AZ54
2yr $10mil incentives up to $16mil. This is good for both sides. Tyson gets more time in Ben Johnson’s system which will only help him down the road. We get a quality backup at a critical position.
BearFan PHX
very good for us. on most teams when the QB goes down, even for a few weeks, the season is in jeopardy. Having a quality backup is a fantastic thing to have.

Not that it’s our intent this year or even next but on the last year of that deal? Poles gave himself two years to find the next backup. This officially ends the Case Keenum hype train

Keenum was brought in to help Caleb learn the ropes of the NFL since the Flus, Waldron, Thomas Brown (who never spoke to Caleb until promotes to OC), circus left him clueless. I hope they can find a way to keep him as the #3 to help him through the long season.
Stinger226
Poles doubling down on the highest paid position in football. God forbid something happens to Caleb but at least a high end back up at a reasonable price. Poles does make some good decisions and this is one of them. adam
Bagent deserves it, from UDFA to contract extension is a huge accomplishment.

Im shocked he didnt get drafted. He has NCAA all time records that would stand at any level, but he played at a AA school or something like that. DABEARSDABOMB
This is a great move and really happy for Bagent and it’s a smart move by Bagent too. He knows Johnson is legit and if at some point he plays and excels - all of a sudden he’s getting traded for to start all while learning and working with a good coaching staff while securing some real earnings over next few years. And for Bears - they basically have locked in a lot of cap flexibility to be spent on other positions over the next 2 years.
adam
I hope he sticks around, but the contract now makes him more appealing to other teams because he is locked in at the lower price for a few years. Kind of wild that Trubisky hasn't gotten another chance to start, but teams like New Orleans are ok going with Shough, Haener, and Rattler?
