Only time will tell, but right now i am really glad we got Johnson and not Mike Vrabel. I wanted Vrabel early because I know this team needs discipline, but i gotta say, so far it sure looks like Ben Johnson has brought some. And it's not from rah rah speeches at the press conferences either. No HITS acronyms. or all male disco parties after wins. It's just on the field, in the play to play mechanics, where it's real.
