That didnt open but I think I already saw it. The best interview I ever saw Caleb give. I think it was Marquee sports that did the interview.  Its called The Chicago Football Show. I went to their channel and couldnt find it. If its a different one let me know so I can watch it.

Switch your VPN to Mexico because apparently Mexicans are allowed to watch anything on Youtube without the usual copyright restrictions.  If that fails search for Inside Training Camp Live and Caleb

Jordan Addison is suspended for the first 3 weeks of the season. So the Bears will get the Vikings in Week 1 without their WR2, which is a pretty big deal because their next best WR is Nailor, which will scare nobody. Jefferson is also currently hurt with a hamstring injury, but has a month to heal. Stop the run and shade to Jefferson's side should make for a very winnable game for the Bears in Week 1.

His QB is getting no practice with him.  Our Defense mixes up coverages.  We also press a lot to take away early timing on routes.  It won’t be easy for McCarthy on a road game.

What encourges me is BJ always played well against the Viking D. He scored 31 points in both games against that defense last year. In 2023 scored 30 points each game. 24 and 34 his first year as the OC in 2022.

I saw a quote that BJ said starting jobs and positions are going to be heavily weighted by these upcoming joint practice. Way he said it kind of just continues with how he sets the tone that practice matters and details matters and message he sent on an off day was - you better show up with your best against Miami cause I’m making decisions on this stuff.

It’s great to see him pushing players.  However there just aren’t that many jobs up for grabs among our starters.  LT and CB2.  There’s a ton of competition for the backup roles almost everywhere on our roster.

We have the LB, battle for 3rd vs 4th wideout, Lt, 2nd corner plus depth. But I think it is more the message and tone but also the way he reinforces the standard.

I agree on the message.  We haven’t been talking about the battles at backup.  Even our two starting LBs don’t know who is MLB who is WLB.  I think that one is because Allen is just going to rotate them throughout a game or maybe week to week depending on opponent.  We have 3 players competing for CB2.  There is a 4th CB who’s Ben Johnson singled out as playing well too.    RB2?   At the bottom of the roster does JP Richardson have a shot?   Tysheem Johnson?    This is the week we start to sort  that out.

I think the play between both teams we practice with will go a long way on determining who starts. I read where the Bears dont have to share practice tape but all teams have access to the preseason games.

I agree, the scrimmages are very important. But I think it's less about protecting tape and secrets, and more about putting your players in scripted and controlled situations to see what you need to see, avoid exposing them to injury on reps that arent worth it. You get what you need to get, rather than hoping it comes up in a game. And you dont need to risk players on any extra plays.

I wouldnt be shocked to see the #1s out there in the game for one series, and i wouldnt be shocked if they dont play at all either. We'll see how Johnson wants to play it, but I wouldnt expect a quarter or a half from the #1s when as you say the scrimmages are already so valuable.

Agree with all that, but in one interview BJ did mention about not having to sharing practice tape, so that is why I brought it up.

Side note: BJ said the Friday joint practice have been scripted, following several conversations with McDaniels.

right! They get to see the situations they need without exposing the players to additional snaps like in a game when youre waiting for scenarios to happen.

What the hell is going on with Zah Frazier? He's been MIA since before camp with a "personal issue." Whatever it is, it's kind of crazy he'd potentially throw away his NFL career over this, because I can't imagine him making the team at this point.

yeah, thats truly strange

I agree, it's looking more and more like a wasted pick. I had high hopes for him and wanted to see how he would develop, but I cannot for the life of me understand what could cause him to miss this much time.

This is similar to Nate Davis story, his mom was dying. They haven't publicly gave him an ultimatum so it must be a legitimate reason. Until they explain it, it's a mystery. We have depth at CB so if he's just a practice squad for the year, he can develop.

You're right. Many of us criticized Davis for his extended absence without realizing his mom was dying. I should be patient and wait to learn the truth. Let's hope he can return soon.

This is pretty fresh with me since I lost my Dad a month ago.  All I know is that he and my mother would demand I be at camp.  Nate Davis used it at an excuse to steal from the Bears.  He proved that by his actions the following year.  Zah will have his own circumstances.  Hopefully he's in camp soon.

I agree with this.

I'm sympathetic to the players as people, but there is nothing that says they deserve their job either. i think in such a competitive business, you have to be there for the team. It's ok for a player to decide they dont want to play football and be with their family of course, but its ok for the team to move on from them too.

Due to personal reasons has not made TC. No further details are available per grok.  He did make rookie camp, so he was in house for a timem

I don't think he would miss an opportunity of his lifetime for selfish reasons.  Family would be a valid reason to miss.

I would not miss the last days/weeks of my family member (parent, child, spouse) if I was going to be hours away.

I dont know what this kid is going through, but it is enough he cannot be there and when he returns, ill root for him to grow.

maybe he has cancer and hes having it treated, or maybe he had a drug relapse.

We have no idea whether its a good reason or a bad one, and Im not guessing at it either. Im just saying, the team has to go on, and I hope he comes back and can play himself on to the practice squad or something, but until he does, the team has to go on.

I would view this very differently if Im his family member than if i am the GM. Its not being cold hearted, its just realistic. Of course I hope the young man is OK, but not everyone gets to play NFL football either.

Hard to judge without knowing the reason. With Nate Davis, his mom lived with him and she may have demanded he be with her with she died of which he was. I lived near my parents so I got to see them all the time. Some people live in different regions and see them a few times a year. Some people are close and some just make personal decisions depending on their life experience. I think Davis just had some character flaws and gave up after his mom died and didnt care about football anymore. Other parents would demand they go to work like Mongo said. Everyones life has a different path.

It will come out but I think it will to late for him to be a factor this year. So as some prospects that would be injured, you just have to stay with the player and hope his future looks brighter.
