Parsons to Packers ffs

Actual I never thought of that but playing outdoors in cold weather will affect him. Parsons can get them 15 sacks every year but their success will depend on Love . This does not make them unbeatable. At Dallas they had a high end QB and won but they went no where in the playoffs. A great pass rusher guarantees them nothing especially having to give up a high quality DT.

So the trade off is Van Ness and Clark to Parsons and Wooden. So the overall upgrade is less because you have a downgrade at DT with the upgrade at Edge and backup Edge.

I think everyone was happy we got BJ and all our new coaches. We have not seen one snap of the new season yet. and some people are nervous.  I think our preseason showed us a lot of good things going forward. If you want to say KCs starters are better than our starters, I could have told you that 4 months ago.

Here is a good discussion by some intelligent people about the trade. David Haugh is annoying so be ready for that.

According to OTC the Packers will have 35 mil in dead cap money over the next two yrs for Kenny Clark. Plus his salary which I havent found yet for this year. He was making 24 mil, but dont know how the new money applies.

This is a big risk for GB but if it gets them to the SB , they will be praised for it, if they dont GB fans will be whining for the next 5 yrs.

I've been trying to call the espn1000 show to blow them some shit.  Everything they are whining about today is wrong.  Jurko took the day off so they lost all common sense.

First they said the Bears don't have deep enough pockets to pay that huge signing bonus.  Wrong!  The NFL shared a record revenue of 432 million per team last year.  Do they think the Packers have that and we don't.

Then they start crying about he's going to GB and we should've stopped it be signing him.  That's not how professional franchise work.  Lastly Clark was their best run defender and Parsons will now be their worse.

Looking back at huge EDGE acquisitions, the only ones that worked were the ones that had established franchise QBs.  Don't make me repeat that.  Favre got Reggie White and Aikman got Charles Haley.  We got Julius Peppers with sexy Rexy and GB just got Parsons with Love.  I hope everyone sees the difference.  We aren't ready because Caleb isn't ready. Until we know if he can play, the the big gambles go to the offense.

ESPN is not the only ones crying. I listen to the SCORE all day and watched several podcasts. I, as you, dont think Love is a good enough QB to win a SB for them. I dont think we were one player away from getting to a SB , where GB thinks they are.

This is BJs first year as coach, and I want to see the impact he has on the team. It was a big cost to get Parsons, and it may or may not pay off. Would I like to have him, absolutely  but just not the time yet .  We are capped out going into next year and I know they can play with the contracts but it would mean , if wrong, we will have a problem resigning Caleb if in fact he becomes worth it. Caleb will have to get paid in 2027 or 2028 and those contracts will over lap.

Its OK to say Parsons is worth the price, and its Ok to say he isnt.

Here are some things that are simply not true:

1) Parson's isnt that good - no hes great.

2) If we signed Parsons, we couldnt resign Caleb in a couple years - not true, the salary cap goes up every year, and one doesnt mean the other

3) you have to be one player away to make this move - no you do something like this when your QB is on their rookie deal, thats the advantage of having a QB on their rookie deal!

4) Our pass rush is fine - no it isnt

You're  entitled to your opinion and he is a great player, and we dont have a good pass rush. Here is his contract. Look at 2028

I have been looking at a lot of GB fan forums like ours and the ones that like it think Jorden Love is a top 10 QB. A lot of them are leery of it screwing the team up next year and beyond. About like the Bear fans reaction to it. 50% think its bigtime for GB and 50% thinks its a problem.

What would it have taken for us to get Parsons?

2 firsts is a no-brainer and being they wanted a DT instead of a DE, it probably would have been Dexter plus another 3rd round pick.

2 1s

1 3rd

Dexter

I would think 2 1sts and Dexter is a much stronger offer than what they got. Bears 1st rounders would like be viewed as more valuable than Packers and Dexter is an emerging player who is much cheaper relative to the player Packers have up who has a pretty high / expensive contract and is trending to wrong side of his prime.

Probably right, since it never happened , any guess could be right.

I agree with this. If Caleb shows he can flourish, then the Bears can afford 2 first round picks.  If he struggles, then the Bears have to consider jumping into the QB pool again until they get it right and those picks are needed .

We can blame this situation we are in on Poles and McCaskeys bc they decided or were forced to keep Flus/Waldron.   If Caleb performed and got the Bears to the playoffs like Jayden Daniel's did, then the Bears might have thrown the war chest to Dallas for Parsons.

The good and the bad. Ben Johnson could be the next best HC, time will tell but the choices made led to this.  Micah Parsons could get GB to the top or teams scheme against him and he becomes a liability and it costs GB their future.

we would have negotiated a contract that fit our situation. It would still be a ton of money, but as to which year it hits etc, that was negotiable.

I figure we would have traded Jaylon Johnson which could have made one of the pciks a 2nd rounder, and it gets $20M off of our books. Plus JJ is going to want a new deal next year anyway, and we arent gonna pay what he wants.

Maybe but I heard Jones request a DT in one press conference,so not sure he would have taken an injured CB. I'm sure Poles would have did a better money contract. The reality of it is we didn't trade for him, just like we didn't draft the LT you wanted either.

Now for my cheerleading, I hope we have a pass rush and that one of the LTs play well enough to keep the job all year. Like you said early in the preseason, I will wait to watch the team on the field before I judge.

You keep making this point. What does it mean? Does it mean people talking sports shouldnt speak about decisions their team has made?

It just sounds like you saying "shut up and love the team" and my direct answer to that is "no"

I can praise Poles for some things and criticize him for others. I can make judgements about which players or GMs are good and which need replacing.

I remember about 6 months ago you were arguing that there was no way Poles would get rid of Jenkins. "He just needs another chance" you said. Same with Leno years ago. And with Fields. And Eberflus.

So, yeah. You just love anyone on the team. that's awesome for an 8 year old fan. Here in the real world, when men talk sports, they say good and bad things about their team - and the reason is they hope to fix or replace the bad players, coaches and GM so we get better.

My point is, you just can't give your opinion, you have to shove it down people's throats when they don't agree with you.

In this thread, you addressed everyone that didn't agree with you. You have every right to beat a subject to death, it's just annoying.

Again you get things wrong when you try to put words in my mouth. I was only interested in bringing Jenkins back if he signed a team friendly deal and to bring someone in to compete with him . You paint it like I was president of his fan club.

I don't remember the Leno conversation but, you get everything else wrong and I'm sure that is too.

You just can't state your opinion and say I disagree, you have to type a novel on why you're right and everyone else is wrong.
