BearFan PHX
So I guess the Bengals are asking a lower price now for Trey Hendrickson. Now they want Cole Kmet, a 2nd and a 4th. Hendrickson is a hell of a player, but he is 30, this isnt the same as Micah Parson. And the asking price is lower. I'm not sure what I'd do right now. It seems a pretty even trade, so it can be argued both ways I think.

AZ54 Posted yesterday at 12:04 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:04 AM One week after seeing how beneficial having two good TEs can be people want to trade one of them. I doubt this is more than some media person’s proposal. The money still doesn’t fit the cap.
BearFan PHX Posted yesterday at 12:07 AM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:07 AM Its just rumors. I was asking hypothetically, since the 1st is off the table. I thought it had been credibly reported, because I heard it from my Dad, but he says it wasnt a news report just something online. So a whole bunch of nothing here. If he was 26 itd be almost a no brainer. But as it is, i think that would be an even trade, so people could successfully argue either side of it. You can always make cap room for a superstar, and its not like trading Kmet away for nothing. A top of the league pass rusher with 17 sacks is worth more than Kmet, even as I agree that Kmet has value for us. But like I siad, either side makes sense, there is no dumb answer to this one. Call me a homer, but I'd like to see the team we have grow together before trading draft capital and a valuable TE. Booker has been a TC hero and if he keeps his pace he'd have 30 sacks 🫠

We had 40 sacks last year and added an aggressive D coach. Adding a 31 yr old (Dec 5) pass rusher doesn't make a lot of sense. Parsons is at least young, what is Trey going to give you ? One maybe 2 good yrs for a 4 yr 40+ contract. That is how GMs get fired doing that.
BearFan PHX Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM I would trade Kmet straight up for Hendrickson - I assume anyone would. Doesnt mean Kmet is bad. But GMs do not get fired for signing guys who have 17 1/2 sacks each of the last two years. They get praise for that. And we can always find the cap room for a star like that - especially with the QB on a rookie deal. Remember the cap always goes up. The down side is that Hendrickson is 30. If he was 26, like Parsons, it'd be a no brainer.

It depends what you get back int he trade, not trying to get rid of him. But if you get enough, its always worth it.
Stinger226 Posted yesterday at 02:03 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 02:03 AM This is just a healthy discussion because its not going to happen. Teams like Cleveland make trades like this, not a team that added assets on the DL. It would make more sense for a all pro type LT, but like Monga stated once, no star pass rusher has gotten their team to a SB. Parsons, Garrett, Hendirckson, TJ Watt, or Crosby. The only one that actually got to a SB in the recent past was Nick Bosa.

You also have to pay him 35M. If he was 3 year younger - yes - but at his age with the Bears where they are at - not interested.
BearFan PHX
Micah Parsons scrubbed his social media of all mention of the Cowboys today. Having both available in this late market will drive the price of each down.

BearFan PHX
Well if they offered him for free, and he was willing to play for the league minimum, I assume everyone would be 100% on board. So the issue isnt whether hes a good player (hes an incredible player) but what the price would be. So I dont understand everyone rejecting it out of hand - at some price it'd be good, and at another price it'd be fair, and at another price it would be too much. If we had to give a 2nd round pick and he was willing to play for $25M a year, we'd do it in a heartbeat. If they wanted Cole Kmet straight up for him, and he would cost the same as Kmet, then its a no brainer as well. So I think its a little lazy of everyone to just say "no" without wondering what the highest price would be that it would still be a good idea? I agree it probably wont happen so if no one wants to play the game, that's fine, but its a good question, not an easy one. And you can bet Ryan Poles is exploring it too and asking himself the same thing right now.

And you can bet Ryan Poles is exploring it too and asking himself the same thing right now. The problem is you cant suggest it in a box. First there is a cost? That in itself would be a determinant that is now trying to build this team with the draft. Trading 2 to 3 assets rocks that boat. Second the cost of the contract he clearly wont play unless he gets it. 40+ mil. They already addressed the position with Dayo and expecting Booker to take a step forward. Those are questions I think they answer before they say (we have a problem) They think they have a high end DE in Sweat that is getting paid a lot of money. They are not viewing last year as his standard, they look to his 12.5 sacks as his norm. We now have an aggressive D coach that will increase our total by scheme.
